He certainly has a great voice, but if he wants to sing opera he should study the style(s)- he has great facility with the notes, but this is not enough. His vibrato sounds forced...doesn’t feel like it’s naturally coming out. His elocution/pronunciation is poor and he therefore doesn’t understand the language. He rushes through words he should linger on and draws out others he shouldn’t. He clearly doesn’t understand the opera of Tosca itself. Thank you Michael for this recording - there are many things I would like to type in reply to comments on my brother's vocal ability but those of us that experience it first hand know how Jonathan sounds with and without a microphone - his recent performances (in December) of this aria without mic are proof of his ability but I wish people would remember that this event recorded here is outside too. That said - we all know Jonathan's training continues and will continue throughout his singing career. A singer is always learning but his voice is beautiful now and was from age 14 - and of course younger before his voice broke. He refused to use a microphone until he had to when on tv as he prefers the natural sound but in the commercial world there is little option in many concerts. Please enjoy him for who and what he is and hope and pray that he stays singing for us all to enjoy as he matures.

Charlotte Antoine I stumbled across Jonathan and Charlottes BGT audition just a few months ago and have watched all of the UA-cam videos I could find after that. I know nothing about opera, Pavoratti or anyone else in that world. All I know is when Jonathan opens his mouth and sings I get chills. One day I UA-camd Pavoratti and listened to several of the videos. Not one single goose bump. I then listened to Jonathan again and was covered! I really can't say I'm an opera fan but I assure you I'm a Jonathan Antoine fan!!! I've never heard a more powerful and captivating voice!!!! EVER! I'm ordering both of his CD's. Tell him he has more fans than he is aware of and to keep doing what he's doing!!! I wish him all the best! One day if I'm lucky enough he'll perform in the USA somewhere close to New Orleans Louisiana and I'll be in the front row cheering!!!! Wendy A Fantoine for life!
It was an absolute pleasure to be able to record Jonathan at the Bolton Abbey outdoor concert Charlotte. I was way back but thankfully, had brought a tripod and telephoto lens and was able to capture all of Jonathan's performance. As soon as he started to sing, it was obvious to me, we were witnessing the emergence of an amazing talent. I'm afraid there will always be negative comments about even the best singers, but hearing Jonathan live is enough to convince even the most cynical of critics of this young man's talent.
"A moving rendition" as it says in the description is almost an understatement. This kid has GOT IT. It's so much more than being able to sing on pitch. He got under my skin, and not just anybody can do that. He's a treasure, and I look forward eagerly to more from him.
Wow! What a voice, I'm in love with his singing. I'm so glad he was given the chance to show his amazing talent, I wish him the very best in life. I'd love, really love to hear him sing Nessun Dorma, please!
He has one of the most beautiful and easy to listen to voices I have ever heard . The sky is the limit as long as he keeps his feet on the ground .I have listened to opera all my life and pray that Jonathan continues in that field .He will make so many people happy and must not worry about the odd critic -with the word ODD being the operative word
His Che gelida manina for me is the best version out there! an aria for a young tenor and he delivers it with such romance pathos passion and tenderness and an astonishing golden high 'C'
Jonathan reaches those high notes so effortlessly, his voice is the best there is and he is such a natural on that stage, I am so fortunate to count myself among the Fantoines (Jonathan Antoine Admiration Society)...
A lot of people hate on being a reality TV star, but this kid is a prodigy. This is the kind of voice that comes along once in a century. I love it already, but I look forward to him becoming the next Pavarotti in fame as his voice matures.
@@janicenicholls5924 It's a known fact that singing voices get better with age and maturity. Also obviously experience and life experience give the performer more nuance to draw from.
Dare I say it. I really, REALLY want to hear him sing Nessun Dorma. Gasp! I think it would be amazing. I could listen to this young man sing all day long.

