While a blood pressure monitor is too expensive for many people in low income countries, they're cheap enough in high income countries that everyone in them should have one. No idea why it's not just a standard item in most people's medical cupboards in high income countries
My blood pressure monitor warned me for an strange heartrate. Turned out to be SVT. Surgery next week Tuesday to try and fix it. So I absolute agree about checking your BP every month.
Yeah, you'll get more accurate reading at home and makes it easier to check more regularly or if you suddenly end up in a situation where it is important to check.

I don't have high blood pressure but got a monitor because I want to watch as many aspects of my health as I can. I know that my mine will inform me of atrial fibrillation, but not sure what other abnormalities it will detect (extra data comes from built in ECG).

So now I have a icm, 7 minute loop monitor and my heart goes during the sleep cycles from 50 bpm to 180. Leaving fluid in my lungs. Fluid pools down when sitting for work. Yet, my gp didn't connect the dots. When this started my BMI was 27. It completely immobilized me during this whole covid thing. Now near a BMI of 30, but on the path if recovery. If I would have been obese, a heart issue would have been considered sooner. Strange world. All in all it took 3 years from early symptoms to surgery.

Winter in South Africa is already almost over! The 1st September is spring. The rioting was in parts of Johannesburg, but mostly in Kwa Zulu Natal, on the East Coast, where it is sub tropical, so there shouldn't be a big variation in the figures. We do know that Ivermectin is being used there by a lot of people.
Absolutely agree... from a Gauteng's perspective. Looking forward to the next 2-3 weeks when Spring should be obviously announcing itself! So many times recently we have experienced 25+°C from mid August! I know, as my son's birthday is 30 August where we've had 30°C temperatures many of the last 10 or so years! Have been considering a pool party the last few years... Tonight is just EXTREMELY cold... Pretoria is expected a -3°C tonight!!! Having the pets inside tonight again... of cause! Not to speak about the loadshedding which we had from 4-6pm then 'cause everyone had geysers, stoves and heaters on, the substation tripped 2 times and we only got electricity from a few seconds before 21:00. So we had the full loadshedding period...I hope some other area had better luck like 2h miraculously without loadshedding!! This loadshedding is so not good when some people are actually on oxygen at home at this time... Our area and surroundings have been experiencing this wave 3 from early March 2021. We still have high numbers... highest in Gauteng (some of the highest in SA)... but hope for better times soon! Some of our hospital cases had to be taken to surrounding provinces due to too full hospitals here. Many people just didn't bother with the hospital route. Our young friend who is currently living in Durban, flew up to Gauteng to come look after her younger brother who was SO sick with Delta!!! He is just 28 yrs old! She is a registered nurse. She decided on 1 day to fly up, then acquired all PPE and moved in with him... while all of us played all the time!! He was supposed to be in ICU... She nursed him back to health in the next week by amongst others giving him morning and night nebulising of 3% hydrogen peroxide. She too did the nebulising... ahead of him... as they had to use the same equipment. She sanitised EVERYTHING!!! Then a week after arriving, she did the Covid PSR test... and it came back: Negative!! So glad!!! But for extra assurance, she remained put for another week, then flew back to Durban this Monday. Still no symptoms... and brother is doing fine! People often do not give Delta the "respect" it deserves. It is much worse on young people!! And the more older people are vaccinated, the more younger people are susceptible... and it definitely takes the opportunity. What is interesting is that according to the test samples, some "other" variants are presently suppressing Delta...?? Wandering if there lurks another new SA variant amongst those "other" variants... Yet hopes that we can now get a breather from this virus onslaught!! It's been 5 months of progressive climb! Definitely since beginning May. So tired of this now!!! It's been more than double any previous waves!!! And teenagers and young adults suffered much more than before. Our GP said last week that they have never had so many patients in hospital... and the worst part was that those on ventilators were the young, fit men in their 20's!! Clearly the GP was at her wits end! Her husband (her practice co-owner) and their 2 teenage dauthers had covid in May. She somehow didn't get it, even though living in the same house. It became a case of who should be isolating... they or she? Luckily as medical practitioners, she and her husband were immunised against covid in February (J&J). Her husband only had light symptoms (a bit of coughing) and she didn't get symptoms and neither did she test positive. Surrounding provinces to Gauteng seems to still be high on numbers. Also, our region in Tshwane, Gauteng is still very high! Every notch lower is a reason for festivity!! Looking forward to a lockdown lowering this coming weekend!! A bit worried about Western Cape though... KZN is an anomaly so far... I hope the riots etc didn't cause more problems there.... Luckily Gauteng got by with minimal disturbance. So everyones' eyes are trained at KZN...Hoping and praying that they will be saved! We all need a breather!!

I’m afraid in this matter the good Dr Campbell does not know what he is talking about. The peak predates the riots, so the peak itself is not a sudden change in reporting. Once quick growing provinces which had no riots are also going down, and so is the neighbouring country of Namibia. Dr Campbell must be the only person with any following on Earth who believes cases in South Africa are going up. And I agree what is this “going INTO Winter?”. Even August is known for significantly warmer weather than July and June.

