The best aspect of this concept is that the souls dont turn papyrus into a demigod of some sort, they turn him into a monster with horrifying abillities that doesn't even resemble papyrus anymore
this being a plot point in a real horror game with asgore as the main villain would be horrifying. during one of the usual lore dumps, one of the characters (alphys perhaps, and the game could begin in the hotlands at the save at the crossroads) "the power of six human SOULs would almost instantly destroy the body of any monster who were to consume them, but.." We saw what happened to Flowey/Asriel, they were a child and still took on ideas nightmarish enough. What is godhood, but a canvas for what we might see? The unexplainable.
Yeah, I believe Asriel's/flowey's form was so tame compared to this is because of the fact that he's really only a child, and how he's not a monster. Technically, for all intents and purposes, he's a living flower with some magic - a monster with a monster's soul would have been driven to madness and destroyed if they were to use 7, let alone 6 human souls, but Flowey is only a vessel, so he's practically made for this. I love the Souls phase driving Papyrus insane because it brings something I've been thinking about since I saw that Seraphim Sans AU thing: If souls in the Undertale Universe are the cause for most emotions, and a soul still retains partial autonomy, doesn't that sound like something that would make an average person insane? Imagine suddenly feeling 6 other consciousnesses in your head, that each have a different personality from you, that you can only partially control?
A little late here, but i've noticed a lot of people ignore the ending. Papyrus after absorbing the souls only momentarily loses control, this is reflected in his constant melting/changing shape and the fact the souls are only attacking you at first. Slowly he gets used to his powers, the forms he takes on resemembling his original self more, he starts participating in the attacks until he is the only one attacking you. At the end, he completely reforms and seemingly defeats the human instantly. If Omega Flowey, a being without any soul of his own, was capable of controling the timeline, then a strong monster with a soul and 12 LV would be much more powerful.
As much as I hate Dustbelief, this is simply *chefs kiss* A great twist on the aborted Dusttale because of Papyrus' self defense, and the phases are very creative. Staying as true as possible to Papyrus' character in an au where he willingly kills dozens. Also... the 3rd phase is genuinely a masterpiece. Seriously. No godlike powers, no easy victory, it shows what gaining that power, toying with determination could REALLY do to somebody. Turning them into a monster. And also THIS is true horror! No jumpscares, just eerie, unsettling imagery, tone etc.
can i just mention how creative these attack patterns are? and man that transformation, seeing papyrus completely vanish and only his grinning smile and eyes be seen are SO SPOOKY, the walten files vibes i got from that went through the roof! *30:12* OH MY GOD WHAAAAATTT 31:54 this is creepy on so many levels... Props to the devs cause this game... WOO. my goodness it's crazy
I know I’m late to the party, but 0:06? Yeah, I feel that. Do the same on every menu screen with an options theme and a select sound. I support this with my very being
Finally, something that truly shows the insanity and madness of s genocide Rute for the characters, that everyone you have met dies to the hands of this human, maybe not even one, while knowing that in the end you are next, is so terrifying, it's good to see a fan game finally understanding that instead of just i forgive you stuff, if someone killed every person you cared about, every person you have met and saw, hell all your kind dies to an different being you are not just going to still be the same sane person, insanity Is a concept that while it doesn't look something massively bad in hand, when you feel it it's when the true horrifying truth comes, happy to see someone understanding how brutal and terrifying can be an genocide Rute for the characters
actually it uses undertale logic and papyrus removed his own souls because he will die if he doesn’t which caused him to lose the white soul and become a demon
The fact paps never truly was a bossfight and once he let you go he kept trying to forgive you. And now he is actually trying to hurt you. He never actually had armor so he collected all sorts of weapons and things such as undynes helmet. He trys to mimic atacks of all the others. He is no longer forgiving you. Its just sad how goofy his bossfight is and how it just looks like he is having fun. But this truly shows how much he cares about everyone.
this is insane!! i did sneak a peek at the comments & saw a few freaking out over the "ai" art part & i was a bit skeptical but nO SIR THIS IS TERRIFYINGLY MARVELOUS!!
I was expecting this to be like every other fangames, but the souls part completely caught me off guard. Kudos to the people who made this, it was unexpectedly horrifying
My perspective of phase 3 The six souls at first turns him into a God, as he questions his decisions, his soul slowly is being destroyed as it turns into nothing. When his soul is finally 100% gone, he turns into a monstrosity of which is his mind clouded by his actions to which doesn't reassemble papyrus anymore. At the end in which he looks (SLIGHTLY) normal, it's him trying to reform himself from his old beliefs but unfortunately he cannot do that completely as you leave the battle and let this Papyrus-Like abomination stand there and try to reform itself being unable to fight, act, using items, or even show it mercy. It just stands endlessly as if a fate worse than death.
And it's also confirmed by creator that right after the fight Papyrus kills the player instantly (even tho it may look like it has been at least 30 seconds) Probably Papyrus tried to change the timeline at first but ended up slowing the time a bit before going fully insane and destroying it
I just realized. A portion of the “omega papyrus” stages after the souls are gone are based on former characters. Muffet with the spider phase, napstablook with the raining tears, and possibly undyne with the spear stages… Did… did Papyrus kill Napstablook and Muffet too?
Ghosts can’t be killed by humans which is why in Undertale’s cannon genocide run you can never kill Napstablook; But the thing is… Magic can kill ghosts…. So… yes as horrible it sounds… Papyrus literally killed Napstablook with magic due to Flowery’s Manipulation (Flowey but I like how Papyrus never realized it’s Flowey and not Flowery)
It’s scary, papyrus is an lovable character who’s always sees good in all people in this world including the bad ones but when something pushes him to his limits or even him finding out that he’s just a tool in a game that he does have no idea he’s being played with? We will begin to notice how forgettable he really is. What’s an even more horrifying, we have theories of what he’s really capable of I mean what his special attack? Does he possess the gaster blasters? Is he stronger than we realize? The answer to this it’s very simple and it’s really obvious by how we see his stats description in the genocide run he’s forgettable he is easy to forget and the scary part is when we forget a face like papyrus? you can easily forget about innocence….
You know what this reminds me of? LISA. A broken man who lost all his friends relentlessly trying to reach his single goal of revenge/justice, then descending into madness and raw violence while losing both his soul and his body a.k.a. becoming a Joy/Soul mutant. Also the flying ball in his 2nd phase somewhat looks like Joy to me.
