Retiring BOTH Of My Tragus Piercings

  • It's been a little bit since I last retired a piercing (think it was end of 2022), but the time has come for me to say goodbye to both of my tragus piercings. As much as I love them, I'm honestly just over my in-ear buds never fitting or sitting correctly in my ears because of those piercings. The good thing about piercings is that it doesn't have to be a permanent thing - I can always get them redone later down the road. But, for now, it's time to send both off into the land of retired piercings.

    I retired one of my helix piercings early this year. It was pierced in 2018 as part of a double helix and I did everything right with aftercare. One healed beautifully and the other refused to heal and it would have random flare ups. After 6 years of dealing with the flare ups, I just got tired and I made the decision to take it out, and I'm so happy with that decision!
    Also, I did subscribe for the piercing content, but I'm staying for the vlogs and book content! And now looking forward to the tattooing/body art content! Congratulations on starting your business!!

    I got my second holes on my lobes pierced almost two years ago. One ear healed and the other didn’t. I have done everything I’ve been told to do, and the longest it has gone without irritation is four weeks. So I’ve made the executive decision to remove the problem piercing after my sister’s wedding this weekend.

    I actually first found your channel through your guide to tragus piercings, which I watched a couple of hours before I got my first one. I now have both of mine done and I completely understand your choice because... Yeah, the antennas when using earphones suck + they get tangled in your hair when windy.
    Farewell, little tragus piercings

      Omg the hair getting stuck in them was soooo bad! Though I do think my hair getting stuck in my forward helix might be a smidge worse. 😩

    Sucks to have to retire a piercing. I pierced my own tragus and it healed the best out of all my piercings and NVR gave me any issues thankfully.

    I can only wear an ear bud in my left ear because of my anti tragus and snug piercings on the right. I can relate. I have had my tragus piercings for so long that I have tighter jewelry where the ear bud doesn’t irritate it and I don’t have to push them out too far. I spent so much time healing my anti tragus and snug that I cannot ever let them go 😆 dedication, I know you’ll understand

    I’m so sad but I get it. I have small ear holes so I can barely wear any earbuds anyways. Hoping to get my right tragus done soon as I can’t be comfortable with ear buds, I’d rather have my ears decorated.
    Came for the piercing content, stayed for the book and life content.

    I had my tragus pierced when I was 18 and I had it for a year and the jewelry fell out & closed up. I went to a shop this year and asked about my tragus and they said “I don’t know how they did that, you don’t really have the anatomy for that.” So I guess I’m also in the tiny tragus community too lol

    I have a forward helix that I retired several months ago. It was always irritated and it was getting caught on my hair or with my glasses. Your reason for retiring the tragus piercings is exactly the reason that I haven't tried getting them. My left ear has a lobe to conch orbital that can interfere with some earbuds but it's such a notable piece that I deal with it.

    I had a similar problem with my tragus, I opted to getting a smaller bar and now my airpods fit perfectly! Goodbye tragus piercings ! :)

    I have each tragus done as well. I was prescribed hearing aids a few months back. The wire sometimes gets stuck around the flatback. It’s a pill, but I deal with it. My health has already taken enough from me in other ways so I’m refusing to take my ear piercings out to accommodate hearing aids better. I just try my best to take my hearing aids out carefully (with the random exceptions of one deciding to fall off).

    I got my left tragus done about six months ago...still not sleeping on it, still not using an ear bud in it, still hurts, still gets irritated and I am at that point as well. Going to remove mine this weekend, its been a frustrating journey. I got my daith at the same time as my tragus, Ive barely had any issues with it. Thank you for keeping us in the loop with your piercing journey, I was nodding my head the whole video! 🤣🤘🖤

    Sadly, I retired my navel piercing, the skin between the upper and lower piercing holes was getting more and more narrow. I had it for almost 2 years. I miss it very much, and will more than likely allow it to heal and get it done again. It's a shame about your tragas, I love mine. I only have one, but the earbuds and earplugs don't bother it at all 😊

    I've recently semi retired my very first piercing which I got in 2011, one on the right side of my lip.
    I had a second one done next to it a few years later to turn it into spiderbites and then got a central labret on my lower lip too. Last year I got one on the left side and a medusa too, and I thought 5 looked a little cluttered so I took out the first one so I've effectively got cyberbites and snakebites.
    But I can't quite fully let go of that first piercing, as I don't want to regret it. So once a week or so I put an ear piercing taper that's the same size as the jewellery I wore into it to make sure it never fully closes, just in case.

    I get it, reaching a point where the aesthetic just doesn’t weigh up the discomfort. I had the same thing with my nip piercings. I was tired of having to be hyper aware of them as to not catch them, and they were always getting sore. So one by one they were retired. Shame because they looked awesome and they were by far my most painful piercing to get, but they just didn’t work for me.

    Top for removing internally jewellery that seems stuck. Wrap around the head with a bit of floss and use that to get some leverage

    I retired my Daith piercing. It just would not heal fully no matter what we tried. It had to go. My tragus has always been good to me, especially after downsizing. I never have the uncomfortable feeling with air buds.

      I have had my tragus pierced for 20 years (just on the right side) and I still use loop earplugs for concerts. I use the smaller size on that side and they work great. I even sleep in them because my neighbors are loud and they’re super comfy!

    I had three flat piercings in my Right ear cartilage in a curved formation and three flats in my left ear placed diagonally. I retired all of them. It looked like “too much” on me, and two of those piercings were a booger to heal. However, I did have the three flats redone on my left ear in a more curved shape that I like much better. I’ve been considering my tragus but will think carefully now as I wear air pods a lot of the time and I am also a side sleeper. Do you find your daith gets in the way of air pods? My daith gets a little sore if I’ve been wearing air pods for a long time

    I'm so quick to take out jewelry. I LOVE piercings! But I'm not one to keep something in if it's uncomfortable. I need them to look nice, but be practical. And that's my main concern about the tragus. I've wanted it done for a really long time, but I just don't think I'll be able to. It's just so exposed 😂

    What size are the hoops in your nose? Did you get it from Oufer, and is it a hing segment ring? I want a snug fit but don't know which size I should get. My piercing is the same placement as yours.

    Crazy. I have both mine done and they never hurt when I sleep on them and I'm a side sleeper too. But I have super large tragus' so maybe my anatomy helps??

  • @lizg.7657
    @lizg.7657 Місяць тому

    See, I have always hated earbuds, they hurt and never stay in. So I have always gone with over the ear headphones which hasn't gotten in the way of the 5 cartilage piercings I have gotten in recent years. I can't sit at work all day or go out and about with headphones/buds, I have to hear everything going on.

    • @GeauxGretchen
      @GeauxGretchen  Місяць тому

      I alternate between earbuds and over the ear headphones, kinda depends on what I’m doing and how much space I have to carry one or the other. My over the ear headphones don’t hurt me as much, but my ears will get sore after extended wear.

      I retired 2 of my helix piercings and 2 lobes... cus my body still may be trying to heal from having gold jewelry in them before (found out about the gold allergy AFTER I had all of the piercings). Might want to have the rook instead of the daith and tragus since I do wear noise cancelling earbuds daily.
