Hey Alphonso,
Just wanted to say you are an amazing artist, and incredible teacher. Thanks for all you have taught me and the rest of the internet, you truly deserve praise. Thanks for being such a nice individual and sharing helpful videos, answering questions and making strangers feel gratified and thankful. It is clear the effort and devotion you put into these videos and words cannot describe how much I appreciate them, (although I'm trying :D). Thanks man.
I hope you go far.
Gecko Specks Thanks so much, and thanks for taking the time to share that. I try to find the time to respond to as many comments as I can. Trust me, teaching HS Chemistry fulltime and teaching art parttime at a community college can get hectic, but It really means alot considering no one had to take the time to respond or post anything, but you all do. So thanks :-)
I always screwed up when only using pencils to shade, and seeing u do this so well makes me satisfied
love it again. You're the best teacher I could find
Alphonso Dunn! You have a face! And a lovely face it is. May we see you (more than just your hands that is) in future videos? As always, fascinating and inspiring.
@@alphonsodunn Thank you for the video, it's helpful. I'm just starting with Sakura pens and i love them. I need to experiment with different styles, so this helps. The eraser i never knew of!
I have been doing sugar skull drawings, I know a bit different but helps me to get shapes down. I think it is great to see your face know who is talking and teaching. You have so much info and talent and am so happy I found you. Thank you my friend for the lessons.
effie924 Thanks so much...and I'm glad to have found this outlet as well :-)
LOVE your work, your calming voice and the reassuring notes and tips!!
Wow, just drew the skull and I have never been so proud of something that involves drawing ;). Thanks a lot for this video and keep up the good work! :D
I don't think I've come across anyone who can draw as good as you. And your pen and ink work is amazing. Just got your book btw. Thank you for all you teach.
Love all your drawing demos and tutorials! Thanks so much for sharing them!!

@ Daniel Namu-Fetha nope, not all...i think psychologically I accept the "noise" as an inevitable part of the process...plus, I dont use it that much
Wow, it's so great. Dude you showed me how I can improve my drawings :D. SUBSCRIBE!!!! :P
+ALPHONSO DUNN How much do these pens run for? Also, where can I cop them?
Brilliant artwork and your choice of music had me watching from behind the chair! Seriously, that 10 minutes of my life has flown past, I was transfixed. Well done Alphonso.
absolutely beautiful. i was in Awww through the whole sketch and detailing. just wow.
Oh wow! First time seeing your face! We love you, Alphonso!
What a lazy way of erasing.... I WANT ONE!! ...LOL!!
Alphonso Dunn, that's a badass looking skull I was wondering if you can send me a pic of it, it would make an awesome tattoo
I love your tutorials and will use them in my classroom. I teach Graphic Arts and it is always great to find talented artist to help my artistic students with composition, value and shading in their illustrations. Great job on all your videos.
Thank you so much for this video! I have a pack of pens and a few graphite sketches ready to be inked, but I haven’t been ready to take the plunge. Now that I’ve seen this and have a better understanding of which pen to use for what, I can’t wait to start inking! Seriously great video ❤️
This video helped so much and the art work was incredible! I love your videos and your work! Define fly subscribing :D
Great!Love your drawing style and teaching style.
of course it varies from drawing to drawing..It can range from 20 mins to an hour and a half roughly
Thank you so much for boosting my confidence in drawing. Really motivated me to continue practicing when I was ready to give up.
Today I just received my Pigma Drawing Pens. Excited to use them and watching your tutorial was amazing. looking forward to seeing your other tutorials. thank you for creating this video for newbees lol
You have a really kind face :) Also your drawing is amazing! It looks like and illustration from an ancient book you would find in a wizard's library or something :P
wow this is amazing! I never thought that just a few lines could make so much of an image just amazing!
I use the brush one almost exclusively, for inking comic book-esque scetches and panels.Tbh, i am the type of person that likes the "all in one" solutions, i hate juggling between tons of different tools to get the job done. And brush one is the most versatile one (i used just a regular brush and a bottle of ink, but i switched to Sakura brush pens because it's less upkeep, and instead of replacing ink and brushes when needed separately i can just get 1 item that covers for both, plus ink is really high quallity in these).
THIS IS UNBELIEVABLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WOW! That's all I can say. Wow.
A question: How much did you use the 3D skull as a reference? Did you draw what you saw, did you use your imagination, or a combination of both? Thanks for doing these videos. They're absolutely priceless; the very best out there.
Welp, I had zero idea most of this was possible, because I am timid of all but graphite. This makes me glad I watched this before my next trip to the art store.
I have subscribed because this one video has been so massively helpful, I must go see what else is on the channel. Thank you for such a great demo! I suddenly get why I need an electric eraser.
Your tutos are getting better and better! Tahnks for sharing and kudos for the work!
You're good, btw
SO helpful thank you! Normally use colored pencil or pencil. Trying pen/ink out again was struggling with shading. Gorgeous drawing ✍🏼 btw!!!
killer work! your style is visceral and gives an element of life while not intending to be realist. Dig !
BtB who the heck give thumbs down on art?? really ya got a problem just say it !
