This makes me cry to think of what our ancestors went through it breaks my heart. As a nz born Samoan I read up on the history and watch some vids on UA-cam. We have a very beautiful deep history of a people that were strong that they fought for independence. I'm so proud to know I descended from navigators the cradle of polynesia and just blessed to have been able to witness Samoa have their first female prime minister. God bless Samoa and her people 🇼🇸✝️✌🏼

How wonderful to see my fellow Tongans taking part in the Sāmoan Independence Day celebrations. I can see the elderly women wearing the ta'ovala who are bundling the ngatu, perhaps they were Tongans who married and settled down in Sāmoa.

1000 yards of ngatu (tapa cloth). That's about 9 rugby fields. Very fitting for such an occasion
