My parents were not Buddhist. My mum went to church every weekend faithfully. They were Catholic and I'm so proud of them eventhough we have different faith & beliefs. I've never wanted to convert my mum, thanks to Rinpoche for He always reminded us not to convert other people but let them see for themselves that we've changed. Be a good Buddhist, Christian, Hindu or whatever you have faith in. Learn the Dharma or scriptures well, and even though we don't know a lot but most importantly to practice what we've learnt. That's it.
It's so true. Even though I've started to practice Buddhism only, my mum didn't stop me. When I was around visiting her in KL, she would have gone to KFR, Bentong with me as that was the time she can sort of like 'hang out' with my and my girls (her grandchildren) . She stayed in KFR before too, went to different pujas, volunteered, participated in some programmes and even went to DS trance! That was the last she followed me around. After that she went in and out of the hospital often and now she has passed away. Listening to this video, I'm so glad I've listened to Rinpoche. Just be myself, and be the best version of me and not forcing my family members to accept too as they have their own beliefs. Life is too short, make it meaningful. Thanks Pastor for uploading this.
