The Accord's ability after 4 years to still consistently be one of the quickest family sedans while also being the most balanced overall is very impressive.
Agreed
The Honda's detuned version of the Civic Type R's engine and its excellent 10 speed transmission are truly impressive. But the new 2.5L turbo in the Korean vehicles and their much improved DCT may well be tweaked to improve its performance in upcoming versions. As for Toyota, the Camry's somewhat old-in-the-tooth naturally aspirated V6 won't shine in this kind of comparison. Of course, Toyota could turbocharge that engine to improve the Camry's performance but that would risk putting a dent (even a minor one) in Toyota's reputation for reliability. And that's something that Toyota is very unlikely to risk.
@@stephenhendricks103 never know, they teamed up with unreliable bmw to build the supra 🤣
Many drivers reported that their Honda Accords had engine problems regarding oil consumption. The engines would burn through oil far more rapidly than usual, forcing drivers to replenish their oil too often. Replacing the oil could add up fast, and fixing the actual problem can cost $1,200 or more.
I have been loving my 2020 Accord Sport 2.0T. It’s a real sleeper. The power delivery and the driving dynamics just feel more refined and it all feels more buttoned down than the competitors, IMO. For me that’s more important than some of the tech lacking and less premium materials inside. Not that there is anything really wrong with their interiors.
The reaction time of the Sonata driver was slower than my dead grandmother.
Dude was asleep at the wheel just about every launch.
To me in shows the capability on that N-Line even more. Being about to reel in the accord was certainly impressive.
Lmao 😂🤣🤣🤣
@@phuxtick what is a launch?
Yes , actually your'e right 😂
Wow! Sonata N-line is impressive. If the driver was more familiar with Sonata, I think the result would have been a complete sweep. Camry and the Accord have always been the top sellers year after year before the SUV craze, but maybe Sonata & K5 will creep into their market-share being equally quality cars, or maybe even better.
Honda and Toyota are known for their reliability, and both these brands are practical as well. while one can't say the same for the Hyundai.
@@truthonly7196 where you get that from? Legit question. I bought a sonata 13, 2.0t at 18k miles, sold it at 250k miles, still running fine. Best car I have ever owned.

The accord is definitely underrated on power
@@akaDICworldwide the tlx is still slower bud
@@jimmypena2442 I don’t think it’s underrated or it makes it to the wheels. Pretty sure that little turbo lag helps with initial grip and then when the turbo kicks in it’s already got grip. If it was really underestimated the sonata wouldn’t catch up so well.
@@ajl6854 there's almost no appreciable lag.
It's making what the RDX or TLX are rated at.
@@smokesgtp then it’s just the lower power and gearing that might be helping it grip better initially. Either way if it were underrated and had more power to the wheels it would be spinning the wheels as well and better on the top end.
Love your channel and I must say the bass in your vids is fantastic! Sounds amazing on my Edifiers!
Sonata is no joke damn. This is why I bought one….it is very fast. Refined premium interior and legendary warranty
Now that's the comparison I've been waiting for! Thanks
They should have switched cars to be sure it wasn’t a driver who sucks . Lol
My thoughts exactly. I bet that would have made a difference.
The conclusion from this video:
1. Despite some reactions/launch issue, Camry is ALWAYS the loser regardless, in any mode. So Turbo owns?
2. The extra 40 HP on Sonata over the Accord is noticed as it allows the Sonata to catch up towards the end.
Good runs
@I hate Dummies
Only if u keep it 10+years
@I hate Dummies yes cheers to many more boring driving years. Life is too short for boring cars.
The camry xse has not turbo, so the reaction after launch is the issue compared to the other ones. Obviously slower than the rest
Exactly 😁
"extra 40 hp", on paper maybe.
All I know is that I love my '20 Honda Accord Touring 2.0T and I look forward to driving it every single day!

