    I just bought this laptop and will receive it Monday.
    Your video makes me feel a lot more comfortable, as I bought this with a Best Buy guy on the phone, not in a store. It’s the first time I ever made this type of purchase, unseen.
    After looking on UA-cam I thought I made a huge mistake with purchasing the pen on a whim...
    Now I’m very thankful!
    Great video, great presentation, and thank you for having many different apps to show its plus and minuses!

      Hey, what are your thoughts on it after the 2 months? Also, have you tried any of the other computers' pen experiences?
      From my experience with a Surface Pro 4, if I ever want to draw, I make sure to flatten it so I can write on it like a notebook. It feels ridiculously uncomfortable to write on it in laptop mode, and I prefer to have the SP4 in portrait orientation for writing.

    Finally a review that mentioned that the screen wobbles. I was using Surface Pro 4 for many years and I use pen instead of a mouse to do design work in Adobe XD because I often design on the go and there is no place for a mouse. I have to rest my arm on the screen and Surface pro is perfect for that with its extra stability thanks to the support at the back. I was considering to go for a big stronger Surface Laptop, but now I see it just won't work for me. Going for Surface Pro 7. Thanks a lot!!

      Alternatively you can get a surface book , cause you can use that in studio mode (i.e flip the screen around on the keyboard) so its essentially a more powerful surface pro. I have the SB1 and been using it for photo retouching with the pen for the last 3 years. Upgrading to the SB3 next month which also allows me some gaming :)

      Hey. Did you ever end up getting the Surface Book 2? What do you think about the stylus experience on it, and was it worth? I'd like to hear your thoughts on the device! - Thanks!
      Also, have you tried the Samsung Notebook 9 Pen. I've used a SP4 for 3 years now and I got fed up with bow crappy the stylus was (pen has low polling rate and high latency. I didn't know if there was anything better out there, but I felt that pen and paper was better than that tortured note taking experience. I like writing small and neat, but it's virtually impossible. You have to write slow and large if you want any hope of the pen keeping up.
      Later, I went to Best Buy and spent hours trying different stylus laptops. I think Samsung Notebook 9 pen from 2018 was #1 writing/drawing experience followed by Apple Ipad Pro 2018 (120 hz refresh and crazy accurate pen was really really good), followed by Surface pro 6 as a distant 3rd.
      Btw, if you haven't bought the Surface Book yet, I would highly recommend looking at the 9 Pen.

      @@21area21 nice recommendation. I have a Surface book 1. its pretty good, got it as soon as it was released. I also have a surface go. I wish it had an i5. but i knew what i was getting into. at the moment, i'm considering waiting for a surface pro 7 (come on thuderbolt 3). I do like the tablet form factor 40% of the time. But... i really use all of these devices as laptops 60% of the time. The Surface Book is really good, i want something even smaller to fit in a sling bag. The Notebook 9 looks worth checking out

    • @21area21
      @21area21 5 років тому +1

      @@aibarra11 Thanks for the update. Had my Samsung for about a month. The stylus experience is indeed glorious, but I really truly miss the form factor of the Surface line. In tablet mode, keys are exposed which is terribly annoying, and when you lay it down, any grains of sand of particles that get on the keyboard will get sandwiched by the screen when you close it.
      Also, the touch experience is quite finicky. My shirt registers as a touch all the time, and the edges of the screen pick up accidental touches from me holding the display. Combined with the shirt touches, things get launched from the bottom of the screen or closed randomly.
      I think with Ntrig getting better and better, the Newer surfaces will definitely be amazing devices with no compromises.

    Damn, got this for Christmas and I noticed that my pen strokes skip, I disabled touch when pen is being used but that didn't really help, I guess the wobble makes a big difference, oh and also I need new pen nubs. Used to have a surface pro 4, it's on its last legs, and that was the replacement! Surface pro 4 was notorious for the screen jitterbug because the heat sink goes all the way across the display, would become hot pretty fast.

      Lay laptop scrn on table, keybd perpendicular to scrn (in the air), so keybd is facing the person drawing. Rotate the document 80 degrees. Enlarge it so you can write normal sized but when doc is put back to 100% zoom your writing is nice and small, the size it would have been if you typed it.

    Teoh....what happens if you touch the screen with your hand while you're drawing?
    It seems it's not as with paper...

    • @teohyc
      @teohyc  6 років тому +1

      It has palm rejection when the cursor appears. So when the cursor appears when the pen is near, other parts of the hand will not be able to create stray strokes.

    • @teohyc
      @teohyc  6 років тому +2

      In short, you can rest your hand on the screen while drawing.

    Hello! I've recently gotten a surface laptop 3 and bought the Microsoft pen as well. However, when I tried using it on a drawing application named Paint Tool Sai(V2 64bit), the pen pressure sensitivity didn't work.
    Any help or tips to get it working would be great :)

    • @teohyc
      @teohyc  4 роки тому +1

      If pen pressure works with other apps, it means there's some settings you have to change within Paint Tool Sai. Look for Windows Ink settings either in Windows control panel, or within Paint Tool Sai.