I believe that everyone can draw and everybody can make art even a little kid scribbling on paper is art
It's not a mistake✨ITS A MASTERPIECE✨
I had to draw a realistic skill drawing for my art class in high school, it took a while, but it was fun, but we only used graphite no ink. We did do a realistic pen drawing of animals though, that took so much time and work. Your skull drawing came out very nice, good job, you also have a vey nice voice, it’s very calming.
Inspiring and aspiring, Al. Thks for your thorough patient explanation(s). Much appreciated.
You're truly an inspiration my man! I've been drawing all my life and it wasn't until a year ago I discovered I loved drawing with pen, I'm 18 now and hope to one day be as good as you! you're just so great! thank you for making these truly inspiring videos, me and everyone else really appreciate them. thank you for this tutorial, I'm gonna be entering a competition called vase in a couple months and these are really helping! again thank you for everything you do!
Thank you Alphonso! Fantastic Demo! Just bought the pack and learned how to use them today!!!
Thank you SO much for sharing your knowledge and talents!!! I find so many artists are very secretive and too competitive and never like to help or answer basic questions, so I really appreciate you taking time to do these tutorials for those looking to begin or hone their already existing skills. :)
foeofmediocrity thanks much. I had to go through that alot, so now I know, its fun to share :-)
I really was about to say that I definitely hate it when u go on UA-cam to find answers and they say nothing they just draw
so enjoyable therapeutic and relaxing to watch how the drawing builds up. uh! thanks man! tomorrow i go by myself some quality ink pens. this is a beginning of a new era :D
This skull is amazing! ! ! And if I can say it myself I am a pretty good artist but I just LOVE the form and shape u made on this skull ! Great work
Wow... it's clear to me that some people just have an amazing natural talent - not that they didn't work at it, but it is just inside some people. Alphonso is one of those people. Nice, awesome work!
I have an electric eraser hanging off my drafting table along with four different kinds of erasers, including one for vellum. Then someone changes their mind and you have to scrape it off the back and redraw it on the front. You do great work. Thanks for allowing us to watch and join!!!!!
You're like the Bob Ross of pen and ink! So relaxing and talented. Nice work!
Bruh, the texture is godlike!
Great video and drawing! I love these pens.
Hi Alphonso, i really like how you make textures. This one looks exactly like bone. Thank you for your videos!
Great work ! I think it'd be interesting to see the large version of the drawing without speed effect for better understanding each step
It’s SO nice to you in this video Alphonso. I video your videos
I'm definitely getting these micron pigmy pens they look do good!
Another legendary video!!
I really love watching ur pen drawings I've gotten to the point where I love drawing in pens but I usually use bic
How can someone be so perfect!!!! Now I'm jealous 🙄🙄i just admire ur art ❤️❤️
Great tutorial! I'm still figuring out the best way to use the brush pen
This...is amazing hahah I just recently started to enjoy using micron pens and to find such and instructive video using them has really just made my day ^_^
Wicked man! Can't wait for your book!
You have done it again! Great instructional video. I think you are getting progressively more awesome. :D
I agree with everyone
Your a Great teacher
And an even Greater Artist
I loved this video
hi Alphonso! it's nice to see you, not just the drawing tools only!
Leon Berg Perhaps I'll do it more often, but I like going straight to business. Then again, may I'm just camera shy lol
hey man thanks for the tutorial its hard to find a real artist on youtube i put in fineliner tips and i get all these digital artists types im sure that has its place but not for a man trying to learn an honest skill with his hand so thanks for doing what you do
Man, you're really good! Especially with this arsenal at hand, everything seems to be very easy!
***** Surely it is not Alphonso! I expressed that way, simply because they liked much of this stuff!
aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa! what an awesome drawing!! so much detail and depth, amazing! thank you very much and cheers from Russia!
Greats from slovakia, i really enjoy your drawing and videos, great job alphonso
Fantastic drawing. Never knew there was such a thing as an electric eraser. I got to get one. And a brush pen.
Thanks a lot for the detailed information regarding the pens. Much appreciate it. :)
buen trabajo de luz y sombra, lo del borrador eléctrico desconocía, pero es para ahorrar tiempo....
Incredible! You sir are an amazing artist.
I may have to try out an electric eraser. I see how it could be handy.
One thing I have started to do is use a one inch paintbrush for brushing away my eraser scraps. I find that it keeps me from smudging anything with my hands.
That's really a helpful, inspirational and awesome video sir :) Thanks a lot !!
Fantastic artwork, i love the eraser:)
now i can't live without one of those electric erasers!!! thanks!!
Very nice work Mr. Dunn. I envy your steady hand. I can't shade like that anymore my hands shake far too much these days.
Really nice man. That would make a cool tattoo.
Hey Alphonso thank you so much for this video! I’ll have to represent a one eyed god and now I can guess how I will represent the depth of his lost eye ... you’re great!
Masterpiece with the pen
Thank you very much for explaining how to shade with ink pens properly. I also must admit, it's the first time I saw an electric eraser. ;) Besides, I really, really like this drawing!
You just discovered me the existence of the electric eraser, and for that, I sub to thee!
Canalus haha gratitude gratitude
***** Yes, I had never heard of such a device either!
Amazing work!
Alphonso Dunn what is this magic you have shown us?
thou speak truth
