I cannot imagine this cult classic movie without Coppola and the amazing actors he casted for respective characters. There is one more genius ..without him the movie would have not looked like what it is.. and he is Gordon Willis, the ace director of cinematography!!!
All those interested in the kind of information that hasn't been well known for 52 years should read Mark Seal's fascinating book "Leave the Gun, Take the Cannoli."
The most fascinating fact is that the Godfather is nothing like he Mafia in real life. It Romanticized a bunch of killers and thieves into something special. If one actually wants to see a movie closer to the real deal try Goodfellas..
@@brobbus0-dl6vl Yes your comment is, I agree. It is a total romanticized fairy tale of the actual thing. In fact the real funny thing is when the movie came out many mafia people tried to act like the characters that's how removed from reality it actually is. Buy a clue. The funny thing is I still like it. It is very good. Right up there with the Wizard Of Oz Dorthy. i actually have a BFA in Television, Film and Photography Production and have written Grada A shooting scripts. I have even worked for PBS at one time. Just found out a old roommate of mine has been involved in some major hit movies.
@@brealistic3542 I didn't ask who you are and I don't care. The Godfather is #2 on the AFI top 100 American Movies, as well in the top 10 in They Shoot Pictures Don't They, and BFI's top 10. So you exhibiting your "credentials" as some badge of honor as if they make what you are saying any worth it is absolutely laughable. Most of the professionals, much more important than you, disagree with you. The Godfather is one of the most highly praised movies of all time not only by the general public but also by people who are somebody in the industry, unlike you.

Yes indeed. Willis actually referred to the look of the film as ‘a newspaper photograph in bad colour’. I very unique and distinct vision from a DP 🙌
Yes, I have watched it just for this reason at times. So golden.
Nicely done! Didn't know a few of these.
Thankyou kindly! Yes, I think ultimalty Coppolla is the hero of this video.
@AvySparks Absolutely! Not only did the man have vision, he knew how to utilize the pieces he had for maximum effort.

What a load of crap. And by the way, Goodfellas can't hold a candle to The Godfather. Or Godfather 2 for that matter.
I don’t think it’s as romanticize as you people make it out to be
More like The Departed.
