"hitsounds are one of the easiest things to understand about mapping" Then there's me who has made about 70 difficulties and I still have no fucking clue how to hitsound properly.
hey pishi, when should i use the drum sample instead of the normal and soft one? i feel it gives way more feedback and it's nicer to play with. what are your thoughts?
pishifat: talks about how similar hitsounds doesn't provide feedback me who playing with 100% sound effects and 30% music sound: are you sure about that?)
how am I supposed to add custom hitsounds to my map?? I've been attempting to find an effective way to mute specific slider ends in my maps, but I haven't found anything on the internet that covers it clearly
6 months late ik but you could just put a green timing point on the slider end and set the volume to 5%, and then on the next object have a timing point that returns the volume to normal
The default one doesn't really affect the map in anyway tho, it only gives u feedback when mapping. When u play the actual map, all the hitsounds will come from your skin (unless the map has customised hitsounds)
You mean the timeline zoom. At the top left corner of the editor screen, just left of the timeline, are two buttons marked '-' and '+'. WIth these, you can make the timeline go fast (zoomed in) or slow (zoomed out), whatever you feel most comfortable with!
4:17 does anyone know hot to change the music volume in osu! edit mode ? I tried with holding shift, or tab or Ctrl, or shit+tab, shift+Ctrl, Ctrl+tab etc... when I scroll I only move on timeline.
Son of a fuck I can't figure out for the life of me how to implement hitsounds, I have the .wav and everything, I did literally exactly as you did when you moved the .wav file into the map file and it still won't produce the hitsound wtf is wrong with me
ok I get it now. Basically: Every hitcircle MUST play a basic HITNORMAL sound (and NOT a whistle, finish or clap!!!!) in one of the 3 possible sets: normal, soft, or drum. The only sound playable from one of the 3 choices of set in the SAMPLESET dropdown thigny is the HITNORMAL one. You cannot play a whistle, a finish or a clap when selecting hitsounds in the SAMPLESET set!!!! Dude that was not clear at all to me. And THEN, you can add any configuration of whistle, finish and clap that you want on top of the basic HITNORMAL sound, but THEY MUST ALL BE FROM THE SAME SET. Finally, the additions set doesn't have to be the same as the sampleset set. You can choose a drum hitnormal in addition with a soft clap and finish, for example.
No, keysounding is the greatest thing ever and the pinnacle of hitsounding. I'm tired of seeing this "keysounding doesn't provide feedback" propaganda... Mapping should evolve from its primitive restrictions and in my opinion no rhythm game is complete and "authentic" without keysounding.
4:56 kills me for some reason lmao
me too
same
SAME XDDDDD
*nuke noises*
"It isn't too quiet for feedback"
Good video, there really shouldn't be any ranked maps in 2016 with flawed hitsounding but I still see them every so often, hope this will help
5:00 dank memes vine compilation V29

"One of the easiest things to understand" - I didn't understand anything :/
Me neither bro, this makes no sense.
my brain turned off, i am pretty sure i understand but i just continue to forget.
New mappers: Hitsounding is so tiring
Keysounders: is that so?
5:01 I don't know why I am laughing so hard-
New to beatmapping, hitsounding surely doesn't seem easy for me...
Sas Da Great same
"reference other ranked maps"
Me: *has hitsounds disabled aside from my skin's*

jesse1412's moonlight sonata is a hitsounding masterpiece
I've been mapping for years and honestly didn't understand how to hitsound until this video. Gosh bless you, pishifat.
I was confused, but somehow after watching this it became easier... maybe is because i came back with clear mind idk
I was really hoping you would reference dragonforce - seasons :(
Cool, another interesting topic
Take a shot every time pishifat says "sample set".

yeah yeah it is
Sometimes hitsounds is something that i feel soooo lazy to make about mapping
@Remurie when players are just going to disable it since they opted comfortability,
5:01 Loud = funny 😂😂
BEARIZM AS A BAD EXAMPLE LOOOOL
I just make them blend because when I started playing, hitsounds literally RUIN songs.
RIP
love your voice
i feel insulted and enlightened at the same time. thank you phishifat
Hitsounding is easy, but it's time consuming and finding the right sound is a pain.
i have never been good with memory or organizing so timing is really hard
pishi can you explain Keysounding more in depth? :) I want to learn how to use one
Note: you'll probably need to use custom hitsounds, since the default ones suck.
But when I play maps I always override custom beatmap hitsounds with my skin's ones D:
The default one doesn't really affect the map in anyway tho, it only gives u feedback when mapping. When u play the actual map, all the hitsounds will come from your skin (unless the map has customised hitsounds)
That map at 4:20 or something, it was going really fast. May i ask how to make it go like that ?

Sas Da Great found that out 5 days ago, Tahnks anyways :^)
420 >U>
Man I really just made a map and can't figure out how to sound it
I understand how but don't know how to apply it
how to turn of osu tambourine and drum noises
4:17 does anyone know hot to change the music volume in osu! edit mode ?

You can go into View -> Volume in the top left of the window and it'll give you volume sliders.

I love your voice
Okay but how do i add the finish sound
HOW DO I DO THIS IN OSU MANIA
i legit dont touch this...
Son of a fuck I can't figure out for the life of me how to implement hitsounds, I have the .wav and everything, I did literally exactly as you did when you moved the .wav file into the map file and it still won't produce the hitsound wtf is wrong with me
did you set a timing point to a custom sampleset (as seen at 2:06)
won't work if it's set to default still
Yes? It says S1 now instead of S
I know it's 9 months late but
Did you add 1 or 2 to the file's name?
God damn it, I always used a skin with only clap sounds so now I'm fucked lol
