Dolohov's purple flame spell was non verbal because he was silenced so he probably couldn't cast AK non verbally. That and it's probably his signature spell.
i would guess that its a great duel ender spell, but leaves you options depending on needs. Like if you need them alive, you can keep them alive and they can be healed or you can leave them and escape or just take time to kill them if you need to kinda thing, its more resourceful than AK which only gives you one option. that and there may have been orders not to kill any of the three becuase if you can get either hermione or ron then you can lure harry with them...
I heard that the reason that most Death Eaters don’t use the killing curse is actually really simple. They just…can’t. It’s a very complicated spell to cast correctly and you have to have complete and absolute hatred toward the target for it to work. Most Death Eaters probably couldn’t cast the spell correctly for one reason or another. “Avada Kedavra is one of the most challenging spells to perform. It requires intense concentration and hatred of the target, and many wizards and witches lack the concentration needed, or the motivation to kill. It is much easier to incapacitate an opponent for a long period of time; and if you do fling it around too much, you might get really tired or accidentally kill another death eater (this happened during the battle of the lightning-struck tower). Voldemort lacks remorse, and he also has immense magical power and talent, so there is nothing stopping him from using it excessively, like he did when he massacred all the Gringotts staff in the same room as him.”

The problem with it is that it simply cannot be Neville. Voldemort only offers Lily the chance to live because Snape asks him, which sets up the sacrificial love charm. Alice Longbottom would not be given the same choice. Therefore, the only way for Voldemort to not win outright is for the Longbottoms to stay hidden. And the problem with that is, that according to Mad-Eye and Lupin, the Order was in dire straits by the time Harry first defeated Voldemort with members picked off one after the other. Based on how badly the Order does even when alerted the moment Voldemort returns the second time, if Harry doesn't stop him, because Neville is the chosen one, at best, they can delay Voldemort from gaining power for another few months. The wizarding world simply doesn't have 11 years to wait for Neville to begin his education. Even if you circumvent this, there remains the fact that without the sacrificial love, Neville would not be anchored to life by Voldemort later, nor is he given the protection of the twin cores. There is just simply no way for Neville to beat Voldemort, not as a baby, nor as a teenager. And so, the prophecy simply cannot be about him.
The keeper of the hall of prophecies is one of those things that raises more questions than it answers. We know they labelled and stored Trelawney's prophecy then updated it when they found out Harry was the other party. But that means that somehow they had to know who gave it to who and what it contained. So even if they just appear how did they know it was Sybil to Albus? If Albus reported it to them again why? As you said how do you get this job and why didn't Voldemort just arrange for a minion to get it? Many questions.
what if the keeper is a ghost ? immortal and is the only one with the ability to hold them because he was the first seer or something like that? Idk much HP lore but i think that would be a cool concept
The only thing that came to mind for me stemmed fromwhen they speculated that it might be a Seer. If the Ministry employs a real Seer, then that person could always anticipate danger coming for them which explains why they're never at risk. They could use divination to see what is happening to living prophecy subjects, then update the records as needed. But then beyond that, how and why can they touch the orbs, and where do the orbs even come from? Is that the keeper's real role? But then, here's the thing from a literary perspective. If there's this other person who can touch the prophecy, then why wasn't that the subject of the book?? Why mention them that one time at all? Why wasn't the book about guarding the keeper because they are the vulnerable third party, and then Voldemort pulling a fast one by drawing Harry straight to the Ministry instead?

I actually thought it was clever of J to hold up ten fingers while Ben held up five. Added together, it makes perfect sense - there are, after all, 15 questions in total. 😇
Reducto blows things up for some reason. (reducing it to it's base atoms maybe?) Isn't Reducio the shrinking spell? I remember in the movie when Ron and Harry are in the tent Harry engorgio's the flame, and then uses reducio to shrink it back down.
There's at least three in the dept of mysteries alone - "Flagrante" and Dolohov's purple flame as mentioned, and the door-sealing "Colloportus" that Hermione uses.
They got towel section right. That last question shouldn't count because Harry Potter Wiki is not a canon source so nothing found there should be considered canon, unless also found in a canon source.
That was my issue when they had a question about floors of the Burrow (which they brought back in the video about questions they had missed). You can't say for certain how many floors are in the Burrow based on the books. The wiki just sets up a possible layout and a "quizmaster" based a question on that non-canon layout.
OotP does mention the Keeper of the Hall of Prophecy, but only says they relabeled the prophecy to include Harry's name. So the function certainly exists in canon, but only mentions them altering the label, which is clearly described as being seperate from the actual prophecy in the book, so it doesn't really say they could touch it.
