Big fan of Spanish ever since I learned it. In most places surveillance completely sleeps on this game too, so you can play really aggressively without worrying about heat.

I looked at the strategy card while watching this video to see how much old blackjack crept into the Spanish 21 strategy. That said, the #1 thing you can teach people playing this game - 12 is a hit against ANY dealer upcard no matter what. Even a 6.

The house edge comes from there being no 10s. Yes, the player will bust less, but so will the dealer, and since the dealer acts 2nd, that's a huge edge. You have to give all the little built in bonuses just for the game to seem fair, haha. That being said, with the right rule set, the house edge can be lower than regular BJ.

I play Spanish 21 quite a bit at my local casino in DE, just one quick tip you always want to hit 12 and 13's no matter what the dealer is showing
12s for sure (double hard 12) but 13s seems unnecessary if dealer is showing a 6. Assuming it is a 16, if you are the anchor seat and hit your 13 and get a 6 or 7 you’ve essentially taken the dealers break card and now the dealer has their chance for a 5 or lower. I know statistically it’s a yes but my experience shows otherwise. Spanish is the only game I play at the casino.

Hey nice video and win! Here in the Philippines almost all of the BJ here is in this variant. The only difference from your variant is that there is only 1 hole card for dealer until the players complete their plays. A hard 12 is always a hit when dealer is showing A -4 and 7-Face Cards. The game is very wild, but you can really do some damage if really are lucky. Glad to see a fresh video of this.

This video goes to show you don't really need to know Spanish 21 basic strategy to have success. Most of his decision making was from a Blackjack perspective and it still worked out.

You can't redouble in Spanish 21, you have the option to surrender though (still only a one card option). You can double at any time. Also, any player hard 12 or 13 is a hit because you have 4 less possible bust cards (no 10's).

Yeah some let you double as many times but you have to double your double. Ex: say you have $10 original bet and double (+$10), to redouble you’d have to pay the original bet plus the double you put so you’d have $40 on the table at that point

Alex, just did a quick search. Supposedly at the Venetian and Palazzo casinos you can find Caribbean Stud and Spanish 21 tucked away in the corners somewhere still. Just FYI.

Started today with $200 at Maryland Live and walked away with $1,200 with this game! If you notice this game always has a full table. West Virginia Hollywood you can’t ever play there because the Spanish 21 table is always full!!!

According to the Wizard of Odds website, you are supposed to hit all 13's. Most players don't follow this strategy. It is not clear why in the first hand, you instructed viewers to stay on a 13.

No Spanish 21 here at Hollywood Columbus, i asked this morning.
I played Spanish 21 for the first time yesterday - TERRIBLE. In traditional Blackjack, when a dealer draws to 21 two times in a row that's considered an extremely bad shoe. But in Spanish it's not uncommon for a dealer to draw to 21 4 or 5 times in a row.
Trust me, when you hit your 14s or 15 you will bust, but when the dealer hits his 14 or 15 he'll usually draw to 20 or 21.
This is a terrible variant.

I'm not sure at what point the insurance on the doubling works. I mean if I double 11 and get an ace against a dealer 6, should I insure and lose half my bet even though it's a dealer 6? I'm guessing most people don't know the proper betting table for this game, if there even is one.

Nice video, little critique. You CANOT re-double down in Spanish 21. You can double at any time, meaning for example if you're deal a 2 and a 3, then hit and draw a 5, you can then double down if you'd like. But you can't double down, then double down again as you stated in the beginning of the video.
Otherwise, good stuff.
You should also look up the strategy so you can play more accurately, if you're so inclined

I double double at my local casino, main reason why I'm liking the game so much. Big swings and hits with that option, much more so than standard blackjack

Higher house edge it seems like because there's less ten count cards in the deck, little cards favor the casino and higher cards favor the player
@@tylerwright497 House edge on stand on Soft 17 version is 0.4% and hose edge on Hit on Soft 17 version is 0.75%. 0.4% is lower than most BJ house edge.
Doubling down a 9 against an 18, doubling a soft 8 against a 2 showing, staying on a 12 against the 5 after the soft 6 double. Splitting tens against a dealers 8. Only half way in and so many mistakes already. I know it’s a redouble table scenario which makes it a little better but the players that come to the table and play like this not only destroys himself in minutes but ruins the cards for the remaining players for shu’s to come. When you see someone play like this at Spanish, Move!

Everytime I go to Atlantic City it's harder and harder to find a normal BJ table. Almost all the tables there seems to be Spanish 21 or some "variant" of the game to which I don't know how to play on for best odds. They make it too confusing.
When I finally find a normal BJ table it's usually jammed packed with people and you can never get a seat. As well the Min table hands are always like really expensive. You'll never find a 5 dollar BJ table in AC anymore. Now you're lucky to find an empty seat with a 25 minimum.
SO. Here I am... watching this video. Trying to learn this "variant" to which I'm not a fan of. I'm a Vanilla kind of guy. Don't start making it weird and giving me 101 toppings to choose from. Cause I'm sure in the end it's all just one more gimmic to make the player mess up so the house can take advantage of all of us "normies"