Charas's determination is truly unbeatable, while papyrus procedes to transform into a demon , chara is getting ready beat the shoot outta him for the 128,00-th time (a demon be fighting another demon)
We've already seen what happens when a soulless monster becomes a murderer, so it's really horrifying to see what happens when a murderer becomes a soulless monster.
Papyrus lost his damn soul and was like "Bruh who needs that shit?" and then went all nightmarish demon creature from pit's that are so dark that even hell it self is scared of like I am just assuming Papyrus killed the human and I mean in a way they could not come back cause dear fucking lord he lost his damn soul and didn't die he legit is like immortal in this obviously I don't know the lore of this version of dustbelief but that is how I see it like wow was this well done I legit got scared when Papyrus did that weird transformation thing whatever the hell here is what I mean if you are confused 29:58 like he is legit a god he lost his soul didn't die from that and became a god like entity like what the actual fuck Papyrus like how did you go so damn insane like if Sans saw this he would shit himself and I am talking about Dust when he tried to kill Papyrus like this is actually scary as hell like even Error would actually have a heart attack from how damn scary Papyrus was like what the hell?
No? Papyrus did NOT say that. Use your brain. Papyrus' soul was lost at the start of the phase, that was not in Papyrus' font or capitalization, and he's only had his soul gone for like 10 minutes tops. That was Chara speaking, definitively.
@@volnartheunforgiving3952 No that’s Flowey speaking because Papyrus literally killed Flowey and there is one phase of Flowey and Papyrus merged… Flowey even talks about being soulless and not needing one in Undertale canonically.
Oh my gosh, that's like a horrific primal fear. I hated that, I'm terrified, I probably won't be able to sleep for a week. It was like one of those Scrimpus Mc. Grimpis tapes, but an Undertale fight. Wfghfh. Just horrible. Very good tho! Good at it's job and good at being horrifying!
“Paspidrus isn’t real, he can’t hurt you” Paspidrus: 30:35 Also the whole idea behind phase 3 is incredibly horrifying. Papyrus can’t handle the power of the souls and it destroys his mind, leaving him in a godlike state but unable to control his own actions. Similar to Giygas in Earthbound
I like the fact that in Phase 3 the human souls won’t heal you and hate you so much that they even wanna strike you down and not heal you like in Omega Flowey fight… It also adds to the fact that the souls like Papyrus and would support his cause because despite his actions he is still guilty and his intentions are heroic no matter what in that case because of Flowey’s sick manipulative behavior and manipulation.
Самая лучшая версия Dustbelief папайруса. Мне нравится, что всё это выглядит как какая-то шизофрения. Или даже чертову преисподнюю. Я прошел это -Советую всем.
ive had this on my watch later for a while. i usually dont rly bother watching AU battles at all, im not big on most (or at least the most popular version) AUs, but currently im having a bout of particularly fucked up sleep so i decided "hey why not" and decided to watch this. im SO glad i did, i love the build up, how the puzzles are integrated into combat, the nods to the Knight papyrus theory, all That is phase 3. the memory head/giygas nod, the everyman. i can definitely see the giygas battle inspiration, and if my ears dont deceive me i can hear some sound effects and songs from LISA being used as well, so i'm pretty sure i can assume that there's inspirstion from the final stretch of the painful as well. i could say more, but its so late its circled back to early and my brain is too full of sleep to say anything smart. i might come back later to ssy more, we'll see.
This is the perfect example of showing that papyrus has been turned into nothing but a monster, a shell of himself being played as puppet for a show. The souls didn’t turn into a god but a creature.
I really wish omega flowey was like phase 3, instead of just being a big burly thing and going "HEE HEE IM A GOD LOOK AT ME!" No, he should've shown it.
ngl phase 3 was creepy as shit, but at 35:23 the whole suspension just broke for me, like the last thing I expected was a blowing type sound as a scream
So my theory as to why papyrus didn't do much with the souls is because he was in complete grief, seconding guessing everything. In he end, he had to give up his own soul to stop feeling entirely? (idk random fanboy here coming in every once a year) [another one cuz why not] Most likely a mix of insanity and grief that lead to him giving up his soul, (in UT IMO he would have become a Vessel which would just be papyrus without feelings, personality and memories intake but a Flowey mindset. With nothing to deter him, he would kill frisk out of shear boredom.) With Halos game, it's more likely that if a monsters soul is outside of there body they turn to dust. But due to papyrus having determination instead he melted, along with all of the built up insanity it created that Thing. I feel like at the start it's more like a desperate act of remembering who he was, first it's him realizing he's just a puppet in the game, then a spider(muffet memory?), cracra pap (maybe a funny memory of him, turned twisted), this. (maybe a Flowey mindset, enjoying our suffering while being angry.), then telling us he do be feelin like Flowey fr fr, no idea maybe a monster friend or a strawberry who knows!, then a second of him remembering his whole self and bravery? (maybe he feels brave, or is it us feeling brave towards HIM? who knows!) thanks for reading this garbage hope you have a good day and good luck to whatever you set your mind too
There's... Something truly unexplainable in Phase 3... Its like all hell broke loose and is after you specifically... Something is wrong, VERY wrong...
I kinda like to think of the fact he might’ve grabbed something off of some characters like undying’s helment and sword she has in her kitchen and asgores cloak I don’t think papyrus has the faster blaster bones so he might’ve token it from sans and we see in one of his attacks he using those “friendliness pellets” and Torino’s fire
There is a theory for undertale that papyrus actually DOES have blasters. If you start a genocide route, but spare papyrus and quit the route, there's a particular bit of dialogue when you go to their house and look at the box of bones in Papyrus's room. "Hey, those are all the attacks I didn't use! How lucky of you! Had I only used my Special Attack, "you surely would have been *blasted* to--"_ Note the wording. BLASTED. Papyrus is wayyy more powerful than he lets on. He controls the amount of damage he deals to Frisk _so precisely_ that it's impossible to die during his fight, even in the early games when it _was_ possible on accident, the game would straight-up crash. No other fight does this, even Toriel can kill you and still have a game over screen without crashing. He just actively chooses not to harm you. Remove his reasons for choosing mercy, remove his reasons to even live? You're soooooo dead. Super dead. Mega fucking dead.
I don’t know if anyone noticed this, but in the 3 phase you don’t have a section where you play as a bravery soul. I don’t think it wasn’t included because devs didn’t have any ideas what mechanic to give this soul. I personally think that Frisk was so scared at the end, that he had physically couldn’t be Brave

