Done GC to York - in 1st. No complaints - nice relaxed and often less crowded cabin - although I do find the leather seats a bit harder than the LNER material coverings.
The Class 180 Adelante units have certainly been about a bit during the past two decades! The first time I encountered one (and travelled First Class) was with GWR on their Reading to Worcester route through the scenic Cotswold Hills. I was impressed by just how comfortable the seats were and thought that these five-coach Diesel-hydraulic trainsets would be ideal for the Portsmouth to Cardiff via Southampton, Salisbury and Bristol route. My most recent encounter with a Class 180 was last weekend, travelling with West Midlands Railway between London and Nottingham, in a unit which still had First Hull Trains branding material on the inside! There was power aplenty to cope with the steep climbs to the three gable summits at Sharnbrook, Desborough and Kibworth. Where Grand Central falls down is in its lack of a really outstanding First Class complimentary catering offer, along the lines of what the late, much-lamented Wrexham, Shrewsbury and Marylebone Railway used to offer! Incidentally, if you are travelling north along the East Coast Main Line from York, the market town of Thirsk ("Darrowby" in the James Herriot novels) comes before, not after, Northallerton!
Do they accept disabled Railcards I wonder, also in normal times what would the first class meal would be like ? I was in Newcastle station on Monday and spotted a Grand Central train set.
They accepted my disabled persons one without question. I think to avoid blocking the metro at Sunderland , they instead run empty to Heaton depot and back .
@ 9:20. Please someone do a whip around and raise the £10 to donate to the staff at Hartlepool station to buy a weeding wand or spray to get rid of those weeds on the unused platform before they cover up those lovely posters.
I don’t mind them at all, if I didn’t have to pay full price and they accepted my railcard I’d probably use them more - I just find that the old HST’s and azuma’s are a much smoother ride than an Adelante.
I have been on Grand Central Class 180 Adelante. From London King's Cross to York and back.

Yeah I know - I think I meant to say Yarm and not Thirsk, thanks for watching.
East Midlands Railway?

Hi, they accept the main railcard cards including disabled (both adult and child), just not mine.

What day did you travel? I think I may have filmed your train at HPL that's all

I have planned this route planned for the new year.
My main city centre
I don’t really get why people think grand central is a bad train I think it’s cool
I agree. After watching this video, it looks really gray because it’s comfortable. My grandma’s house has seat💺 like that
