Lucas is a perfect example of what the film Agenda and Agenda 2 talks about highly recommend you watch both they will shed a great beaming light on the writers' choices this season.
i think the storylines were ruined. if it were good storytelling Carson would have stayed when they found that ring. becuse the most powerful stories are when people work through things and overcome them to be together
Not mine, but I had to share. Season 8 of When Calls The Heart is a classic example of writers “telling” us, not showing, what their lead character feels. In any love triangle, audience initial bias plays a critical factor in storyline perception. Season 8, though, has been misleading-in its use of plot devices and just the fact that the unchosen suitor shared more screentime and meaningful dialogue with the lead character this season, than even the chosen suitor. The chosen suitor scenes were filled with superficial dialogue, interruptions, and lots of “telling” not showing. The shock factor outcome with haphazard build-up demonstrates either careless, inept, or prideful writing. If the writer had a particular suitor in mind from the beginning, then it is the writer’s responsibility to guide the audience to the same conclusion, not cruelly manipulate until the bitter end. Shock factor loses its appeal when half of your audience is left confused and disheartened. I realize one side was bound to feel this way. But it does not serve your characters or your craft when you take the most multi-faceted male character on the show and demote him to the tertiary character. This is the most frustrating result of season 8. It is not just that the heroine chose the character I personally like less. It is that she chose, objectively speaking, the lesser character. She chose a man who is her equal in the superficial matters, not in the things that truly matter to build a life together. She chose a man who will say all the right things, but not a man who, I believe, will challenge her into becoming a better person. And she chose the man who was passive throughout season 8, not the man who actually tried to fight for her. Love may not be logical, but this choice defies the overarching theme of the entire season. Love may not “make sense,” but character writing should.
@Jemima Peach feel the same way, why was the N & E dialogs so much **believable and meaningful** vs the showy wooing that Lucas character was portrayed esp on the last 3 Episodes....the handholding between E & N and looks were more passionate and tender....suppose casts are trying damnest best to support Erin and Chris as leads to continue the S9 - but am not convinced that I will enjoy the storyline as before ..a .Grant Family would have been best way to go!
@@emydel679 too true, plus the way she was all over Lucas in the last episode came off more as if she was throwing herself at him to try and prove to him and the audience that she loved him but remember the pride and prejudice 2005 proposal scene that was way more romantic and they didn't even kiss. romance isn't about kissing it is about a powerful connection. which is why the slightest brush of a hand can be way more romantic than a silly fakey load of kisses.
I loved Kavan in Stargate Atlantis

Great interview! Kavan has got some fun stories...
I totally agree with Kavan about NOT giving Erin flack about the storylines. And everything he was saying!!!

It was like they took a page from The Bachelor playbook.
