      This! Me too! Skincare especially feels impossible to figure out for a lay person. (And if you happened to do a video about skincare for tweens, as well as women in their 40s, I would super owe you. My 12 year old needs help.) But also, I loved your functional planning/planners/tools content, I hope that comes back. That might overlap with the ADHD stuff, though. (Have you seen the brili app? I'm here for learning about any tools like that.)

    So happy that you’re back. I love the idea of videos about being a homeschool mom in your 40s. Homeschooling takes motherhood to a whole different level. I’d like to hear your opinion about balancing homeschooling, parenting, and marriage. I’m in my 5th year and I can’t remember the last time that I wasn’t burning the candle at both ends. It is extremely challenging finding energy for all the things.

    LOL @ being in your 40s - I 100% agree with ALL of what you said - LOL. That will be very applicable to me! Speaking of 40s, my skin has changed SO MUCH in such a bad way in the past two years! I can't even wear makeup right now, it's so bad! So I'm looking forward to the "empties" videos - if you have anything for extremely dry and sensitive skin, I'd love to hear it!

    • @ProjectHappyHome
      @ProjectHappyHome  4 місяці тому +1

      For sure! Two of my favorite products for dry and sensitive skin are the Avene Cicalfate repair cream and the La Roche Posay Baume B5 Cicaplast cream (both in tubes). But remember to hydrate your face first with either water or a hydrating essence/toner.

    I agree that a lot of curricula can be adapted to your family/child. I might even say that most curricula _should_ be adapted to your family/child. And I’ve had the experience where a particular curriculum option that I absolutely hated for one child ended up being awesome for another. So I try so hard to think through challenges/feelings I’m having with curriculum to see if it’s something that I can overcome. And I love your future plans for videos. I’ve also wanted to change things up, especially as I’ve been going through my mid-life journey (trying not to call it a crisis, LOL) and as I face turning 50(!) this year. I like your idea of incorporating your topics of interest into this channel. Looking forward to seeing more!

    So good to be able to see another great vedio from you. I cannot express in words how much you have inspired and guided me through this last past year, not only regarding the curriculums or books choices for my daughter, but also personally... I might have gone through every one of your curriculum vedios more than a dozen times... They are so rich and well rounded in terms of book suggestions and teaching ideas, that every time I watch them, there is something new that I pick up that I might have missed or glossed over... To be truly honest, I was a little sad when I saw you have stopped posting about curriculums... The vedios where you layout the whole year's worth of curriculums and books are a gold mine for people like me, who tend to be so overwhelmed with the process.... I really appreciate them not just beacuse they are all laid out for you but also because they are so well researched and thorough.
    Please keep making more Full year Curriculum vedios for your girls too...
    More flip throughs...
    More book recommendations for Mommy mornings...
    Curriculums Like Oak meadow and blossom and root, IEW, MCT etc for example.....

    I do the same, I evaluate to see if my kids want to continue on their homeschool journey. (we are 7 years in) Unfortunately, here where I live, once the kid gets into high school, it gets kind of sticky so it's an all or nothing. And I wish it wasn't because I think I may have possibly failed my 12th grader. She has Asperger's but was never very enthusiastic about doing school work and I'm afraid she's going to fail when she goes to college next year. 😢
    However, I look forward to all the videos as I have an 8th grader son too!

      Hey, thanks so much for taking the time to share your experience. As someone who switched my academic tracks a few times, I think one thing that I’ve learned is that there isn’t a real timeline to this thing. If your daughter is taking some time to find her groove, in academics or perhaps in less traditional paths, it is alright. There is time enough to wander and even flounder a bit. If you did the best you could, be gentle with yourself. We moms are so hard on ourselves. I am trying really hard to be kinder to myself, and I wish you the same ease. In it together, friend.

    So glad to see a video from you!
    My lineup of kids is very similar to yours - 7yo boy, 5yo and 1yo girls. I worry so much about being able to provide a social network for them that isn’t just eachother. The oldest two are still learning to read and the youngest has a strict nap schedule. All of that makes it hard to find time for friends!
    Was there a time that getting out and making friends got easier for y’all? How did you manage to make it all work?

    • @ProjectHappyHome
      @ProjectHappyHome  4 місяці тому +1

      That season of life made it tough for us to form lasting connections as well! I kept dragging my introverted self to classes and meetups in the hopes of finding genuine connections. And we went a few years without meaningful and consistent friendships, honestly. But it changed when I happened upon the right people - and it *will* happen if you keep putting yourself out there, I promise. If you’re ever super uncomfortable, look for other awkward people in the group - that always helped me find fellow kindred spirits. Good luck!!

    My oldest was never homeschooled . He’s now in 10th grade. I plan to homeschool my younger boys year by year. One is kindergarten and the other will be in prek. I’m literally counting down the days for the pick up and drop off lines to be over! I feel like it’s the worst part for me. So much time wasted just waiting in a line. I can’t imagine doing this for multiple kids. 😅

    Does your state allow homeschool students to participate in extracurriculars and clubs at the local school? In Florida, they do. I haven’t tried it yet, but seriously considering it for my upcoming 6th grader. Specifically for the social aspect. Like you said, for some people, the socialization issues are REAL. My 5th grader is a big introvert. He wants to homeschool but I do believe he needs to find his tribe. So I’m trying to consider all of our options.

      Far from it, my kids loved all the friends they made at school - and they love all the friends they make thru homeschooling as well. As a former teacher myself, I think there is great merit to both systems of education. In all honesty, the children meet far more people through homeschooling. But that is not to say that homeschooling is better than school for socialization. Just different. In various seasons and stages, one or the other may suit children better. We are fortunate to be in a position to choose which route each child takes from year to year.

      There is no great merit to destroying the public education system. The reason we have a public education system across all states is so we all learn the same lessons about America, so we all have a similar understanding of our country. “ United States of America,”
      Not so homeschoolers can teach their children some revisionist form of history, or how to be terrorists.
