How u R the best of the best , when u say , if A NON ENGINEER CAN GET IT U CAN GET IT-------ITS A MOTIVATION THAT U CAN LEARN WITHOUT ANY REASON -------AWESOMM
Boys ...thank you very much for posting this. I've been out of the automotive trade for many years. Did apprenticeship in 81 on the Paystar5000 prime movers. Been in fixed plant and wishing to slowly return to mining equipment. Can you imagine what a mindf#co this was before I watched this? Thanks again. Cheers from Perth.
Hello, I think that the Ox 03FFFF0 mask is broken, for example if you have the id : 0x 01F802F0 you get the following PGN : 1F802. But it's impossible to have such a PGN ? And with your pgn conversion tool, I got F208 PGN so what's wrong ?
Hi. it was a nice video. But still i hv basic queries. 1. why only Big trucks use J1939 . y arent these automobiles not making same CAN id signal spec for same info (like engine rpm, accped pos , angle) ? am confused here. if all these automobiles also make same dbc file then it will b easier to decode the msgs instead using diff dbc for diff manufacturers.
Is there anywhere to download a free j1939 dbc file anywhere? Needing to work out the protocol for two vehicles i am planning to merge powertrain from one into another.
Hi Gary, we offer a J1939 DBC on our website for purchase. Use of the data underlying the J1939 DBC requires a legal license, which we provide in collaboration with SAE. As such, if an online version exists for free it would technically not be legal to use
Also not for somebody with experience! It's clear that the person that wrote the script also not really understood it. why people like this video is a mystery to me. It mystifies instead of demystifing the subject
There is a confusing slide at 11:25 where shows FF FF FF 68 13 FF FF * and says that 68 13 are bits 4 & 5. This is because the starting zoom in does not allow to see the very first FF.
Is this a computer voice? Why the hell does it say "in example" all the time? If they mean "i.e." then that stands for "id est" which means "that is" or "in essence". Not "in example". #facepalm
I think this is for more engineers, why we hate it. Lol but did you fix j1939 communication issue during this time? 6 months . Any recommendations for me?

It would have been wonderful if the video reflected the technical details covered through audio.
KNOWLEDGEABLE CSS ELECTRONICS

Thanks a lot for this outstanding work :)
Happy to help! :-)
You guys need to make a video on PiCAN, so that learning Engineers can do practical work on this.
Dear, appreciate your effort of putting this video!!!excellent!!!
Awesome, very helpful, thanks !!!
In Europe, we use ISO too, not most of vehicles use SAE
SAE J what? I didn't quite get it

up please im stuk
Very good!
Awesome information
All land vehicles should unified into a single protocol. Air vehicles another protocol, and Marine vehicles a kind of protocol.
perimeters vs. parameters and "an example" vs "for example"
Really helpful... thanks a lot for the work

Great video
awsome info .thanks
En donde va instalado el J1939 volvo
I think this video has an inconsistency starting at 8:23. Accoding to Wiki PGN is 16bit so we need to carve out 16 bit to get F004 not 18.
Yes, you are right!
thanks alot ,can you please explain how to car communicate with all these protocals internal operations .
That’s a very broad question, anything specific you want in particularly?
Awesome
Nice Video

Good info
Broad and abstract Not for the beginner.
Also not for somebody with experience!
It's clear that the person that wrote the script also not really understood it.

@@mumblic Yeah, litterary with this mystical music. It also put me off when he pronounced 0xFF as "zero X F F" instead of "hex-255".
where when i' m to download j1939 document
Why don't you google it before asking
look at this with a grain of salt.

Appreciate the feedback, thanks!
You mean "bytes 4 & 5", not "bits 4 & 5"
do you ship to the US?
Yes, we ship globally
Not a simple intro. Just keeps throwing numbers in your face. Not very intuitive.
Is this a computer voice? Why the hell does it say "in example" all the time? If they mean "i.e." then that stands for "id est" which means "that is" or "in essence". Not "in example". #facepalm
Thanks for the feedback - we've tried to incorporate this in v2.0 of the video :-)
try not
saying " an example" so much.
