Ive had a 08 Taurus x for 10 years now. Purchased used for 13k with 30k miles. Has 150+ on it now. Six comfy seats worked for me and my family. 260+ hp isn't too bad either. Insurance is as cheap as it can get too. Love this car.
@@dylanmark1357 that's why I have had the coolant replaced every 60k. So far so good. But with how dirty cheap these cars are you can just buy another if that happens.
Yeah, that was a swing and a miss by the TFL guys. Had an 08 TX and it was easily one of the best real-world cars I've ever owned. Judging handling in a parking lot? Ridiculous. The way it handled was exactly what separated it from a minivan! With the fantastic third row seats that fold 100% flat you get minivan levels of space, but it still handled significantly better than smaller wagons like the Outback. And somehow more comfortable, too! That wagon absolutely ate up road trips, swallowing 1000 mile days with no complaints from anyone inside. The only real knocks I could give it are on the appearance (NPC wagon is perfect) and the transmission, which was miles better than the old Freestyle CVT but still a Ford auto (technically a Ford/GM cooperative design, but Ford's fingerprints were all over the weird shiftpoints and dodgy tc).
Had 2007 Ford Freestyle. Car was created when Ford owned Volvo. The freestyle was basically a Volvo with Ford badge as the suspension and awd system was Volvo. I loved the car as it was great in the snow, super comfortable and a great ride using the Volvo suspension. ( friends of ours owned VOlvo wagon and they both drove almost identical) Biggest issue was the 200 HP engine Duratec engine. The engine was bullet proof but at 200 HP it was not powerful enough to lug the amount of weight it was hauling. We made many trips to Catskills in the car and finally sold it because it struggled getting up the mountain with my family of four. When the Taurus X replaced the Freestyle, Ford gave it a bigger engine and unfortunately dropped the Volvo suspension. I believe had Ford put a bigger engine in the Freestyle with a regular 6 speed transmission, the car would be have been a sleeper hit, especially with the Northeast car market( because of AWD and Volvo characteristics.)
@garretlewis4103 it's the kind of vehicle, you can get for $1200 because the last owner is clearly an idiot. You can then sell those rims to another idiot for $1800.
Freestyle/TaurusX was based in the same platform as Volvo XC90, even some rear suspension parts were compatible! I loved my 2005 Freestyle, Duratec 3.0 was bulet-proof, the only meh was CVT.

Bought my 2004 TJ in 2009 with 93k miles on her. She now has 235k miles on her. Only things that have gone wrong were I’ve had to replace the transmission once because I cracked the bell housing, then I had to replace the clutch one more time. Right now I need to replace the AC fan controller, and it could probably use some new brake pads. Oh and one soft top replacement. Wife threatens me that if I ever get rid of it, she’s leaving too. 😂 She’s a bit faded, and both front fenders need replacing from rust, but otherwise she starts up every time and gets me where I’m going. The new Juke is a massive upgrade from this one. It still has this akward design language, but it has been cleaned up a bit. Plus, you can option one as a hybrid, which means stellar fuel economy and none of those CVT issues. Sad that you can't get it in the US.
The Taurus X is pretty cool to me. They are pretty reliable, get great fuel economy, and have seating for 6 or 7. I had a Five Hundred for a while and loved it. The Taurus X is basically the wagon version.
I owned the Juke back in the day and it was very fun to drive with the torque vectoring rear differential. Got rid of it after a couple months though…wanted more power and hated the cvt.

I had a Freestyle a while back. It was a great family cruiser. Comfortable, got good fuel economy for a 7 seater, had a lot of nice features, etc.. But it eventually turned out to be a complete dud. Engine, Transmission, A/C, Cruise Control all quit working within the span of about two months. Before you think this is based just off of me, I have multiple friends of the same height and different weight. The difference? They sit higher or shorter and further back or forward due to their weight. Stop blaming the vehicles for your issues.
I used to see Jukes all the time. Now I haven't seen one in years.
Hey Tommy !!!! Missed ya. In Chicago we call the center armrest a “Lean “a” 😂 the bigger the leana the better 😂
I drove an 07 Freestyle in high school and college! So many great memories so that car will forever have a place in my heart. I do agree with your assessment that it is the master of none.
I’ve seen 2 Wranglers blow their engines in less than a year. Both on the highway, and both epic failures. I also saw one close up after a wreck when I worked on a body shop in the mid ‘90’s. You couldn’t pay me enough money to drive one of those death traps. As for the Nissan Joke, it’s pretty much that. A joke.
Don’t forget to mention that Nissan Jukes have terrrribbblllee safety ratings. It is a shame cuz you can pick one up for a good price and you get a cool, fast little crossover, but they just aren’t worth the headache
Im betting some folks watching are personally attacked by your TJ critique.
Came to the comments to see who's daring to try to defend those mods and the condition 😂
Yeah there's a reason why manufacturers discontinue vehicles. But they know when they make a sucky-lemon car.
