Hugh is a friend of mine going back 43 years and if people in the "comments section" think that they could do better when they are in their 70's, then fucking go right ahead...The guy's a LEGEND..
Someone standing close in on the stage filming on a mobile is never going to get a decent sound balance, even more so in a smaller venue, it's great to see him still going.
you're right. i wish i was like him at 73... great voice and great rhythm guitarist. class act. and in my humble opinion he outclasses the present 'stranglers'. if you're a friend of his bring my regards thanks Federico
I absolutely ❤ Hugh I am very fortunate to get a ticket to see him for the very first time whilst he's on tour in Australia in August 2024. Very few artists come to Western Australia, they mostly go to Melbourne and Sydney so I am beside myself with joy. ❤❤❤❤❤
Brings a tear to my cynical old Scottish eye … he was magnificent in the Stranglers and magnificent on his own here too … keep on keeping on Hugh 👍🏴
Always loved hugh.great front man.so glad i saw the stranglers live with hugh.My favorite band ever.got all there vinyl.keep playing hugh.fucking legend.
@SynthMusicFan 501 Performing more and more "JJ songs" seems the latest in a series of moves to lay claim to the Stranglers' musical legacy. Notice how he uses The Stranglers' font for his own name too.
Sounds like he's murdering classic Stranglers songs in his dotage, give up ffs. "If you wanna hear Stranglers songs, go & see The Stranglers". Never a truer word said; this is woeful
really needs some keyboard fill. I used to go to The Roadmender when it was a youth-club mid-seventies . It used to have bands on then, some subsequently famous , but they ''re-modelled'' the bui;ding and it lost its original purpose . ''The Roadmender'' was a book written around 1920 , with a Christian story . The club was originally a youth club , with support from church groups .
Hugh is the Roger Waters of Punk. He walked away, which was his right, but he thinks the rest of the band should have done the same. This is supposed to be a lame joke but The Stranglers won' t die
Sorry, The Stranglers are better without him. Yes he was good at one time but this is just awful. Now go and listen to the up to date Stranglers and then comment.
It was sometime after Hugh Cornwell left The Stranglers and started to do solo concerts, fans of The Stranglers yelled out for him to sing their songs, that Hugh became pissed at them and yelled back "If you want to hear Strangler songs then go see them!" Now days he is singing Stranglers songs with a not so good bassist like J.J. Burnel and a not so good drummer like Jet Black. Not even having a keyboard and synth musician like Dave Greenfield.
@@hank21s I really like Hugh Cornwell's first solo album, 1979 'Nosferatu'. That is an excellent album. He should have stayed in that kind of genre in his creative genius way of writing and composing music, also adding some music progressiveness.

I’m 61 years old, listening to Hugh makes me 16 again as good as the first time I heard him, thank you HC

This just breaks my heart. They had it all in the late 70s then it all went down the sewer. I couldn't dare watch the rest.
I know what you’re saying.
Love how the fans can kid themselves.
Give it up hugh
yeah, left hand fingers freaky shaking
@@lordclancharlie1325 Are you the example of what? First do something and show to the rest, then shut up
Start your career first....your opinion is like a thrash bin

He was one cool bloke in the 70s. Difficult songs that need a bit of passion which is hard on his own.
this is very sad
Really miss dave greenfield keyboards here
Why did he leave the Stranglers because he was going through the motions, just to play substandard versions of Stranglers' songs over 30 years later?
and I thought he refused to sing JJ's songs for all these years. Mind you, pretty mediocre.
Tuckwat Sellers Well i guess him working with a former fellow colleague that punched the head off him might've had something to do with him quitting.
@SynthMusicFan 501 Performing more and more "JJ songs" seems the latest in a series of moves to lay claim to the Stranglers' musical legacy. Notice how he uses The Stranglers' font for his own name too.
It's a bit awkward to watch. He sounds fucked

Wonderful ❣
Sounds like he is going through the motions. This isn’t good.
He’s missing JJ but afraid to admit it so he’s singing his songs instead.
Yes you can tell 😢
this is amazing wtf are you all on about. this is perfect.

Hugh sings or plays how he wants to on the night that’s what’s so great about it …. He’s having a great time and enjoying it
Well said..
See you in Cardiff Hugh!
Singing JJ songs ...interesting. maybe he should cover euroman cometh songs as well
esp Crabs.
LoL
Such a great Guitarist/Singer! dx
Vive notre JJ French anf Baz the top. Ouii.
Lol,, dear,, poor old Hugh has definitely lost the plot
5 mins is pants !

.HERO.
Yeah!!!
F'kin brilliant!
well, that's sad
Beurk, I am French.
why two jj songs ?
No more keyboards or bass?
Looking forward to Rough Trade East on the 25th!
I love hugh and the stranglers, but please stop this is awful its like some rubbish pub band
Well, that's how The Stranglers started out as pub band in 1974. (Much better back then I would believe.)
Hugh... stick to The Stranglers songs you sung, your vocal doesn't do any justice to LL and 5M.
caroline cooon will be mortified
Même anglais en plus arfff. Brurk

Better after did his best with the band...... :D
at 73 I just want to be like Mr. H.C.
Awful
Like your talent
Oh no
I really like Hugh but this is awful
Wrong songs to sort of sing and it’s almost parody time
If it wasn’t Hugh you wouldn’t listen

@@undergroundwarrior70 I get it and it’s his interpretation but not for me
When Caz Campbell played I preferred it tbh
Everyone to their own I guess

Dire musicianship. Meat and potato drumming. Tuneless droning
Mutton dressed up as lamb and spuds full of blight.
He doesn't do much in Scotland 🏴 Any more.😞
@Richard Porter Not good, and ol' Hugh is the sort not to give a flying fuck.
Too far for the old codger to travel.
You're sad about that?
