Sheaves of wheat were formed by thrashing (usually by hand in those days) and then binding a large armful of the wheat together. The wheat was then left in an upright position in the fields to dry like that for a few weeks, and then transported to the barns. If the wheat was left laying on the ground it would rot and be of no use. The song, Bringing in the Sheaves refers to Christians going out into the world and helping to bring the Harvest, (sinners), into Gods care.
haha yea the part where mr edwards gave the letter to the "postman" and he said why are you sending this to the same town youre in...or something like that and mr.edwards yells at him...haha...that was a great part.
@flyleaf4me I like your spirit! In fact, I love it. I would be happy if the old mannerisms would return. I feel people in the US South (I live in the North, in Chicago) are closer to the tradition than the northerns. We are kind of cold asses up here. Regards, Leo M., Chicago
@flyleaf4me Not if Lady Gaga has anything to say about it! I prefer Lady Agag, which is the Amelikite king in 1 Samuel 15 that Samuel "hewed Agag to pieces".
@dinosammy1 I never said christians did that. But Christianity is plagerized. There are numerous documentaries on it, comparing it to the egyption religion.
Except Christianity is plagerized from the egyption religion, pretty much word from word. The only thing different is the names.. but even those are similar.

I sometimes wish I lived back then it was a simpler time
I love this episode.
I grew up with all of these hyms because I was raised Baptist. They are always signing "Bringing in the Sheaves." LOL
I love Victor French, I was so sad when he died.
