I'm an experienced player, but I like to review the basics sometimes and a couple of points in your video turned out to be useful for me. You're going to mostly help newer players, but you've already helped at least one fanatic who has many years and countless games under his belt. A minor correction on terminology, in case you haven't heard it yet. A hanging piece is one that's both loose and attacked, so that in your puzzle at 6:10 the bishop wasn't hanging until the queen moved to b2. There's a glossary of chess terms on Wikipedia if you're interested.
Very nice approach to tactics. I like the way you have an orderly approach to this rather than just spotting patterns from doing many puzzles. I think this video has helped me as much or maybe more than a highly rated tactics course that I completed. Great work!
Nice Content Emily. You have a good way of presenting chess To new players. I hope you keep it up. As for problem number one, there is a saying LPDO, Meaning, loose pieces drop off. So Qa4 Becomes obvious when you remember those mnemonics. Keep up the good work!
In the faster time controls simple tactics are often missed by the average player. A systematic approach help make these type of opportunities more automatic. Well worth the watch . Especially for inexperienced players.
Below 1200 don't even worry about tactics. Just focus on placing your pieces on active squares and don't blunder them. Then wait for your opponent to crumble. This is how you will win games at that level, not by finding tactics. In the 1200-1500 level you can start to look for tactics, but playing strong positional chess is FAR more beneficial IMO. Tactics flow from good positional chess where all your pieces are pressuring your opponent.
I'm studying the Steps Method to. Can you tell me exactly where this concept is in the books? About the 3 targets (weak king, undefended pieces and mating square)?
It's these little things she misses that gives away her 800 elo rating. She should not be doing teaching videos on tactics or much of anything IMO. Just play chess and focus on improving. 800s are still eating the pieces.
I like it, well explained, but back to the first example: What about 1.Qa4 Rxe4 2.Qxa3 Re1+ ....? Our white king is much more vurnerable as his black buddy and there are also mating squares for Black to finish off our white king, no?
One of the most common ways new players blunder is not paying attention to pieces attacking a square from across the board. You think you’ve got yourself a win, and that sneaky bishop on C2 ruins your day pretty quick. Always scan the entire board and see if any of your opponents pieces are attacking your intended square before making your move.
spoiler alert 4:30 there is just 3 pieces without defender... pawn on a file is defended by queen. fork rook and bishop is good way, but there is another. Can you spot it?
The idea of the puzzle is to win a piece, not checkmate. Black’s bishop has two attackers and only 1 defender. Kxg7 avoids mate but then white can force a trade of the queens with Qxg4 and enter the end game up a bishop.
Contrived puzzles the host doesn't even fully understand. "Pretty privilege" at its finest. You don't even need good content, just be pretty and smile a lot and you'll do well lol.
"You're probably thinking: Emily why would I follow you when you are new to chess?" Well, you know that the real answer for that, is because you are a gorgeous blond with blue eyes, and not because of your chess.. Seems like the sponsoring website, are trying to increase the number of chess fans using beautiful women, which isn't necessarily a bad thing.

Thanks!!! Your strategy works well. I'll look to use it on my next game.
Very helpful. Thank you Emily!

Great video thanks! I’m definitely going to use this in my games.
this approach is going to help players from beginner to say 1400, who can also use help in focus. Nice concept.
Thank you Emily awesome video lesson!
So nice❤

Great video. I am about a 1500 - 1600 elo, but you are fun to watch. Good job.
Excellent job!
Pretty damn good video.
very intresting! thank you!
Good lesson. Thank you

Gostei bastante, são ótimos exemplos. Muito boas jogadas.
Hey Emily!!

Combining my 2 favorite pass times
Attractive women and chess :)
Like your two movees in a row and working backwards ideas! P.S. did you intend around 10:30 to have 3 black rooks on the board!?
Around 14:40 no if you go Qc8+ black will capture your queen, the bishop is guarding it

After Rxe4 Qxe4. Even better for white
@@ThereIsProbablyNoGodAh yes, of course, thank you - had a blind spot there.
well you have my attention so let's start
At 17:05, why not Qg6#? g6 is protected by the knight on e5. I'm new to chess (just started learning 11/28/24).

@@Brettski12 Ah! Good catch. I fall for these types of things far too often and totally would have blundered here!

😉👍❤️
After the tactic on the forth position, white still is not actually winning. Can anyone see why?
This lady has a seriously cute personality!
Unsure; @15:31 Q-b4. Ok, Can Kxg7?

I guess everyone is pleasantly distracted. The position at 9.00 mins, black has three rooks. Our host may have noticed, and just decided to carry on.

nice concept, but if I may suggest, a little less talking and faster to the point would be better IMHO

I need sunglasses to watch Her teeth. Jus' teasing of course
I wonder if that is an AI generated women replacing a real chess player who does the explanations
