    You determine your own worth, don't EVER let anyone else do that. Same for the things you make and do. :) Thanks for the great video and the pdf download!!

    Hi! Thanks for your video! I have been a crafter for years and always gave away what I made for gifts. A few friends encouraged me to sell at a Christmas craft sale. I have done this 3 times now and last year was my best year. You are so right about everyone wanting a good deal without realizing how long it takes to make some of the items. I haven’t been factoring in time, just my materials. Some things take me four hours to make…. After watching this video, I realize I need to make items that are simpler to produce but are still desirable. As I have accounting experience, I record purchases into a spreadsheet when the supples are purchased. I didn’t at first but have seen the light. Already have ideas for next year as I have this year’s items 90% done. Very kind of you to share your wisdom!

      Louise, this makes me so happy! I love to sew, I love to give people I love things I sew, but I think we also need to remember that there is value in our work. That when we do decide to sell them, we need to make sure that our time and our expenses are covered. I know so many who have continued to sell below what their time is worth and it eventually burns them out from the joy of their sewing. Thank you so much for sharing and watching my video.

    Thank you sooo much for this video! I've been going back and forth with wanting to sell the items I've made but was worried about pricing and how to go about selling and where to sell. Your videos have really taught me the best way to go about selling and pricing. Again, Thank You! 😊

    Thank you for such an amazing video. I'm so nervous that people won't like what I've made that I get stuck with starting. Hard to not get overwhelmed

      Julie, you are not alone feeling this. You don't know how many times I look at something and say, "it's not good enough" but I promise you we see all the "mistakes" even when they aren't mistakes. That is what makes your products quality. Take the first step with a pattern you love and know comes out well each time, and go from there.

    Thank you!!! I've kept track of what my supplies cost to acquire and I was battling with price points because this will be my first time selling something I've made, and I guess I was battling people pleasing (priced low enough to encourage them to buy) with recognizing the worth of my product and my time. Thank you for your advice, this has helped me give myself permission to set my prices how they reflect my time/supplies/my worth as a creator.

      ^^^ THIS! This makes my heart so happy! The beautiful thing about setting your prices so they pay for your time and your supplies this way is that when you can to clear out inventory or offer a discount you can without hurting you, and that helps those "watching" customers who are waiting for a good deal. It's not being sleezy it is being savy and actually caring about everyone involved, including you!

    Thank you for a great video, I've subscribed to your channel and plan to check out your other videos too. I am truly on the struggle bus when it comes to pricing. I know that I underprice my products all the time. I have only recently begun selling a few things here or there to friends and family. Just using my head to quickly calculate a price is not a good thing as I always tell myself that there is no way it cost so much to handcraft an item and then underprice what I come up with in my head as always felt my quick headcount must be off. I am realizing that I need to do better, if I want to actually make a profit. I have downloaded the spreadsheet and will give it a try.

      It is a struggle for all of us. I still find myself working through it but the spreadsheet helps me not to lie to myself about how much materials cost.

    I have boxes of things I have made in my grieving process when I lost mother. From quilt tops to place mats bowl cozies pin cushions glam bags balloon balls and on. I have no idea how to even begin pricing as I’ve no clue what I spent $$ or time wise

    • @thunderbirdfarmpa
      @thunderbirdfarmpa  2 роки тому +1

      First, I’m so sorry for the lost of your Mom. Loosing a parent is never easy and I am sure there was so much healing from that sewing that just needed to happen. I’m this case I would consider that part of your payment, but then do a little Etsy research and see what others are charging for similar items. Take the average of 3 similar and settle on a price from there. I hope this helps.

    Thank you for this video!! I'm having an issue with the template. Its not the excel type spreadsheet when I download it but a two page word type document with inventory sheet. Is that what is supposed to be there?

    • @thunderbirdfarmpa
      @thunderbirdfarmpa  2 роки тому +1

      Yes I didn’t make it a spreadsheet because I figured everyone uses a different program for their spreadsheets. So instead I just made the fields in a printable you can either print it out or use the titles to make your fields in your own sheet. I figured this way it would be something everyone can use no matter what program they like, Microsoft excel or Google Sheets.

    Hi. I just found your YT channel. When I downloaded the files, I received the PDF only. The Excel sheet was not part of the download. Is the Excel sheet still available and if so how can I get it? Thank you for this useful information. It is helpful.

      I’m so glad you’re here. Thanks for watching. The PDFs are to help you create your own spreadsheet since everyone will have different items to keep track of. I hope that helps.

    The worth of my items

    • @thunderbirdfarmpa
      @thunderbirdfarmpa  2 роки тому +1

      Figuring the worth of your items is a simple math equation, what makes it hard is when we allow our own self-doubt to creep in and we value our worth based on that feeling of it not being “good enough” Thanks for watching.
