Awesome video and clear step-by-step. My 2006 Honda Accord I-4 is having problem with the 6 CD Changer. It makes clicking sound and won't eject my 4 CD's inside. Some other forum suggested to disconnect the battery for a few and reconnect hoping the mechanism will reset itself. I hope that wil work for me if not, I might have to take apart like you did in your video. Thanks, Tom
I just use a small 7inch metal pry bar. It works exactly the same and you can get those for around $5-10 at any hardware store such as Canadian Tire or Home Depot. The 7th gen accords are really easy to work with and that is coming from someone who have very little experience with cars. Good Luck.
It is called " Dashboard Removal Tool ". If you can not see the display in day time then It is not the light bulb, the Circuit Board is bad and you need to take it to a local Car Radio Repair shop or send it to us for repair.
Hey man thanks for the video. I have a 2003 accord and ran into the black screen problem that those are known for. I took it out to repair the fried resistor and your video helped me get it open! Damn was it tough though...felt like things were gonna snap on several occasions. Thanks though, wouldn't have been able to do it without this!
Will use this video to now dis-assemble the actual radio to gain access to the illumination resistor that has blown (2.4 ohn 2W) on my neighbor's 2006 Accord LX)
It could be due to a cold solder joint on the pc board. You need to remove it and take it to your local car audio service center or ship it to us for repair.
I had the same problem, the 2006-2007 lx single disc radios are known for this problem, u can get it repaired for like 150 bucks but it would probly be better to replace the whole stereo, thats what i did.
Thanks for this walk-through, it'll come in handy. I think my son threw a coin into the disc drive. I tried putting a disc into it and it seems closed shut not allowing disc entry. Radio plays fine and no disc in any of the 6 slots. SMH, not again. The same thing happened last month, my son shoved a baseball card into my PS3 drive. I had to open it up and remove it.
Question: got a '07 Accord V6 - looks EXACTLY like the one in the video. Took apart the storage unit to get to the bottom of the radio so that I could add P.I.E. AUX adapter, and just like the one on the video, the white plug on the bottom is facing IN to the car instead of DOWN, and it has something in it. Do you know what that is? If I remove it, can I plug in the adapter? It's the white 14(?) pin plug next to the blue one. I'm hoping it's just my XM radio (which I don't use). Thanks!!!
They changed my original stereo and installed an after market stereo and kit in March and now that’s ya getting cold and I wanna use my heater only the drivers side of the car blows warm.. is my dual A/C disconnected or something??
Hi there. Can I change my 2005 accord stereo to a newer looking one? Not newer than an 08 because of diff shape but Just to one With nav or a touch screen? My LX one is pretty boring looking.. Thanks!! :)
My stereo seems to be going in an out. Plus sometimes when I start my car, the stereo will not power on, but when I restart the engine, the power will come on. Also, the aux input that we installed sometimes won't work, but will sometimes work when the car is restarted. The cd player sometimes does not accept any disks, but will work at times, maybe with a couple of restarts of the engine. Do I have to get the entire stereo replaced? Thanks for your help
Hi there. can i change my 2004 accord stereo to a 2007 6 disc changer? my doubt is more about the a/c controls, also the 2007 will works fine with my old stereo and ac controls?.. Thanks!! :)
The Nav unit must be different. I got all the panels off and all the screws out and I am PULLING on this thing and it won't do more than wiggle from pulling at the top.
Removing radio has nothing to do with the air bag. Anyhow disconnect your battery for 5 min. then reconnect it again, it should reset itself. If that did not help, please consult with your mechanic or Honda Dealer.
Honestly this was intimidating when i first thought about doing it. Now it seems as simple as my jeep's dash almost lol. Great job!
Top work fella, could not have got this done so easily (and without breaking!) without your help! Really appreciate it.

This video worked perfectly. Thanks for posting it. It was very helpful....Took me one hour to complete...

Finally a good video on how to do this car.. Thank you
Very good explanation, you know where the lights of the stereo buttons are ❓ because they do not turn on to change them

Good video; it's going to help me a lot when I finally get a decent stereo for the car.
It could be due to a cold solder joint on the pc board. You need to remove it and take it to your local car audio service center or ship it to us for repair.
@yourcutter You could but it is not just plug and play, part of the wiring needs to get modified as well.
Great, please post a video on how to repair a malfunctioning 6 disc deck...
@Sterilitejetli
You need to send it to us for repair or take it to your local car audio repair shop.
@iced327 It's the plug that you point to at 2.26 when you say "two and the antenna".
simple and straight forward. thanks for the info man, appreciate it.
You could buy it from auto parts store or Ebay. It is called " dash board removal too" .

would this process work with a head unit with navigation? Also, can I replace my speakers with aftermarket speakers with the factory head unit?
I'm working on an 08 Accord and wanted to know would the tabs for the AC, heater, etc come out? I'm changing the entire dash kit.

What tool did you use to take out screws in bottom of the radio? I can't get them out. Tried using a Phillips bit but that won't work. Help!
It is called Dash Board Removal Tool and you could buy it off ebay.
If power is missing for the accessory outlets then double check the fuses, there might be an extra fuse box in the car.
Will this work to fix a cd jam in the 6 disc cd changer?
The two accessory outlets and my radio are not working, the fuses are all working, do you have any suggestion as to what might be the problem
where do you get that blue dash kit tool u were using?
where could i get the blue tool that u used, whats the name of it
Yes, it does.
Hey se puede cambiar la screen lcd de un radio honda accord 2006 le cambie la lcd screen pero no me trabajo me puedes ayudar con informacion
There's a setting on the radio that lets it change with engine noise. Just disable the option.
thank you, ill be doing this in the near future, great vid
Omg, this guy is so adorable!
can i put a touch screen in the center console of my honda accord ex?
@CallMeVina81 You could but you need to replace the front panel as well which makes it not economical.
If you are asking to modify the unit, no it is not possible.
@ 1:02 IT'S NOT AN ASHTRAY, not an ashtray :>
it's a not an ashtray
Yes mine coin holder/lighter will not come out as describe?
Very helpful. thank you.
The Nav unit must be different. I got all the panels off and all the screws out and I am PULLING on this thing and it won't do more than wiggle from pulling at the top.
Corkoth55 u have to tug on it pretty hard, I did mine under 30 min yesrerday and it was my first time
yes it had wicked strong clips holding it in. stronger than any of the other panels.
My 2006 Honda's radio screen is without backlight and plays by itself if the radio is off or on when the car is off. What could cause this problem?
Removing radio has nothing to do with the air bag. Anyhow disconnect your battery for 5 min. then reconnect it again, it should reset itself. If that did not help, please consult with your mechanic or Honda Dealer.
No, you could have it repaired. Cheaper than buying a new one.
You need to have it repaired, there is not much you could do.
Thanks for the guide!
