I wonder how many people started learning Swedish because of that fantastic series Young Royals :D I'm Dutch and years ago I went to Sweden for three months (some kind of studying abroad programme). I never really learned Swedish then (except for a few words here and there), but I always loved to hear the language all around me. Young Royals reminded me of this and now I finally started learning it :D
I cought myself speaking Swedish names from the audiobook "Girl with the dragon tattoo" because it's incredibly fun to hear and pronounce them. Now I'm learning the basics, so I can watch swedish shows and learn more passively. This one is on the list.
I wish the whole video was with elin teaching us words and phrases that we can repeat. That was the most helpful. The rest is just too fast paste, difficult to repeat
@Marco Estors Why are you so ignorant and rude? English is not even my native language and I already speak 3 different languages. And let me tell you this, I did have my notebook and was taking notes. Also, "reading and writing" like you suggested is not the only way to learn a language. In fact, you'll start becoming fluent when you're surrounded by people only speaking that language.
There’s one peculiar thing about Swedish language: it sounds as if every syllable is stressed. I speak four languages and none of them has this thing :)
I know that a lot of asian languages have something similar. I think it's called a pitch accent? (The accent comes from pitch rather than stress) but I really don't know much about it haha. Swedish has such a pretty sound tho
Personally, I'm learning 2 languages, French for school and Swedish because who knows when I want to visit Sweden. Both languages take alot of practice but are both (once you learn enough) really fun to speak. In other words I think you should try both for a while and see which you feel more attraction to. You'll know after a while, it'll just be like "Yah, I like (language) better." OR you can do both like me but I don't recommend it

Every swede speaks English fluently, so it is completely stupid to learn Swedish in my opinion. French is more useful in that sense...
Depending on where you live, i would say French or Spanish, lots of Spanish Speakers all over the world, most people in Sweden speaks English, but if you wanna visit or move here, then definitely would be good idea to learn Swedish 😅 also if you learn Swedish you will also understand Danish and Norwegian pretty Good, so get a 3 for 1 Kinda
The pronunciation of "God morgon" (like at 5:54) in this video is strange, here the "g" is very hard, but in every other I have listened to, the "g" is very little pronounced, almost inaudible 🤔
@@Emma.Leclerc Well, doesn't it depend on where you are in Sweden? Gotland Swedish is much different from Northern Swedish (Västernorrland/Västerbotten) and Malmö Swedish sounds slightly more Danish, no? There's like 6 different dialects or something.
@@endoraroberts not many people use that pronunciation at all. Maybe on TV News channels, such as the Swedish versions of BBC (for example, the BBC, though this is a thing that was even more common in the past, use RP, which is a way of speaking that is only used by around 2% of the British population now), so such a way of speaking with such a pronunciation is dying out and is very uncommon. People who learn Swedish are generally taught a more general and widely used accent, often one that fits the Stockholm accent, like with any other language app of course that usually teaches the accent of the capital city. There are many dialects and accents, however that pronunciation of “god morgon” is not used for any of those, it’s only really used for that kind of presenter accent or those few who are possibly from the wealthiest groups in society.

18:55 Why are there "o"'s in the end, if you don't hear them while speaking? This confuses me!! xD
You can pronounce the numbers either way. Dropping the O when counting is common in daily speach.
It is because it is two words put together. For example, "fem" (5) and "tio" (10) makes "femtio" (50) which directly translates to five ten.
