- We’re in Port Louis, the capital of Mauritius and in this video we’re going on a MAURITIAN STREET FOOD TOUR to taste the classic dishes you have to try when you're here! We’ll take you from Port Louis’ bustling Central Market through the streets of Chinatown to Caudan Waterfront, trying street food along the way. The food on Mauritius is as diverse as the cultures that characterise the country. With influences from all over Asia, Africa and Europe, Mauritius is a great place for tasting wonderful flavours and fusion dishes.

This video is part of a multi-part series of our ultimate ROAD TRIP THROUGH MAURITIUS! Mauritius is a popular honeymoon and beach holiday destination but it has so much more to offer than beautiful beaches (although there are many of them as well). We’re really excited to get to know this African island country and its culture and cuisine. On our road trip we’ll spend three weeks driving from the South up the West coast, then further into the North and finally down the East coast. Our goal is to get to know Mauritius from all sides, as well as check out its beautiful beaches and nature.

@ZoeandSimon What driver's licence does the Mauritanian authority require from tourists.
We used our German driver's license and didn't have any problems 🙂
As a 10 year old kid who lives in in Qatar 🇶🇦 but is from Mauritius 🇲🇺 I grow respect for you as almost no big travel vloggers talk or travel to Mauritius 🇲🇺

Amazing video! You guys covered so much, glad you enjoyed Mauritius. I wish more travel vloggers like Davidsbeenhere and Mark Wiens would go to Mauritius.
Thank you very much! 😊 Yeah we had a great time on Mauritius 😋
Your vids are very informative thank you for the efforts you have put in ❤
Glad you're enjoying our videos! 😊
about the noodles being a bit bland thing - there are some popular spots like "baz pravish" in mahebourg or "yesfood" in quatre bornes that serve them with broth, which i think you guys would appreciate more😄 great video👐
Thank you! We'll have to give those a go next time! 😊
Dalpuri made using split pea flour colour and the filling tomatoes Rougille butter beans curry and pickles from 🇬🇧
Proud to be Mauritian🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺
look 1:18 behind is Alouda pillay, the Mauritian favourite and the best of all
Yummy 😋 Great video!
Thank you! 😊
The sign might have said pistach which means peanuts in creole.
Thanks - yes that would explain it! 😁
I was going to say the same 😊thing

I love the fact that you enjoyed my island, Specially the capital of Mauritius. Most of the shop is closed on Sunday and Friday afternoon. I would recommend you to try more cultural foods as well in Port louis.
1. Korean Food: Mr Bao
2. Indian Dishes:PUNJABI DHABA PVT LTD or Namo India
3. Best Kebab: Shabaan Kebab
4. Hotpot : Restaurant Lai Min
5. Korean Food : Kimchi house (best )
Your video is very informative and well distributed. Keep it up
Glad you enjoyed the video and thanks for the recommendations! 😊
Ayy thanks for these recommendations ill give it a shot myself!
Wow I live in Mauritius😊😊
i am.bangladeshi but.i am.now mauritius, very nice county, ❤❤❤❤❤
that 7:02 transition was insaane
Relatives of my relatives own Jim Snack. I'll let 'em know you showcased their restaurant! 😄😁
Awesome, say hi from us! ☺️
Called Dhal Puri.. and tastes like Dhal.. shocker. not available all over.. very rare to find in the South
I like your speech
Mauritius in live
That was a really great review. I can see you did your homework
My favorite dish is Mines frits and dessert Tarte Bananes... I'm sad some Mauritians small businesses keep selling their unsold nonfresh stash and in 2023 no authority exists to inspect that. Funny all my mates from Western Europe have a crush on Rougaille... which may cue to the Creole part lurking in them 😉
Thank you! 🙂 We can imagine that a fresh Tarte Bananes must be amazing! Maybe we'll also have to make some back home 😁
Hello, Dholl puri is actually folded in four to make a triangular shape and then Bon Appétit! (A tip: the spicier the tastier)😁
Am from mauritius guys.....you should go to grand baie.....
We also visited Grand Baie on this trip! 🙂
I live in Mauritius
My favourite is samosas and gateau patate which is French
I hope you like our hotels and beautiful beaches
BTW am Mauritian🇲🇺
We love Mauritius and really want to go back! 😊 Samosas are also great and we've had quite a few! 😁
@@ZoeandSimon you should go to Ile aux aigrettes it's an island where there are endemic animals and plants in mauritius
Love mauritius. But be ready for a long wait time at restaurants.
But, that's about my only minor complaint about the country.
You are lucky you eat dholl puri after drinking alouda in mauritiu. Never eat dhol puri then drink alouda.. 😂 you are all welcome in my beautiful island ❤❤❤
Haha good to know thank you! 😁
I am from Mauritius
The food looks tasty, love indian flavors, I'll skip the Asian noodles if no saucy
Zoe - your pronunciation is very Mauritian - you are Maritian 😮?
Thank you! We're both German, so that's nice to hear 😁
The place looks amazing, but the food is not selling it for me yet. In your videos from Asia I was drooling so much I had to have a bib. :)
Haha we've also have that problem when editing our footage 😁 Overall we had some really nice food on Mauritius and it's a great country to visit - but yes, for us nothing can beat eating our way through Asia 😁
Don’t worry Simon you’re not the only young dude with a boring hobbie 😂. I collect large piece puzzles (1000 pieces and up). My gf finds it so not exciting.
Haha we also like doing puzzles occasionally (although after one with 1000 pieces we need to wait a few months before starting another one 😁)
Alouda is a French mispronounciation of the Indian drink Falooda. If you try falooda, you’ll understand the appeal of Alouda.
U disent triés poutou ut à ma tritium steam rice cake
The funniest thing in the world for me is hearing people who speak english say french words
👌👌👌👌👌

Did you put on weight after that
We try to balance these kind of days out with some hikes and salad 😁
That was a bat not a bird
The first part of the video is of low quality, but ok
I think you should get to know more about the food before even describing it. Whatever you are saying is wrong. The dumpling is not made of cabbage.. the dhall puri is not a pancake. So get to know more before you talk. You video is super bias.
Of course our video is subjective, as it's about our personal experience tasting these dishes - often for the first time. We're describing what we're eating and comparing the dish to other things we've tried before, so that viewers can get a better understanding of what we're experiencing. We research dishes before trying them, but we don't claim to be 100% accurate. And if we incorrectly call something a pancake, then I think most viewers will still understand what we mean.
your destroying my culture 😡
Yes absolutely
@@user-od6om9fp9hhow?
How ?
They showed only food, beach and tourist area. At least they didn't go in the suburbs or hood or showed addicts and drugs which is everywhere on the island
Boring Island.
