Wowsers. When that strut fell I almost jumped back! Scary, man.
A little cuttin', some MIGgin', some cussin', some refreshing beverages and you will be racing around in that little beast.
You got that right! Gotta beat that Kompas Garage!
It's getting close, as long as you can line up the frame, engine looks made for it, thanks for sharing, all the best to you and your loved ones
We'll get there! Thanks as always Donald!
Will continue to cross my fingers, but looks like it will work! Getting exciting
I sure hope you’re right! 😂
This will still be done before my Mustang!🤣
When will you be........OH wait! I forgot!
its interesting I also have a yugo and made a video on my channel, from 1.1 stock yugo engine I swap to a 1.6 fiat its the same engine just plug and play. but your idea is interesting, i cannot wait until its finished , you and other guy kompas garage. keep it going
Thanks for checking things out. I watched your video. Great job!
@@OldeCarrGuy thank u keep it going 🙏🏻💪🏼
Looking good. What about turning the k member around?
I don't thin I can and still use the stock suspension. Good thinking though!
turbo will be sick
All I need to do is learn more about turbo's.
@@OldeCarrGuy hood stack
That's completely wrong what you're doing, my friend! On Yugo, the 'strap', as we call it here, will crack (it's the lower part of the body under the engine, literally), and before that, your 'salt' will crack (the upper outer parts of the chassis where the shock absorbers are). You went down the wrong path with that project and I'm sorry to see you struggling for nothing. STRENGTHEN THE SHELL FIRST!;-)
I know this swap isn't going to be ok with everybody, but sometimes your just got to do what you want to have fun! Better than sitting in a junkyard waiting for the crusher. I will be reinforcing the car, but I want to find out where and how to hang the engine/suspension first. Hope you keep watching.
@@OldeCarrGuy I am delighted with what you are doing and I can't wait to see how it will turn out, but I already know what kind of pitfalls await you, unlike you, and I will be happy to help you.;-)
This is definitely a interesting build. It's cool I'm looking forward to seeing the finished product
You and me both!
Uncharted territory Jason... Boldly go where no man has gone before (and probably will never go again)! 😆
100% Glenn
Personally I blame squirrels.......
If the Toyota motor doesn't work--install a squirrel cage... Then we can all blame the squirrels!😆
For me, I blame the bacon.....
You'll have to strengthen our garbage from Yugo if you don't think it will be cut in half. Greetings from Serbia!;-)
Don't count out the Yugo just yet! Thanks for stopping by!
@@OldeCarrGuy I will follow closely what you are doing. Do not hesitate to ask for advice, I will be happy to help you if I can at all. I myself will try to insert a Hayabusa motor into the Yugo, but I am struggling with how to solve the reverse so that I can pass the technical examination and register it.;-)
Hey Jason, I just have to say You're getting better at this and I love the videos. You're hard work is my relaxing time and I thank you for that. Looking forward to the next video. Keep up the good work. I got faith in you brother.
Awesome! Thank you!
You should test fit it with the engine bolted to the subframe and the wheels on it. Lift the front end maybe using a chain fall attached to the ceiling should be light enough to handle it? Roll the subframe engine assembly under the car and lower it onto the assembly to see what needs to be cut out of the way for it to fit.
When you find the obstacle, lift the front end and if the assembly is in the way move it and cut the obstacle out of the way and retest fit. Keep repeating this process until you make it fit. Then fabricate the new structure that is going to hold the new(to this car) assembly in.
Try not to have to shrink the subframe unless absolutely necessary to make it fit because you'll be opening another can of worms that will snowball on you. If you have to, cut out the strut towers out of the other car and graft them on the Hugo. Doing it this way will take the guess work out of it and speed things along. Cool project, with a turbo that thing is going to be sick!
I think you're right. Waiting on a new rear motor mount and we'll go form there!
I actually found you because of your Town Car project. I’m loving this!
Thanks for sticking around!
Great content! Not just a bolt-on of sponsor parts!
Yet! lol
Just watched the Movie "Drowning Mona", I had no idea that so many Yugos could be assembled to star in a movie! Check it out! The premise is that it is a town where they drive nothing but Yugos, with the exception of subcompact Chrysler hatchback cop cars LOL.
How neat is that?
@@OldeCarrGuy Oh Man it is a good movie! Funny!
@@papilloncycles3463 watching now! 😂
@@OldeCarrGuy LOL Enjoy!
Nice editing Jason.. you know I notice things like that 😊
Yeah thanks Ken!
There are many nice Italian engines that fit into the Yugo and what the Americans put - Japanese ones…
You must stabilize chassis, it is very weak, it will not bear a torque higher than 100Nm, I checked on multiple Yugos
We use Japanese engines because they are plentiful in North America. I will be stabilizing! Thanks for watching.
About Toyota motors being installed in factory. Toyota deal didn't go through and they went with Peugeot engine and installed them for few production years.
Thanks for clarifying!
"not with too much struggle"... Dude, what, then, do you consider a struggle?!?
It's all one big happy struggle!
I’m Canadian and I’d love to have a Yugo LOL! I didn’t know there were any in Canada!
Yessir! This one was an import from New Jersey, but I bought it on PEI!
Rusty echo , great 80’s band name.
Right on!
Turboooo boosssttt 😉
Het That hood polished! lol
@@OldeCarrGuy Boyyy you still don’t know my capabilities with ltl cars 😂
Oh yes!
Fab is the fun stuff!
Yeah! All that's left to do is everything!
This build is interesting!
Thanks Peter. We're just getting started!
update?
There are a few more videos after this one, but other projects and honey-do lists have taken priority due to good spring weather.
Why would you go to all that trouble ,for a yugo ?
Yugo has less rust than the Echo...who woulda thought that?
Right?!
Seems like a perfect opportunity to run the exhaust out of the hood
LOL Right beside the cabin air intake!
@@OldeCarrGuy OR split the exhaust pipe and run it out through the fenders drag style :)
@@RepairDemolishRepeat now yer talkin! 😂