when papyrus became an absolute monstrosity by an ai i got genuinely creeped out. this fangame is good.
It explains "i forgive you!" in final part
I thought that too, like, in the end, the human was defeated instantly
(and yes, I thought the exactly same things as you)
Phase 1: Normal!
Phase 2:Cool puzzles
Phase 3:*immense sobbing* please don’t hurt my family
As much as I hate Dustbelief, this is simply *chefs kiss*
A great twist on the aborted Dusttale because of Papyrus' self defense, and the phases are very creative.
It could be halo's dustswap
Well at least we found out what’s gonna happen if a monster rejects their soul
Papyrus 's look says about it. He wears different parts of another guys like undyne's helmet.
can i just mention how creative these attack patterns are? and man that transformation, seeing papyrus completely vanish and only his grinning smile and eyes be seen are SO SPOOKY, the walten files vibes i got from that went through the roof!

"Rute" LMAO ITS "route" not rute.
From An Ordinary Fan Game Straight To A Fucking VHS Creepypasta format. This was amazing in every way.
The horror ,The despair ,The ever fear, I like this
I love how having the souls, and not even having "filled" one just turns him into extremely strong unwordly looking being instead of a demigod
actually it uses undertale logic and papyrus removed his own souls because he will die if he doesn’t which caused him to lose the white soul and become a demon

