I know the Hebrew part is amazing 🤩 makes me sing along to it watch this movie every Passover growing up
@@Dreamerlightingme too
They are not only singing in Hebrew, but they are also singing 'Shirat HaYam'; also known as 'Az Yashir'/ 'the Song of the Sea'. It's the song that Miriam composed & sang with the women to celebrate the miracle of the sea splitting. The song is found in the book of Exodus.

When I saw that Billy was reacting to the Prince of Egypt I gasped and ended up choking on my chips 😭😭
U okay fam?
LITERALLY SAME!!!! Like down to the CHIPS!!!
Honestly I'm not religious but this is one of the most beautiful and well made movies I have ever seen. The visuals and the music are just stunning and the song when people leave the city never fails to make me cry
Yeah, this is definitely one of those movies that you should watch regardless of religion just because it’s so beautifully made in every aspect
Tysm cuz this is a kristen story and i am kristen😊😊
Its literally the beautiful retelling of Passover
I feel the same. I’m a huge animation nerd so this is one of those movies you can just sit back and appreciate the beautiful artistry. Especially considering that western 2d animation is a dying art in big studios like Disney and Dreamworks now.
@@kjlucky6501me too.
The little cane is a representation of a shepherd's crook. It sympolizes the responsibility of Pharaoh to both lead and protect the people.

And then Moses came down from Mount Sinai, saw what the Israelites were up to and said, "DISHONOR! DISHONOR ON YOUR WHOLE FAMILY!! DISHONOR ON YOU!!! DISHONOR ON YOUR COW!!!!"

I believe the royal sceptre (the cane the Pharaoh was carrying) is a representation of Pharaoh’s rule/power …. The British Monarch also have similar attire sometimes to what I remember
35:53 this song massive part of my childhood every Passover we watch this movie as a kid and we sing the song 🎶 we sing the Hebrew part also
what i love about moses’ face after the dad says “they were only slaves” is that it mirrors how he was addressing miriam when he called her a slave. too bad he found out he’s got that slave blood in him too after all. a very dark epiphany.
You can really see his thought process there. "You killed children and you didn't care. I was one of those children, you would have killed me, and you *would not have cared.* "
For all the Non-Christians or non religious folks here like me this movie shows what happens when you let the heart and soul of the story flow versus focusing on preaching and ham-fisting your beliefs down the audiences throat trying to prove yourself right.
end credits: There Can Be Miracles ~Mariah Carey & Whitney Houston ... classic, squashed the supposed beef between them ... like there is any need to compare those two angelic voices
One of my favorite songs of all time!
Yes, the song When You Believe is beautiful. Mariah Carey and Whitney Houston did their thing on that song.
There was no beef jesus stop saying that 🙄
@@aliyaheubanks4477 that's why i said "supposed" ...are you denying that the media tried to create a competition between the two of them? ..i saw interviews with both of them where that type of question was asked...
@@ginahouston9352 The beef was exactly as you put it, "media created". The media did the same thing with Brandy vs Monica, not to mention the whole East Coast-West Coast hip hop beef was all media influenced. Christina Aguilera vs Britney Spears and Nsync vs Backstreet Boys are two more examples of this.
That's something that has happened for decades. Michael Jackson vs Prince was created in a big way by the media. Michael was actually a big fan of Prince's and even Prince admitted later in life he enjoyed Michael's work.
38:33
Ramses: *Screams*
Every Harry Potter Fan: "I know that scream anywhere."
Fun fact: Back when Jeffery Katzenberg (the CEO of Dreamworks) worked for Disney, he wanted to do an adaptation of the story of Moses but Michael Eisner (then CEO of Disney) rejected it for religious reasons.
the sadness in rameses’ face when he realizes moses rlly only returned for his ppl and not for his lost brother… and then the way his eyes harden with hatred. god, this movie is so so good. i grew up watching this and yes it has one of my absolute favorite sound tracks and visual animations.