The reliability of these new Honda’s is shit
That 01 civic you have is known for overheating and blowing head gaskets.
If you've ever drove any of these cars the Sonata is definitely the quickest car of the 3. It spins to much to be a lauch demon but has crazy performance when you're already rolling.
Another great video, love your editing! See ya soon!
See you soon bud
High horsepower is good and all but the way that power is delivered is a factor and the driver's reaction time plays a part
You need a walkie talkie to communicate with the other drivers for better sync and timing.
We have 3
The driver in the accord definitely have faster reaction then the other 2 drivers🤣
That 10 speed transmission in the Accord is just way more responsive. Still on the top end, that 311 torque of the Sonata will always walk it down though.
I think it’s the better transmission at work.
@@galacticmaui2 Faster transmission, not necessarily better and Toyota and Hyundai have more durable transmission than Honda. They have very few transmission failure compared to Honda.
@@Marlon_J We wouldn’t know in regards to this specific transmission so I’d hold judgment in the meantime.
@@galacticmaui2 what you mean? It's been out long enough to see how well it performs. Unless you're talking about reliability, which would be besides point.
I’d love to see the K5 GT, accord, and Camry race! (Yes I know the sonata and the K5 GT have the same engine, but still) would be awesome to see! Great video!!
It will come
the K5, sonata, and accord would be a good race
The 3rd run sport mode, the sonata had a terrible late launch. I think that is the same sonata throttle house raced with that defect in the launch control system that you mentioned. You are doing it right launching at 2k rpm.
Sonata N line doesn’t like launches, this is my second race
@@SamCarLegion Dude's Right. Heard that the Pre-Production Sonata N-Line has some bugs, Because if the K5 was destroying the Accord then there is no way the N-Line wouldn't be able to do the same.
@@boygonewhoopdataZZ yep
@@SamCarLegion did you engage the launch control? You mentioned the sonata doesn't like the brake and gas at the same time which is part of how you put it into launch. Try Sport+ >>> hold the traction control until stability is off >>> hold brake and gas to floor >>> use cruise control adjuster to set RPM >>> let of brake
He's launching terrible. Saying the Sonata doesn't launch is ridiculous. It's quick af off the line
2:55 for race
3:45 second run
4:32 third run
Personally Sam, I prefer roll races on FWD cars because some much goes into launching that it really doesn’t show the cars full potential. I still feel the N line is much faster than the accord as shown in the rolling race. How do you feel?
I'm SHOCKED the Sonata took the Accord by THAT MUCH in the 2nd run in full sport mode. Even if the Accord is givin' up 50hp to the Hyundai, that Accord is QUICK, so the Sonata is VERY impressive.
Honestly I want all of them but I’ll go with the sonata because it’s pretty quick and launch isn’t everything
@@ChumpChangeIndustries I've had the N line since May and it's an absolutely amazing car. If Hyundai just gave us a limited slip differential it would be the complete package. Otherwise it's an excellent ride and really surprises a lot of people.
I’m pretty sure the 2nd lap was a sport + which the accord doesn’t have.
@@SaintsSF90 likely. 👍✌️
A Hyundai is never “impressive”. It’s cheap crap. Same with Kia. Crap.
I'm not sure but if the K5 GT consistently outperforms the Sonata N-Line in this particular drag race mission the difference may be Hyundai's decision to lean toward a more premium vibe with a softer launch compared to the KIA's decision to accept more torque steer while emphasizing performance in their GT model. It's noteworthy that the Sonata's greatest advantage was in the rolling start comparison where its larger, stronger 2.5L engine was already engaged.
If he wouldn’t have changed the rpms it makes a difference
That may be true. Looking at several video tests of the K5 GT and Sonata N Line, it seems the reviewers usually have more difficulty getting a good launch from the Sonata vs the Kia. Watching the reviewer trying to get a good launch from the Sonata during the Redline review was downright comical.
It doesn’t I’ve beaten k5 gt’s with my sonata.
Watching this made me proud that I own a 2.0 Accord 😊
I've got the 1.5. Which is 1.8 seconds slower. But I went for gas mileage. But I've contemplated going to the 2.0.
@@ajpeeps9829 makes sense. I went for the v6 instead of the 2.0t just because the v6 sounds better makes more power etc proven engine and no direct injection problems that 2.0t engines have. Great races! Exactly what I wanted to see. Still trying to negotiate with Kia dealers regarding a new K5 GT as opposed to the GT1 which is about $5K more at close to $37K. The Hyundai sales people were annoying me. Accord is a great car, don't get me wrong, but these are the shiny new objects at the moment. I would not be surprised if Honda and Toyota are watching these and maybe taking some notes for the next generation models coming down the Pike. You are really the only one that is actually comparing all of these cars head to head. I guess Throttlehouse but they never figured out how to launch it correctly, not to mention the sub-zero conditions and a brand new car.

@@SamCarLegion So, I did not get the K5 GT. Instead, yesterday I traded my 18 Accord Sport 2.0 for the Sonata Nline. So far, it is fantastic so hopefully that will continue. One thing is definite, the driver assist cruise control is significantly better. The car pretty much drives itself whereas the Accord ping pongs you between lanes before it all together just stops working.

