    I love my model three SR. This is the first winter that I’m driving it in. I bought it in March 2023 I have about 23,500 miles. I love driving it. I have two gas cars and I don’t even drive them much anymore.

    -6 is not winter in Canada. It's -50 with wind chill in Western Canada this past weekend. Also what viewers may not know is the government of Quebec give insane rebates on buying electric cars. My cousin who lives in Montreal said he got $10,000 back from the government of Quebec when he bought his Tesla. He thanks Alberta! 😂

      -6° C remains -6° C no matter what the wind the battery won’t get colder than ambient temperature.

    Here in Colorado Springs, Colorado you might get lucky if the freeway is plowed. Then pray the newcomers know how to drive in the snow as well. Its snowing in the Springs this morning. I have a 2022 Tesla Model long range AWD. I drive for Uber. We will see what the day brings! Thanks, mate, for the video!

    I have a 2013 Chevy Volt I got in late December 2023...just before the temps here in Minnesota dropped off the face of the Earth. Luckily I had Bridgestone Weatherforce tires put on it to replace the expired all-seasons it had on it (it had been sitting for a while before I got it). It has yet to so much as slip once on anything so far. I heard the Volt was a tank in the snow; I'm sure the 3700 pound weight plus the tires (rated for Severe Snow Service) and the ABS/Traction Control/Stabilitrak Stability Control System have a lot to do with that, plus the gentle power delivery of the electric motor means no wheelspin from a standing start.

    Maybe Model 3 is made for winter, but check the wheel wells after winter. However, at least Tesla Model Y has several design flaws that make those rust after the first winter season. Having the Tesla optimized paint layer on those is not helping, either.

    Considering the Quebec winter, would you get RWD or AWD, assuming the extra $11,500 (after taxes) was not as huge a factor. We started with AWD, then changed to RWD. So was just wondering if you coudl do it all over again, would you get the AWD?

    • @simplygregsterev

      I like performance so AWD LR would be my choice. Also more range and faster charging is a bonus.

    • @sergeynazaro1768
      @sergeynazaro1768 8 днів тому

      is the AWD worth it though that’s the tough question. I’d say faster charging and the sound system and of course AWD are bonus but is that worth 11,500?
      I don’t count range as a bonus because LFP can be charged to 100% daily where’s as LR AWD is 80% daily and can only be used to 100% sparingly and also both cars are so fast so performance is tough to say is a huge bonus. What do you guys think ?

    • @ih2898
      @ih2898 7 днів тому

      Acceleration: I can get to Costco a second faster. lol, acceleration does not make a diff.
      Sound system: I am fine with either one, and I do not drive with the speakers blasting.
      Door finish: The inside of the door finish is different, but do I care? no
      Charging: Home charging supports 48A and the SR supports 40A. But honestly, it does not make a diff if a charging session is 4 hours or 6 hours. You would usually do it when sleeping.
      Supercharger: Yes, it will charge faster. Not sure how much faster. The question is, how big and how many long drives will you do. SR you will need to charge more often than the LR on long drives.
      Range: I agree, irrelevant so far. For day to day charging, we have a home charger. so charging not an issue. However we have not had it for a winter. I heard that winter impact could be worse on an LFP, but do not have the numbers.
      The final and last piece of the puzzle, and our key reason to get AWD. Perhaps this is just an old person talking as well. :) Peace of mind. My wife feels more secure with AWD for the winter. Me, I am not so sold if it is needed.

      @@ih2898 I really appreciate speaking with you regards to this. I’m younger haha how can you tell? I think the. AWD or RWD is perfect for you haha. I wonder who else is having these thoughts

      @@sergeynazaro1768 I had the same thoughts a thousand times. Even now at times thinking to trade in my Rouge for an M3 RWD. My wife's comfort level won. Even with the two of us, we ordered AWD, changed to RWD, changed to AWD, changed to RWD, got the your car is being prepared, here is what you need to pay email, called and changed to AWD. So, it was not an easy choice. In my head till today, I am still tossing it back and forth. Best is to speak to people who have had an M3 for a few years and let them tell you. Especially if they do similar driving in the winter.
      Not just the 11,500, insurance would be slightly higher due to the price.
      Here is another bone to screw up your decision making process. :) AWD, or RWD with FSD.
      AWD or RWD, with mats, mud flaps, winter tires on rims, tinted windows, free insurance for the first year, and a coffee as Starbucks. Maybe not the coffee :) .
      Whatever your choice is, enjoy it.

      From what I understand even in Nordic countries they have little to no problems with EV's. I think the biggest problem in the USA is our sense of entitlement, pride in ignorance and lack of personal accountability.

      @@fixman88 I didn't say every single person is like that but in general we do have behaviors that define us.
      For example we have more people in prison than any other country. Considering we only have 350 million people when compared to countries like India and China that have populations exceeding a billion that says a lot about us as a society.
      Also we are very litigious. We will file a lawsuit at the drop of a hat. We do this more than any other country.
      These are just facts. But just because I'm aware of the harsh realities of living in the USA doesn't mean I don't like living here.