This is my son’s Favorite Movie. He is 3 years old and the music totally moves him but it’s the emotion of the characters that make him fall so deep into it. Funny thing is he loves You too Billy!!!! I can’t watch this video without him putting it on rewind so he can watch your intro over and over again and he was smiling that you were watching his favorite movie with him
Fun Fact- the voice of Rameses is the same actor that played Voldemort in the Harry Potter movies. His sister is voiced by Sandra Bullock. And his wife is Michelle Pfeiffer.
WAIT WHAT!?!?!?🤧
And his brother is Jeff Goldblum
Yeah Ralph fiennes was also Goeth in Schindler’s list. He is terrifyingly good at playing a specific type of villain
"because no kingdom should be made on the backs of slaves" - Moses. Let's talk about it America....
Precisely
Hittin a little too close to home 👀
Don't worry, America was one of the earliest countries to abolish slavery. There are still many countries today that still have the tradition of slavery
@Real_Genji Don't worry? America was built off of it, and even though it isn't traditional slavery, America has it's own new form of slavery like the "justice system" and using the police force. Not to mention how deeply systematic racism is. It's just slavery in another form.
@@filmingwithyazz4185 slavery was abolished before most of America was even built
The voice of Ramses is Voldemort!!
Wait fr?
@giovanmorabonilla6400 yep yep! The singing voice too!
I highly recommend Spirit Stallion Of The Cimarron. It’s another dreamworks film that came out in the early 2000s. The songs in that one were incredible as well and I think you would really like it #bingers
Fun fact that not a lot of people notice, in the Red Sea when the fish swim past... that is not a whale, they don't have dorsal fins... that is a Megalodon Shark right there.
AHHHH One of the most underrated dreamworks movie and one of my favorites 😍
So glad you chose to watch it!!

I know one thing, I wouldn't have still been chilling in Egypt with them plagues going off. Soon as God shut off their lights, "So kids, we're bout go help the Hebrews with whatever they're doing. Cause Pharaoh playing games✌🏾"
We watch this film every Pesach (Passover). We sing the Hebrew version of "When You Believe" during the Seder.
Its one of my favorite movies.
Yasss so excited you’re reacting to this! By far one of my favorite movies as a kid. Still got it on VHS 😂
Me too!
Same here :)
By far one of my favorite childhood movies. I upgraded and bought the DVD a few years ago. 😊
Fun fact when it came to choosing a voice for God Dreamworks didn’t want to cause a controversy for their portrayal of Gods voice so if you listen you can actually hear that God sounds like everyone Moses knows with Moses as the loudest voice
Best animated movie of all time, second to none. I get blown away with every watch, even watching Billy watch it, the music, visuals and writing are making tears happen. Karaoke all you want!
Hi Billy, I definitely want to see your reaction to the Joseph film. These movies did so much for my faith at the beginning of my walk with Jesus. They captured the essence of Genesis and Exodus so well.
Yes you should ABSOLUTELY watch Joseph King of Dreams. It's of the book of Genesis and is a direct prequel to the events that lead up to this film The Prince of Egypt.
It has amazing songs and is well made.
Also the language they were singing in was Hebrew, as the slaves were called the Hebrews which come from Eber, a descendent of Shem, aka the Semitic people
A live action you say? This is The Testament Of Moses.. it’s currently on the Netflix and it was done beautifully 👌🏾
Michelle Pfeiffer (Tzipporah, Moses’ wife) and Ralph Fiennes (Rameses) did both the speaking and singing voices of their characters.
“Playing With the Big Boys” is done for comedic effect in the movie, but FYI, Jonathan Young and Caleb Hyles have done a metal version here on UA-cam that’s truly scary. They’ve done covers of most of the songs from this movie, and from a few Disney movies as well (like “Hunchback of Notre Dame”).
35:20 If you’ve seen “The Ten Commandments,” you might remember that at this point, Charlton Heston goes marching out of Pharaoh’s palace in prophet mode, preaching at the top of his lungs. This Moses stumbles out of the palace, then breaks down and weeps.
Interesting facts: zephorra (his wife) never came on the journey with Moses and when Moses makes it to the promise land he never saw zephorra again
That's incorrect. Zephorra, his wife did go with Moses back to Egypt (read Exodus 4:19-20) but it is believed that when things got real in Egypt he sent her and the children back to her father in Midian (read Exodus 18:1-3). So Moses and his family were reunited in the end. It is also believed that he had another wife who was an Ethiopian (who we call african today).
