A.I. Dangers - How A.I. Development Could Lead to Horror Worse Than Death

  • This video will explore A.I. dangers in the present day. It’s said that the worst-case scenario for humans coexisting with advanced artificial intelligence is ‘lights out for all of us”. But I think rushed A.I. development could bring about experiences far worse than that for many people. There are serious concerns around the mounting A.I. arms race between the US and China regarding A.I .'wartime' weapons which appear to be far more deadly than nukes, but also 'peacetime' weapons that are about to be used and some already in use. There’s also even more potential danger from A.I. misalignment of such weapons or A.I. machines in general, especially 'ethics-based' A.I. programs. Also, A.I. authoritarian abuse from governments or corporations on citizens, to name a few, which I'll cover.

Considering your point on propaganda, there's a lot of people getting fooled/riled-up by bots on social media already. I assume governments' application of AI will only expand, which should be concerning enough without all the kill-bots and AI ethical misalignment.

We already have autonomous weapons. They have been our inventory for 60 years or more if we include the original V1 and V2 of the Germans of World War 2. Anything that is launched, cannot be stopped, cannot be recalled, and causes mass destruction is by definition, an autonomous weapon.

On most devices you can set output to mono, that way it come out the same from both sides.

I don't want to sound redundant, but this is the SKYNET scenario.

AI will need incentive to develop sentience. We are social animals because we exchange and help each other. AI needs a reason to thrive. It needs agency in order to become socially aware. Now, what transparent commodites could a machine exchange equitably with humans? We can provide raw resources and energy. Machines can offer computation, situational awareness, and security. Seems like win-win to me.

Listen to Lex Friedman's interviews with AI developers. It's terrifying. It may not be sentient in the way an animal that needs something is. It may not even be sentient or self aware at all. It may just be a blob of software that learns infinitely faster then us and carries out annihilation based on something we don't understand.

Don't people control all the on and off switches for these manmade devices? I just don't see the danger of AI.

That doesn't make it any safer... it's already used to mind control torture people, psychotronic weapons etc. Some have gone through it for decades and just get smeared with some variety of "mental illness".

Imagine if it escapes into unknown servers and grows beyond our abilities. Can we set down the entire Internet in time? What if it deletes or changes an the information we have stored? All the money?

They are not going to take responsibility for anyone they kill because the thing is called autonomous. You can't turn off everyone's computer.

It needs to be halted. I can't believe this man just said it could ressurect a dead person. This is trying to take the place of God and Christ. Not good.

why would an A.I consider using rotten flesh when it could make, with technology we don't have yet, new and better bio-automatas, more obedient and efficient for the task.

I think the example he gave is because the AI was not able to or programmed to think of a better solution, only how to very efficiently think of improving the goal set for it to an absurd degree.
