1998 Toyota Corolla: Day1, Part 6 rattle can hood paint job 2nd coat white "night spray painting!"

  • AbleCraft's 1998 Toyota Corolla VE otherwise known as the "Ole War Horse is getting a hood paint job using aerosol paint cans. The metal in the hood had pitting from untold pebbles and road debris after traveling over 317,000 miles,
    First step was washing down the hood with soapy water using a microfiber cloth. Then an orbital sander with hook and loop Bauer brand 320 grit sandpaper was utilized to sand down the paint. Ultimately 180 grit sandpaper was able to penetrate the pitted areas. 220 grit, 320 grit and 500 grit sandpaper was utilized to finish sand.
    Tools:
    5" orbital sander
    9" dry wall hand sander
    Hercules and Bauer brand sandpaper (grits 180, 220, 320, 500)
    See Spray glass cleaner
    Microfiber cloths
    Spray bottle (H20)