Oh, my gosh!! 🤣 You guys make me laugh SOOO much in these quizzes!!! THANK YOU!! I REALLY needed to laugh today; I'm not feeling that well today . . . 🙁 So THANK YOU again!!! 😃
27:10 I think Neville kicked the prophecy because he had tallantellegra (I am positive I spelled that wrong) cast on him, making his legs dance uncontrollably.
Lol so about that mini discussion about Gillyweed… they were ultimately sidetracked and looking for “surviving without oxygen”, not breathing underwater. They were looking in spellbooks, not potions or herbology books.
I’ve watched tons of yourguys’s videos and I’ve always wondered the history of why you call it the towel section? Now that you did a little bit with the CC people and towel section I finally had to ask
Love when J got a little too distracted by the hand motions at the beginning and said "but if we both have no idea, Kangaroo Cat can give us all of the answers" lol
They ratted on themselves cause of Megan 😂 I remember when they first got the boards, they said they erased like that cause it made it feel LIKE an actual pencil. And how they reveal it's just cause they didn't know how to insta-clear the board this whole time lol
An idea for a future theory/question video: how was Ron really able to speak parseltongue to open the chamber in DH? It seems like it was added out of logistical necessity, but a simpler solution could have been that the door remained open from the last time they were in there
So headcanon: Dolohov could not use the killing curse while he was muffled. and or he wasnt sure if he could. so he used his own curse which defenetely would have been easily enough to kill Hermione without the shield charm AND him having to do it silently. That would explain why there was no killing curse.

fun fact that i got reminded of at the time/clock discussion ever wondered why we use 'second' to both denote the placing of something as in "i placed _second_ in the race" aswell as time as in "give me 10 _seconds_"? ever wondered why we use "minute" to denote something small? like "there was a _minute_ difference" and time as in "i'll be there in a _minute_"? the answer is the same for both "partes minutae primae" or in english "first small part" its where we get both words minute(as in small) and minute(as in time) from, basically it reffers to the first subdivision of time or rather subdivision of the hour but saying "partes minutae primae" everytime its dumb so it got shortened to "minutae" or "minute" in english which is abit dumb because the saying for seconds is "partes minutae secundae" as in "SECOND small part" but the only reasonable word to shorten that to was obviously "secundae" or "second". in other words if they had thought it through we MIGHTVE lived in a universe where we measure time in hours, _firsts_ and seconds

(Well, actually, I'm rooting for Ben because I feel like, but this just seemed like a clever thing to comment, and I'm somewhat early, so it's like the law that I have to comment something witty- though of course no joke I make could compare to the outstanding comment that is, "First.")
I actually thought it was clever of J to hold up ten fingers while Ben held up five. Added together, it makes perfect sense - there are, after all, 15 questions in total. 😇
@@janajelinkova6465 ooooh!
Now I want to watch everyone in the office play poker.
28:15 I thought it was only the ones the prophecy was made about who could take it. That was the whole point.
Reducto blows things up for some reason. (reducing it to it's base atoms maybe?)
Isn't Reducio the shrinking spell? I remember in the movie when Ron and Harry are in the tent Harry engorgio's the flame, and then uses reducio to shrink it back down.
Correct on the Reducio thing. I imagine Reducto makes sense from a Latin perspective maybe? Most spells are Latin based aren't they?
You should make a quiz about spells that are only mentioned once 😂
There's at least three in the dept of mysteries alone - "Flagrante" and Dolohov's purple flame as mentioned, and the door-sealing "Colloportus" that Hermione uses.
They got towel section right. That last question shouldn't count because Harry Potter Wiki is not a canon source so nothing found there should be considered canon, unless also found in a canon source.
Lol, glad I wasn’t the only one who checked!
@@tomribbens4860 Exactly my point. The question is not based on canon information.
I’m so excited but so nervous for these questions! There can be so many questions for this quiz but they’ll probably all be very hard 😂
Oh, my gosh!! 🤣 You guys make me laugh SOOO much in these quizzes!!! THANK YOU!! I REALLY needed to laugh today; I'm not feeling that well today . . . 🙁 So THANK YOU again!!! 😃
I love how Kat says "question of the game!"
I just love it
27:10 I think Neville kicked the prophecy because he had tallantellegra (I am positive I spelled that wrong) cast on him, making his legs dance uncontrollably.
