Since I did film this back in March there are a few things that are out of date.... Book Depository as I'm sure most of you know has closed down (RIP) and Booksplease 10% discount code no longer works 😭😭 They have a 5% off one still but its not the same 🥲 Apologies!!!!
Good suggestions! I use all of these but I mostly use Forbidden planet, but with the price increases and more to come from viz, I think i wont be in a rush to pre order as much now. Also certain volumes never got sent and just pending 'awaiting stock' for months and months, or got a silent cancellation with no notice, just disappeared from my order. Then you have to find elsewhere 😅
Forbidden Planet in Cambridge is a much nicer shopping experience than London, not as big but a good selection of manga (still 3 for 2 on Viz and Seven Seas), light novels and new fantasy/sci-fi novels. I totally agree that the London store basement is not pleasant, especially on a busy day. 😬
I don’t know the history of Blackwell’s but growing up I knew it to be a university bookshop, so I was surprised to hear that they sold Manga. Unfortunately, they were bought out by Waterstones and don’t have any offers in the bricks and mortar store in Liverpool, though the manager is very knowledgable and helpful. Forbidden Planet Liverpool has shrunk its Manga section and again has a select 2for1 selection. World’s Apart, Liverpool is the best place that I’ve found so far for your Manga needs. It is in the basement so can also be a little stuffy. Although it seems to have the largest selection of Manga, they do have the western comic books down there as well, in different sections. Like Forbidden Planet it also sells merch, figures and other apparel. Hope this helps anyone.
Im in Ireland and Blackwells prices always include shipping so its just over retail but with their pre orders, the prices are sometimes €2-3 less than retail, i get most of my viz pre orders for €7 something instead of €10 or oversized vols for €10 something instead of €13 (and the pre order prices include shipping!!!)
Booksplease voucher no longer works for those in the comment section who didn't see on the discord. 😢 Right now there's only a 5% off code, and that's 5% off the whole order, so not a lot! But it's something....! I agree that the search function isn't great, but I've found a lot of great stuff on there through trial and error. Book Depository's gone now too, aaaah! D:

I'd never used World of Books until the Discord and now I'm always on there 😂.
I AM VERY SORRY

Oh nice! Yeah I feel Blackwells can be really good for preorders sometimes 😤

oh my gosh yes
I'm going to pin a comment I shouldn't've left it so long to post this one 🤣🤣
you do get discount if you have a Waterstones card but it’s not much and you accumulate points which turn into money and you can use
Waterstones brought Blackwell's last year, but they are run pretty much independently.
Book Depository was the best there was online. Sadly it's gone now ...
RIP.
My bad, this is what I get for recording in March 🤣🤣
Gone but not forgotten 💖💖
Always try searching the author / artist with Books Please and world of books, tends to bring up more matches.
I liked the vid, but it sounds like you're underwater a little. Audio feedback issue?
Appreciate the info!