She actually left him. Apparently, the Hebrew were very racist towards her, especially his sister Miriam. They killed his children because they were dark. He wouldn't do anything about it, so his wife left him. He died alone and miserable among people who saw him as a foreigner.
The story is one of tragedy he could have been a prince. He could have delivered his people and given them Egypt. But he chose his birth family over the family who raised him, and it ruined his life.
@@stannetaprospere4301 Please cite your sources, and make sense.
@TheWestlane my source is the Bible dude. Numbers and exodus to be precise. Read it for yourself. Don't just focus on what the highlights or what they preach. Read the entire book of Exodus and read the entire book of numbers. You will realize that Moses treated his wife very poorly. You will realize that Miriam was so racist towards his wife that God cursed her with leprosy. You'll realize that Moses's son Gresham was murdered. And before that, they called him a child that looked burnt bread. I didn't make this stuff up it's right there.
@stannetaprospere4301 prolly racist because it was written by men
Grew up with this movie. I've been watching it again and again over 20 years, and it still gives me shivers. As soon as I hear the first 3 notes of 'Deliver Us' and 'Heavens Eyes', it's over; I'm ugly crying. Whenever life gets too hard, I try to watch this movie. It helps me feel grateful to be alive and remember I can weather any storm.
This is one of my favorite movies. The music and story of course on point ❤❤❤
I saw this in theaters when it came out and I was in tears at how beautiful they told the story. The animation was top notch and the music was so engaging!
This movie is a masterpiece Period the songs and cast chef’s kiss ❤
If you want a true shock, go look through the casting for this show. It was completely star packed. I LOVE it.
Also if you like covers, you should check out Jonathan Young's Prince of Egypt covers. They are AMAZING.
I love this movie so much. I used to watch it on Sundays after church 😂 and even though I'm not religious anymore, it still packs such a powerful punch and the music is aaaammmmaaaaazing.
The other movie is 'Joseph, King of Dreams'. As Joseph is Moses' grandfather several times back, it is the prequel to Prince of Egypt.
The kid is singing in Hebrew. I think it's a prayer. Or a passover song. I only heard it for a second on the reaction and I haven't watched the movie in some time. I'm sure I'd know it automatically if I watch the movie during Pesach.
Aaron's story arc is certainly interesting in this one, different than the Bible where he's designated as Moses' spokesperson, front man, etc. Moses goes "I can't really talk" and G-d is all "Aaron will do the talking for you." This sometimes is read literally as if he has a stutter but also could just be an excuse. Either way the entire book of Deuteronomy (Devarim) is Moses talking the entire time beginning with "I can't go to Israel and it's your fault" and then adding some more laws about what to do in Israel.
For those that don't know, Moses mother's name was or is *Habibi*
I could’ve sworn it was Yocheved. Habibi is a pet name for a mom or grandmom, right?
@@LakaciaLloydI know "Habibi" is like, "darling" or "dear" in Arabic. So yeah a pet name. But maybe also a name?
@@YazzyDream It could definitely be a name, but it’s not Moses’s mother’s name. In the movie, Miriam said “ You were born of our mother Yocheved (sp?)”. It’s been a long time since I’ve read Exodus, so I don’t know if that was her actual name or made up for the movie.
@@LakaciaLloyd Exodus 6:20 and Numbers 26:59 says what's her name, it says Jochebed (יוכבד Yōḵeḇeḏ), I think the name made up for the movie was the pharaoh's name, on the Bible never said what his name
Exodus 6:20 and Numbers 26:59 says her name, it says Jochebed (יוכבד, Yōḵeḇeḏ), Habibi sounds Arabic, maybe it's some sort of translation for the Arabic translation?
Why I love about this film is that not only it’s a masterpiece but every time I watch it, I notice little details that I didn’t realized or never seen before.
Fun fact: The plagues really happened. There are records of them. Go look up the scientific explanations for them (or believe God did them, you do you).
What's ALSO cool about this movie (aside from being, you know, a phenomenal piece of art) is that it was heralded by well-known, worldwide leaders from all three Abrahamic religions (Judaism, Christianity, and Islam) as a faithful and respectful adaptation of the original story of Passover in the book of Exodus.