While a blood pressure monitor is too expensive for many people in low income countries, they're cheap enough in high income countries that everyone in them should have one. No idea why it's not just a standard item in most people's medical cupboards in high income countries
Better to self monitor at home. Removes white coat syndrome from the equation.
My blood pressure monitor warned me for an strange heartrate. Turned out to be SVT. Surgery next week Tuesday to try and fix it. So I absolute agree about checking your BP every month.
Yeah, you'll get more accurate reading at home and makes it easier to check more regularly or if you suddenly end up in a situation where it is important to check.

I don't have high blood pressure but got a monitor because I want to watch as many aspects of my health as I can. I know that my mine will inform me of atrial fibrillation, but not sure what other abnormalities it will detect (extra data comes from built in ECG).
@@joetheprogrammer0 the reason I got the bloodpressure thing to begin with was, trouble breathing when I woke up. Plus really swollen knees and legs. So now I have a icm, 7 minute loop monitor and my heart goes during the sleep cycles from 50 bpm to 180. Leaving fluid in my lungs. Fluid pools down when sitting for work. Yet, my gp didn't connect the dots. When this started my BMI was 27. It completely immobilized me during this whole covid thing. Now near a BMI of 30, but on the path if recovery. If I would have been obese, a heart issue would have been considered sooner. Strange world. All in all it took 3 years from early symptoms to surgery.

Winter in South Africa is already almost over!
The 1st September is spring. The rioting was in parts of Johannesburg, but mostly in Kwa Zulu Natal, on the East Coast, where it is sub tropical, so there shouldn't be a big variation in the figures.
We do know that Ivermectin is being used there by a lot of people.
Absolutely agree... from a Gauteng's perspective. Looking forward to the next 2-3 weeks when Spring should be obviously announcing itself! So many times recently we have experienced 25+°C from mid August! I know, as my son's birthday is 30 August where we've had 30°C temperatures many of the last 10 or so years! Have been considering a pool party the last few years... Tonight is just EXTREMELY cold... Pretoria is expected a -3°C tonight!!! Having the pets inside tonight again... of cause! Not to speak about the loadshedding which we had from 4-6pm then 'cause everyone had geysers, stoves and heaters on, the substation tripped 2 times and we only got electricity from a few seconds before 21:00. So we had the full loadshedding period...I hope some other area had better luck like 2h miraculously without loadshedding!! This loadshedding is so not good when some people are actually on oxygen at home at this time... Our area and surroundings have been experiencing this wave 3 from early March 2021. We still have high numbers... highest in Gauteng (some of the highest in SA)... but hope for better times soon! Some of our hospital cases had to be taken to surrounding provinces due to too full hospitals here. Many people just didn't bother with the hospital route. Our young friend who is currently living in Durban, flew up to Gauteng to come look after her younger brother who was SO sick with Delta!!! He is just 28 yrs old! She is a registered nurse. She decided on 1 day to fly up, then acquired all PPE and moved in with him... while all of us played all the time!! He was supposed to be in ICU... She nursed him back to health in the next week by amongst others giving him morning and night nebulising of 3% hydrogen peroxide. She too did the nebulising... ahead of him... as they had to use the same equipment. She sanitised EVERYTHING!!! Then a week after arriving, she did the Covid PSR test... and it came back: Negative!! So glad!!! But for extra assurance, she remained put for another week, then flew back to Durban this Monday. Still no symptoms... and brother is doing fine!
People often do not give Delta the "respect" it deserves. It is much worse on young people!! And the more older people are vaccinated, the more younger people are susceptible... and it definitely takes the opportunity.
What is interesting is that according to the test samples, some "other" variants are presently suppressing Delta...?? Wandering if there lurks another new SA variant amongst those "other" variants... Yet hopes that we can now get a breather from this virus onslaught!! It's been 5 months of progressive climb! Definitely since beginning May. So tired of this now!!! It's been more than double any previous waves!!! And teenagers and young adults suffered much more than before. Our GP said last week that they have never had so many patients in hospital... and the worst part was that those on ventilators were the young, fit men in their 20's!! Clearly the GP was at her wits end! Her husband (her practice co-owner) and their 2 teenage dauthers had covid in May. She somehow didn't get it, even though living in the same house. It became a case of who should be isolating... they or she? Luckily as medical practitioners, she and her husband were immunised against covid in February (J&J). Her husband only had light symptoms (a bit of coughing) and she didn't get symptoms and neither did she test positive.
Surrounding provinces to Gauteng seems to still be high on numbers. Also, our region in Tshwane, Gauteng is still very high! Every notch lower is a reason for festivity!! Looking forward to a lockdown lowering this coming weekend!!
A bit worried about Western Cape though... KZN is an anomaly so far... I hope the riots etc didn't cause more problems there.... Luckily Gauteng got by with minimal disturbance. So everyones' eyes are trained at KZN...Hoping and praying that they will be saved! We all need a breather!!

I’m afraid in this matter the good Dr Campbell does not know what he is talking about. The peak predates the riots, so the peak itself is not a sudden change in reporting. Once quick growing provinces which had no riots are also going down, and so is the neighbouring country of Namibia. Dr Campbell must be the only person with any following on Earth who believes cases in South Africa are going up. And I agree what is this “going INTO Winter?”. Even August is known for significantly warmer weather than July and June.
