This made all people set out to search and uncover the One Piece treasure, but no one ever found the location of Gol D. Roger's treasure, and the Grand Line was too dangerous a place to overcome. This flashback is why whenever I rewatch these episodes or watch reactions to these episodes, I always get chills when Enel asks a half-conscious, lightning-struck Wyper "Why do you still stand?" and Wyper answers "For my ancestors."
Skypiea is no longer considered the worst arc, just the arc that had the least relevance to the story and the one most people skip over. However, after 1050 chapters, it's now one of the most relevant. Even the anime has yet to learn just how relevant this storyline is.
Backstories will always make you cry in One Piece.
Oda loves history and oceanography. If he wasn't a mangaka, he would probably be a historian.
1 of the things I really like about how Oda told this is that he is not straightup saying advancement is the best thing and beliefs should go out the window. We get to see 2 different sides of the age long contention. First in Jaya we are shown the 'new world' pirates who claim only facts matter, then in Skypeia we see how facts and advancement can help people's lives. Maybe the real truth Oda is trying to share is that being exetreme one way or another is what hurts the most.
Man what a backstory, definitely one of the best in OP. The amount of lore dropped in this was insane, Oda is such an amazing writer. Also i like that ur dropping real world references here and there so keep doing it💯
Skypia is so underrated like everyone who calls it slow just blows my mind because the whole arc is just well made and done,also dapper idk how much traction one piece gives your channel but please don’t drop the show,much love to you man ❤❤
A lot of FORESHADOWING in these episodes ... Oda was cooking that you would understand this and that like in episodes 1000 and so ... I love SKYPIEA back then and I love SKYPIEA even more now 😊

i never understood why people call skypiea arc bad i always loved it in fact i would argue there are no bad one piece arcs.
but to each their own i guess.

Damn, it's crazy how both Wyper and Zoro were trying so hard and failing to even scratch the snake, and Norland was able to decapitate it with one swing. That man was crazy strong.

Skypiea getting a lot of hate honestly just proves that a lot of these "fans" are braindead and ADHD-ridden.
Even saying it has no or had no relevance to the story is an absolute 0head take.
It's a miracle those people made it to almost 200 episodes.
Skypia is not the worst ark It’s slow build, and a lot of people don’t really get what it does for the story because they have their own way of life, completely different from the people in the blue sea the worst dark is the foxy ark
This flashback is why I think it's blasphemy that there are people recommending to skip this arc. It's so good.
a very important detail is even though people call this the worse arc in one piece it by no means makes it a bad arc it simply states all the others are better... one piece is goated like that
(P.S in my opinion the worse arc actually is either east blue arc or punk hazard)
If you watch one piece don't skip the filler
