- Chemical fire 5 mile shelter radius. Possible burning chlorine. Bridge shut down. No alerts or warning to public. The worst was the last 15 seconds of this video AFTER the fire was over. (Make sure you watch the WHOLE video. It may look like its over but its not)
Something happened, a flare up or they knocked over something but the smell was at its worst when this happened. You can see the smoke came directly to Monaca at this point. - Розваги
Staying at my girlfriend's house just up the hill from all this. Walked out on the porch and said "Who's having the pool party around here?" Had no idea until later this morning.
Why this type of alert isn’t like the amber alerts and emits a sound on your cell phone along with a message and also calls your landline? If they can do it for amber alert it should also work when it affects entire communities!

This officially killed the Beaver County Bowl. RIP.
Not exactly no alerts, but what there were, were useless. I got two calls that were supposed to be warnings, I suppose, from a number listed as Caller ID "800 Service." You know, the ID used by all the robo callers and scammers. I don't answer those, ever. The one at midnight left no message. The one at 9:50 AM did leave a recorded message, but all it said was, "Shut all doors and windows." What? Why? Says who? Is it someone try to sell me a new AC system?
Finally at 11:08 AM the caller ID said "Beaver Cnty 911" and I picked up. That message was pretty cryptic but at least mentioned a chemical fire in Rochester and sheltering in place. Had to go online to find out anything about it.
This is exactly what happened to us: Cryptic 800# calls around 2 a.m. that were obviously truncated ("...close doors and windows..." but that was all), then finally the BC 911 call at 5 a.m.
@@Austruck5561 Oh, yeah, according to my caller ID I also got the one at 5:04 AM, but I slept through it. No message left.
I got one right before midnight on Friday night. I was with a friend and answered it as a joke because I thought it was going to be some spam call. Then it just said "shelter in place, there has been an incident." Since they didn't specify what it was, I thought there was a problem at the nuke plant and started flipping out. Took us 20 minutes to figure out otherwise.
Well, technically, a useless alert is no alert at all in my opinion.
The smell woke me up at 3:00 am.

Chuck the Movieguy is fine. Its funny that you reached out. I installed this live feed several years ago because I was tired of WTAE always using a horrible parking lot shot of a high school every time they talked about the weather in Beaver County, but when I offered them the password to the livestream, they were not interested.

Why wasn't the owner who had all those dangerous chemicals prosecuted? It cost $3 million to partially fix that mess. They still own the Beaver Bowl and are hoping to make money at it- its not in decent shape.

Why does this say the public weren’t warned? That’s not true at all. Residents received phone calls around midnight when this happened.
We found out about it on social media. My wife tried to cross the bridge in the AM and it was shut down .
She came home and checked Facebook. We then checked the security footage and I made this video from it.
My 98 year old grandmother lives next door. My wife went in to shut the windows because of the smell.
They had NO IDEA also that any of this happened.
Only residents signed up for the Swift911 alerts were alerted. Many people who were not signed up were not alerted and had no idea what was going on.
Calls went out, but they weren't the kind of call most people will answer, especially at midnight. Unknown number with a 712 exchange and caller ID saying "800 Service." Looked like spam to me. I was so annoyed I went online right away to check out the number. One site just said it was from somewhere in Pennsylvania and another said it was robo spam. Nothing about being connected to emergency alerts.