I want so badly to see Jonathon in California; but, to my dismay, finances will not allow it. I think he is so amazing and I listen to him daily. What a wonderful young man-he is so smart, personable, great with people and so talented. I just love you, Jonathon!!
This LIVE rendition of the well known Puccini aria by this glorious golden voiced Oh sooo young tenor is absolutely STUNNING!- surely going to be tenor of the 21st Century!
Puccini and Pavarotti gazed down from the realms of glory, amazed at this wonderful sound, and God said "Fear not, for the art of opera is sure, and safe. I have sent my servant Jonathan."
He is doing very well at just 21 years old in this video. No doubt he is listening to all the greats...Caruso, Gigli, Bjorling, Corelli, di Stefano, Pavarotti, Domingo, Fritz Wunderlich, Nicolai Gedda etc. There must be so much to learn in order to become an opera singer. I wish him all the best as he builds his career.
It brings such joy to my heart to hear this young man sing with absolute MASTERY, enriching the world with the quality of his voice and lyric interpretation - especially, when one considers how pathologically shy and reserved he was just a few years ago. God bless Jonathan Antoine. May he enjoy longevity and legendary status among the brightest stars of opera and all other forms of music he elects to sing.
I have never heard anything so beautiful as this, the young man was so much talent. What a voice, microphone or not. I've just watched another video on here with no microphone, and no difference. The best tenor on this planet past and present.....

I actually prefer Antoine's tone to Lanza's. Granted, we are held to the recordings of the time period in which they were made. Wouldn't it be amazing if we could hear him again in person? Until then, I am sure loving this boy.
Love hearing Jonathan sing Puccini! His voice just doesn't stop!! I "Believe" he has depths of talent that have yet to be tapped!! He is simply amazing!
A fine performance of a difficult aria. His voice has such marvelous placement and evenness. He could have a great career in opera if he chooses that path.
@@billybaldwin8918 , this was a Proms concert at a large outdoor venue so obviously a microphone would still be required for even the most powerful of opera voices whereas in opera houses themselves the buildings are designed in a specific way to favour natural unamplified human voice acoustics.
@@adamknight7041 But he is singing to the microphone not the audience. If he was unamplified even in the smallest opera house, he would not be heard. If he had good opera technique, he would have a bigger voice.

What a beautiful voice Jonathan has. I too remember him on BGT and was just wondering the other day how he was getting on, well now I know. The feeling he puts into this Aria is pure emotion and the richness of his voice is simply wonderful. Jonathan has been blessed with a true gift.
Amazing! His voice has become purer, more focused and simply beautiful. He is just 21 now. If his voice develops any further, he will clearly be able to become one of the top dramatic tenors of our time.

