God damn. A GMC Jimmy that had contemporary WRX-like acceleration numbers back in the early 90s... I remember when these things hit the streets and wiped the smarmy smirk off of many Corvette/Z28/Trans Am/5.0/Ricer/Euro sports-car owner's faces. It goes to show what GM engineers could achieve when the bean-counters loosened their leash a little.

348tb is 170mph. I dont believe the typhoon is faster. Also the acceleration is 5.5 0-60 from the 348tb and i am sure it is faster/better accelerating in a rolling start compared to the typhoon.

This seems to be a conversation that goes on at every TV and movie company in existence. | Low-level employee: "Hey, look at all these old episodes in this closet! We should put these online or something! People would LOVE this old stuff!!" | Manager: "I know you're young and energetic, but that's not how things work around here. Consumers don't want to watch old stuff. It's just that simple. Just throw them away." | Employee: "But...but....all this valuable content?? My friends ask me about stuff like this all the time!! Why can't we just put them on UA-cam or something? It's FREE!" | Manager: "Do you ever look at the ratings for TV shows? Consumers want REALITY shows, crime dramas, and to see untalented singers get mocked for having no talent. Nobody wants to see 30-year-old shows about cars." | Employee: "But...but...." | Manager: "Ok whatever. I'm going to meet a couple of our sponsors for a round of golf this afternoon. Do whatever you want with those old tapes, but I want them out of this closet by the end of the day. We have some environmental monitoring equipment to install in here before the end of the month." | 5 hours later......manager returns from golf outing. | Employee: "You'll never believe this!! I just uploaded 20 of these old episodes to UA-cam, and they've already gone viral. We have over 100,000 views already!!" | Manager: "What's a U-Tube?"

29k was alot for a car back in 92. But 0-60 in 5.3s is very impressive for a SUV type vehicle. You don't see either this or the cyclone too often, if ever! So rare. Jay Leno has a cyclone. He did a Jay Leno's garage shoot with it. It's pretty sweet.

I had a good laugh one day. Some guy tried to say these had the same turbo engine that was in the Buick GN's and GNX's. Sorry to burst his bubble and for anyone else. The Buick's has a 3.8L turbo ( same for the 90's Turbo T/A ) and the GMC had a 4.3L turbo. Not the same beast.