This movie is so nostalgic for me ❤️ Stephen Schwartz is a musical genius. It’s also one of my favorite Bible stories!
So glad I got to see you react to the raw footage of this film because it is so beautiful and rich that anyone can enjoy it!
Easily one of the most underrated films of my childhood. The music, the visuals, just everything...i love it. Also, understandable that many people assume it's a Disney movie, but nope, same studio as Shrek
You should totally react to the staged musical version of this movie. It’s so much deeper hearing the songs in from a performer and seeing real facial expressions.
The wife of Moses is the voice of Michelle Pfeiffer, The language that they started to sing was yiddish and you know the song because Whitney and Mariah sang the song together. Great movie
i recomend listening to the musical version in your free time. the vocals always make me feel something
I wonder how many people have noticed that in that scene where guard was killed - slaves are forced to clean up mess with sand that Moses and Ramses did the day before. Moses looks at slaves and realize what he create a lot of work to do for them, that's why he is also so frustrated.

Why I love this movie is that it’s transcended religious beliefs. I myself an agnostic, and I know so many others who are not Christian who adore this movie. Whether it’s for the story, animation, or music, this movie is very beloved
Who aren't Christian? This is a Jewish story.
There isn’t a live action of this movie, but there is a musical on the West End.
I love your reactions: they are so honest, and your thoughts and feelings come through cleanly.
An ernest request to the monitors: Please don't block this. He did his best to keep the camera on him and only showed enough of the movie so we could follow what it was he was reacting too; any less and we would have lost track. As for the songs, he was ALWAYS cutitng back to himself and illustrating what it was he liked with his own voice, but never doing full songs. That is as it is supposed to be. "In the name of Ramses, Let this Video Stand!!" LOL
Great reaction as usual
35:59, there was a pop version done with Whitney Houston (may she rest in peace) and Mariah Carey. And Boyz II Men did an album for the movie as well.
Now you just have to watch Joseph King of Dreams!😂
You should definitely react to Joseph King Of Dreams Billy! Because The Prince Of Egypt did so well, Dreamworks took the chance of continuing to tell Biblical stories in a beautiful way with it. The job was done that was needed; those who worked on the movie understood the assignment but nothing will EVER touch the magic that is The Prince Of Egypt. From the voice actors to the animators, producers, singers, songwriters... EVERYBODY! That's why Joseph's movie, as beautiful as it is, I believe went straight to video and Dreamworks stopped there. I haven't heard of another Biblical movie they've done. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.
Nice to see you watching animated movies again!
😎
Wow, first time under one minute lol 😂
I'm so happy you got to react to this Masterpiece!! Arguably the greatest animated film of ALL TIME!! The scene of Moses parting the Red Sea took TWO YEARS to animate! Another fun fact, to avoid controversy, the Voice of God was originally going to be voiced by the entire cast, who would all speak in a whisper. However, it proved to be impossible to make out what was being said, so Val Kilmer (Moses) voiced the lines himself and the whispers of the cast would be said as a background. The end result is a voice that would be familiar to Moses (Since it's his own) while also otherworldly and powerful. It shows God as both an individual and also an Omnipotent Being.
Finally, the most impressive fact: This film is the ONLY religious film to have the seal of approval from heads of 3 Major World Religions: Islam, Judaism and Christianity.
After this movie, you should watch Joseph: King of Dreams. It's another story from the bible and it's gorgeous

Ugh the soundtrack was just 🤌🤌
As a child listening to this story (and eventually watching the movie) I could not even imagine God reaching out his hand and taking the first born children. But growing up and watching it over and over with better understanding, Dreamworks animated that scene in the most beautifully haunting way. The visuals of the God’s Hand spreading out, the quiet of the wind, the sound of the children literally taking their final breaths, and (if you listened closely) you can hear the mother weeping. Even when Moses left Ramasis, you still hear the mournful weeping. No music. Limited dialogue. Just pure emotion.
Definitely watch Joseph: King of Dreams. Which is technically (and biblically) the predecessor to this movie…even though it can work afrer