Lol so about that mini discussion about Gillyweed… they were ultimately sidetracked and looking for “surviving without oxygen”, not breathing underwater. They were looking in spellbooks, not potions or herbology books.
"everything's the worst and I'm dying"
When Ben becomes a dramatic teenager again
Watching this on the turn of the day of my 20th birthday. A quality episode of an amazing channel to bring in my 20s. Hope it brings good luck!
I’ve watched tons of yourguys’s videos and I’ve always wondered the history of why you call it the towel section? Now that you did a little bit with the CC people and towel section I finally had to ask
they got towel in the caption 🤣
11:56 - Why the fire curse not the AK? he wanted her to suffer.
Love when J got a little too distracted by the hand motions at the beginning and said "but if we both have no idea, Kangaroo Cat can give us all of the answers" lol
They ratted on themselves cause of Megan 😂
I remember when they first got the boards, they said they erased like that cause it made it feel LIKE an actual pencil.
And how they reveal it's just cause they didn't know how to insta-clear the board this whole time lol
An idea for a future theory/question video: how was Ron really able to speak parseltongue to open the chamber in DH? It seems like it was added out of logistical necessity, but a simpler solution could have been that the door remained open from the last time they were in there
He says in the book that he just repeated the sound harry made when he opened the locket
On the row number question. you'd both be right if you added them then subtracted 100. Which is actually REALLY crazy that that happened.
Smiling like a goober because Ben just called us fresh.
You two are like the John and Hank Green of Harry Potter youtube
So headcanon: Dolohov could not use the killing curse while he was muffled. and or he wasnt sure if he could. so he used his own curse which defenetely would have been easily enough to kill Hermione without the shield charm AND him having to do it silently. That would explain why there was no killing curse.
Definition of babaroo a person who circles a specific goal or land area but never really moves forward. Or A cunning and deceitful person who makes his own boundries
J writing confringo made me realize that it seems like a huge missed opportunity that these guys arent playing Hogwarts Legacy on the gaming channel
Can you guys do if Neville was the chosen one? Btw I can already tell this video is going to be funny and amazing even though I haven’t watched it yet. you guys always make my day better thank you so much!💅✨
Bro the editor is amazing. The zoom in on Ben's board when he still erases the same way
28:35 I think the opposite would be true. Someone that can't hear the prophecies, that way they wouldn't be tempted to listen to it.
The captioner did an awesome job with mentioning the towel section 😁
I have been on a J vs Ben binge today.
The gestures! I'm crying!😂
Reducio is the spell you're referring to at 22:51
fun fact that i got reminded of at the time/clock discussion
ever wondered why we use 'second' to both denote the placing of something as in "i placed _second_ in the race" aswell as time as in "give me 10 _seconds_"?
ever wondered why we use "minute" to denote something small? like "there was a _minute_ difference" and time as in "i'll be there in a _minute_"?
the answer is the same for both "partes minutae primae" or in english "first small part" its where we get both words minute(as in small) and minute(as in time) from, basically it reffers to the first subdivision of time or rather subdivision of the hour but saying "partes minutae primae" everytime its dumb so it got shortened to "minutae" or "minute" in english which is abit dumb because the saying for seconds is "partes minutae secundae" as in "SECOND small part" but the only reasonable word to shorten that to was obviously "secundae" or "second".
in other words if they had thought it through we MIGHTVE lived in a universe where we measure time in hours, _firsts_ and seconds
The whole waddiwasi conversation about chewing gum made me think about someone at the chewing gum wall in Seattle getting mad at someone and just like "look what I can do" and it's so dumb it's had me in tears laughing for like 3 minutes now.
That purple curse is of Dolohov's own creation, and is potentially lethal, or he can use it as a REALLY violently damaging stunner.
We should get a Kangaroo Kat Kam so we can see her.
Tom used flagrant to write his name in the air in the Chamber of Secrets after he comes out of the diary.
Rabastan Lestrange is such an iconic character that J and Ben forget he is not married to Bellatrix. His brother Rodolphus Lestrange is the one married to Bellatrix😂😂
My sister and I just reread all the books so I feel powerful knowing that alot of this info is fresh in mind 🤣😂.
I would really love to see how your knowledge of quidditch goes from what was used as the first quaffle or how many people died during the first Scottish take on quidditch honestly I’d love to see more quidditch questions
I think the number 97 for the prophecy is significant because it’s the year the first book came out. That’ll help you remember in the future.
The line Kangaroo Kat is thinking of is “I tried to make ramen in the coffee pot and I broke everything.”
It's obvious Kangaroo Kat has a crush on Ben....... right???