Thanks for the comparison! That Accord having the smallest engine/HP is a BEAST!!
The Accord (Sport trim 3330 lb , Touring 3430 lbs) are also the lightest and likely underrated.. I think theyre making what the TLX 2.0t is rated at ..which is 272 hp and 280 lb-ft. So once you account pw/wt , theyre fairly similar.

Hell yeah those cars don't need a bunch of horsepower they just run so damn good. From point A to point b there's nothing better on the road. The only one that can compete is the Toyota Corolla and Camry are very good cars also. But they put everything else to shame. Nissan used to be good decades ago but they fell to the wayside... I've always been a big Honda Civic Si person, 8th generation 9th & 10th! I decided to trade in my 2019 Honda Civic SI for the 2020 Honda Accord 2.0t touring. Both cars are extremely nice comfortable very good seating position & engaging to drive. My wife likes the Accord because of the automatic transmission & she can actually drive it but when it comes to having fun & hauling ass I had them both tuned on K-tuner they're very close in speed. For me I like both of them VERY well probably a tie, the Accord probably looks a little more grown up & has lil more room. Both of them are hella reliable I don't think you can go wrong if you take care of them🚗💨
And light. I love my 1.5. And being 1.8 seconds slower in a 0-60 is amazing. And switch it to Econ and it great on gas.
it’s the 10 speed transmission that makes it so damn good
The k20c4 in the accord makes more hp then what it's officially rated at.
It's nice to see Hyundai make great strides over the years. I currently own a 2013 Sonata 2.0t Limited which was their sport version at the time. I can say this while it might not be the fastest car out there but it has certainly surprised a few people and I had it up to 150mph once.

The "N Line" isn't an official "N", correct?
Yes it is not N
Hyundai needs to do something about the two different lines because it makes no sense. If they added a louder exhaust and more sporty detailing you literally could call this Sonata an N. I did read the other day that Hyundai was thinking about dropping the "N" in the future and moving everything to "N line" in terms of branding, but who knows.

@@oc9711 lol, you ain’t beating my sonata n line. The k5 GT is quicker than your vehicle
Give that to the k5 GT
I’ve heard the Camry pulls a lot of power to avoid wheel spin even with TC turned off which makes sense, the v6 puts out over 300hp on the dyno but by the looks of it gets limited
Dynos don’t mean a thing. One dyno can say 220 another dyno will spit out 270. 1/4 mile trap speed is the best indicator of power and a Camry is not trapping higher than an accord.
Torque is the more important metric here. The naturally aspirated 2GR isn't going to offer the kind of low-RPM torque the turbocharged engines will as these cars rack through gears.
Remember, power is a measure of the work being done. It's mathematically derived. Torque is a measure of how hard it's turning, the force applied. HP = (RPM * lb-ft) / 5252. The torque the engine delivers depends on its RPM, and as RPM goes up so to ultimately does power. That engine is putting out way less than 300 HP for most of the time it spends accelerating because the engine isn't spinning fast enough to reach that point except at the very end of each gear before then immediately shifting down again.
This sort of race is the domain of forced induction engines and electric motors.
Lol buddy aint no camry putting 300hp on a dyno, they are only 302 to the crank.

Test the Accord with Hondata Stage 2, traction and launch control. The Accord is also notoriously quick off the line with a handbrake launch (Brake Hold).
Interesting
I understand that Hyundai was trying to control torque steer but it really does hurt the car that they didn't allow it to launch the way it should
That accord is a different breed
Can you do nissian maxima vs Hyundai Sonata n line
This one is much more accurate to my experience with my N-line then the throttle house race that had the n-line way at the back. The 600lb lighter weight of the accord and its more tuned traction control really let it take off out the line easily, but that 8 speed and the turbo setup in the n-line make it punch way above its weight in almost any rolling race.
You’re not just wrong, you’re 110% wrong.
Accord Curb Weight: 3430 lbs.
N Line Curb Weight: 3552 lbs.
Where are you pulling “600 lbs” from? It’s hardly a 100 lb difference. The Accord is better period.

Considering to get a second hand 2018 accord 2.0T. Do you think it would be a big difference between that and the 2021 model? I'm thinking on performance and mechanics more than accesories and other stuff.

Get a K5 GT and you’ll smoke all the Accord owners, even with Hondata, because I got 4.88secs 0-60 for my sonata on summer tires.
