Oh the old strength vs hypertrophy thing. Why not hit both? I change this up near summer, but during bulking Legs, Light leg day(really off day but light high rep leg press and stretching, no training to failure, low RPE), Pull(horizontal including deadlift), Push, Legs, Pull (vertical pulling), Push, Off, REPEAT. Using Daily Undulating Periodization and you can hit Hypertrophy and Strength. Don't limit yourself to one method. If I could choose one method. What has started working best is not only slower lowering of the weight, but actually lifting slow as well, envisioning all the muscle fibers slowly contracting to complete the lift. It allows more time under tension, and you can use lighter weight for all you old fuckers like me. Well, I am 38, so not super old. Summer is a modified Mountain Dog 2.0 Taskmaster program.
