Yes, you can bring down prices, thru price controls. But then, supply would dry-up and there would be nothing to sell. For an example: See the old Soviet Union....

If profit is 3 times where the normal amount of profit would be, you most certainly can have price controls as long as they are spread throughout evenly. Companies are greedy when they don't have anyone to compete against, and that's what politicians have made it to be with excess tariffs. What's the foreign equivalent of a Caterpillar or a Boeing? Car insurance for example. Sure--there may be a lack of parts due to more EV's on the road, but really I don't think so because EV's are a stupid idea that won't work here. That's not a random variable that causes me to not want to make, insure or sell cars anymore. If no one was generous, and everyone only thought only about themselves, no country would stand. Our politicians seem to think generosity is gifts. Sorry, gifts make slaves. Start small. Set a Jack's Pizza at 2 bucks each and watch the big guys shake.

You’re right about how too many government rules can hurt competition and make prices go up. When the government adds lots of tariffs and regulations, it’s really hard for new businesses to start. Without new competitors, big companies don’t have to worry about keeping prices low or improving their products. This can make them lazy and greedy.