Phase 3 is just... Holy shit it's cool and scary
My perspective of phase 3
The six souls at first turns him into a God, as he questions his decisions, his soul slowly is being destroyed as it turns into nothing.
And it's also confirmed by creator that right after the fight Papyrus kills the player instantly (even tho it may look like it has been at least 30 seconds)
Probably Papyrus tried to change the timeline at first but ended up slowing the time a bit before going fully insane and destroying it
I just realized.
@@sapphichoe wait really? i just thought it was a spelling mistake
@@chrisbealonis4655 No there is a scene in Undertale where Papyrus calls “Flowey” “Flowery”
@@chrisbealonis4655 It’s due to the fact that Papyrus misheard “Flowey” and started calling “Flowey” “Flowery”
This is somehow deep.
When it comes to Undertale, I didn’t think there would be anything as disturbing as HELP_tale, but here we are.
Fun fact
I'm pretty sure The Sacrifice plays at a specific part here

30:04
what kind of sans? dust sans?
No? Papyrus did NOT say that. Use your brain. Papyrus' soul was lost at the start of the phase, that was not in Papyrus' font or capitalization, and he's only had his soul gone for like 10 minutes tops. That was Chara speaking, definitively.
Ink would be glad for error to get rid of this thing

Phase 2: yoo the ost is a banger
Phase 3: OH GREAT HEAVENS

Also the whole idea behind phase 3 is incredibly horrifying. Papyrus can’t handle the power of the souls and it destroys his mind, leaving him in a godlike state but unable to control his own actions. Similar to Giygas in Earthbound
Ngl that fetus looking thing kind of reminded me of giygas, the first thing i thought of, wondering if that's a reference or not
I like the fact that in Phase 3 the human souls won’t heal you and hate you so much that they even wanna strike you down and not heal you like in Omega Flowey fight… It also adds to the fact that the souls like Papyrus and would support his cause because despite his actions he is still guilty and his intentions are heroic no matter what in that case because of Flowey’s sick manipulative behavior and manipulation.
Imagine being such a heartless "monster" that dead children even hate you

ive had this on my watch later for a while. i usually dont rly bother watching AU battles at all, im not big on most (or at least the most popular version) AUs, but currently im having a bout of particularly fucked up sleep so i decided "hey why not" and decided to watch this.
im SO glad i did, i love the build up, how the puzzles are integrated into combat, the nods to the Knight papyrus theory, all That is phase 3. the memory head/giygas nod, the everyman.
i can definitely see the giygas battle inspiration, and if my ears dont deceive me i can hear some sound effects and songs from LISA being used as well, so i'm pretty sure i can assume that there's inspirstion from the final stretch of the painful as well.
i could say more, but its so late its circled back to early and my brain is too full of sleep to say anything smart. i might come back later to ssy more, we'll see.

This is the perfect example of showing that papyrus has been turned into nothing but a monster, a shell of himself being played as puppet for a show. The souls didn’t turn into a god but a creature.
I really wish omega flowey was like phase 3, instead of just being a big burly thing and going "HEE HEE IM A GOD LOOK AT ME!"

phase 1 is awesome
ngl phase 3 was creepy as shit, but at 35:23 the whole suspension just broke for me, like the last thing I expected was a blowing type sound as a scream
man this papyrus it would be fit so well with vhs sans
So my theory as to why papyrus didn't do much with the souls is because he was in complete grief, seconding guessing everything.
In he end, he had to give up his own soul to stop feeling entirely? (idk random fanboy here coming in every once a year)
[another one cuz why not]
Most likely a mix of insanity and grief that lead to him giving up his soul, (in UT IMO he would have become a Vessel which would just be papyrus without feelings, personality and memories intake but a Flowey mindset. With nothing to deter him, he would kill frisk out of shear boredom.)
With Halos game, it's more likely that if a monsters soul is outside of there body they turn to dust. (maybe he feels brave, or is it us feeling brave towards HIM? who knows!)

"SOULs?"
"who needs them anyways?"
"I NEVER HAD ONE."
*Becomes souless abomination of who he used to be*
I kinda like to think of the fact he might’ve grabbed something off of some characters like undying’s helment and sword she has in her kitchen and asgores cloak I don’t think papyrus has the faster blaster bones so he might’ve token it from sans and we see in one of his attacks he using those “friendliness pellets” and Torino’s fire
Had I only used my Special Attack, "you surely would have been *blasted* to--"_
Note the wording.
It turned from a funny fun game to a f*****g horror game
This has to be the scariest Undertale anything ever.

I don’t know if anyone noticed this, but in the 3 phase you don’t have a section where you play as a bravery soul.
