I flew the 757-300 on that route but FLL to ATL a month ago and it was my first time to ever fly on any 757. It was awesome!

I remember when I was a kid, I wondered how the pilot knows which gate to pull into when arriving, I didn't know yet that the control tower tells the captain which gate as soon as they've landed, and then instructs which taxiways to take to get there, and then the ground crew personnel at the correct gate helps further by signaling with those sticks he's carrying that they're at the right gate. Right before that, he was also notified by the control tower to signal the plane into that particular gate. The control tower crew have very important jobs, they also tell the captain while descending what landing pattern to use. If the plane is doing that u-turn descent where it flies above the airport, descends for a little ways moving away from the airport, and then u-turns and makes the final descent back towards the airport, it's because the crew in the control tower told the captain to do it that way
Pilot here: Center for enroute, approach control to the final approach fix, and then Tower for landing, and then once on the ground clear of the runway they hand you off to ground control. For takeoff, prior to taxi, contact clearance delivery for IFR clearance and time for pushback, then contact ground control for taxi, and then you will be handed off to the tower for takeoff clearance. After takeoff the tower will hand you off to departure control, and then to center for enroute to your destination..and then repeat the process..

I have a trip coming up soon and I’ll be riding this plane in the afternoon.
My question is, do Delta have a lot of delays? If so is it mostly likely to happen in the afternoon or morning?

Generally Delta is one of the best airlines and has the best on-time record in the United States. Also, flights in the morning don’t ushually have as many issues with delays as flights in the afternoon/evening since Aircraft usually sit overnight. Also another thing to take into account is weather and maintenance delays however these happen on any carrier. Thanks for watching!