Much Love to Jonathan he is really awesome has a very nice character as it seems and i hope he does very well in his life and continues to get even better
This video shows a more accomplished vocal and musical performance. Compared to two other videos I've watched, his line is better and it really shows the quality of his voice which I think is beautiful. There is only one obvious flaw in this performance which is when he takes a breath in the middle of the phrase. Enjoyed it so much!
Corelli has nothing on this kid.. The timing, the delivery, the free flowing legato. Corelli always sounded like just a crooner with bad timing and bad legato to me, not a real opera singer like this guy.
Srinath KC there are hundreds of professional opera singers from the UK alone that I'm familiar with and none of them can create the magic that Jonathan does with his emotive expression, far too many overly institutionalised Tenors go too shouty and wouldn't know what subtlety or refinement in singer was if it bite them on the arse, this is where Jonathan already excels.
Craig Matthews ....if he wasn't spectacular.... There wouldn't have so many negative comments.... It is like to expect that a 2 year old boy speaks a grammatically correct English....
I have been a Pavarotti fan since the first time I ever heard him eons ago. The first time I heard Jonathan Antoine sing he was only 17, and felt then that he rivaled my favorite tenor. Now he has surpassed him. Amazing voice.
I'll have to wait to hear his Nessun Dorma before sharing your sentiments entirely, I think surpassing Pavarotti is near on impossible but Jonathan is certainly well on his way to creating a similar legacy and in many ways his career is still only in its infancy, imagine how amazing he'll be in 10-20 years time.
@@adamknight7041 Why Nessun Dorma? Its a great aria, but I wouldn't wait for that. I think, people have to remember that a lot of what is attractive to people today, are singers who utilize the microphone and its settings. Intimate settings, where you can hear the mouth of the singer and its every nuance. Listen to the singer Dimash for example ua-cam.com/video/W29zEuZVaxs/v-deo.html Jonathan Antoine, also on many of his recordings, will utilize this for great effect. Pavarotti, rarely ever recorded like that. There were a few pop type of albums that Pavarotti did, where his voice was recorded somewhat like that. Singing the song Caruso for example (Studio Version). In the live version in Paris, Pavarotti didn't go with that setting as it qives an artifical representation of the voice. Comparing Opera and Popular singing is like apples and oranges. They are very different things.
Ruth, I don't know. I have heard Jonathan Anotine sing a number of arias, and truthfully I would only put it at ok. This particular aria he sings better and I like it more. You have to understand, that most of what I am hearing is the use of mezza voce, or half voice used to great effect on a microphone. Pavarotti, had a beautiful, much clearer mezza voce, but he didnd't use it as often . His transition in that voice to fullness and steel is flawless. Here is a short example ua-cam.com/video/eZ0Nah-D7dY/v-deo.html But what you don't see is a Opera singer capitilizing on that and using a microphone with intimate settings to further enhance the tone. With Opera singers, they try and keep the sound closer to what it would be if you saw them live, or at least somewhat along those lines.
@@nthdegree1269 Dimash is a K-pop singer. Now began to lip sync the same way Vitas did. You can't find one video where he gives a concert without amplification. With Jonathan you can find several videos.

Those who know Jonathan & his wonderful music do not rate these 'opinions'; they are of no significance! Jonathan requires no endorsement or guidance from those who post their negativity! Thousands enjoy listening to your wonderful brother & his amazing voice; I cannot wait to hear him again in concert!

A Fantoine for life!
Michael Ross Lucky you! ☺
"A moving rendition" as it says in the description is almost an understatement. This kid has GOT IT. It's so much more than being able to sing on pitch. He got under my skin, and not just anybody can do that. He's a treasure, and I look forward eagerly to more from him.
Quelle MAGNIFIQUE voix .... chair de poule assurée, merci merci merci ...
Wow! What a voice, I'm in love with his singing. I'm so glad he was given the chance to show his amazing talent, I wish him the very best in life. I'd love, really love to hear him sing Nessun Dorma, please!
Jonathans new album "Going the Distance" comes out on April 3, 2020 & included Nessun Dorma!!!
What an incredible, passionate performance! His "Che gelida manina" is also magnificent! It can be found on his 2016 album, "Believe."
Sharon Grismer - me too!
I am, from this day forward, a charter member! 🙌🙌
It is part of his skill that he appears to reach high notes effortlessly, they take great technique, practice, breath work, muscle work.
A lot of people hate on being a reality TV star, but this kid is a prodigy. This is the kind of voice that comes along once in a century. I love it already, but I look forward to him becoming the next Pavarotti in fame as his voice matures.
How can he improve?!
He is living what he was intended to be, doesn`t get better than that. he has many thanks to give to his friend Charlotte and to Britons got talent
@@janicenicholls5924 It's a known fact that singing voices get better with age and maturity. Also obviously experience and life experience give the performer more nuance to draw from.
This young man tops all TENORS , taking nothing from the others , But Jonathan Antoine s voice is really most exceptional !!!
What about this tenor: ua-cam.com/video/vw6L0jFseUI/v-deo.html
Dare I say it. I really, REALLY want to hear him sing Nessun Dorma. Gasp! I think it would be amazing. I could listen to this young man sing all day long.
Agree! I could listen to him all day too. He's spoiled me...I don't want to hear anyone else now. LOL.
He just posted singing Nessun Dorma on his IG :)
Richard, Jonathon could sing "Happy Birthday" and I would revel in the excitement of his voice. He comes this way but once.
Me too

Te amo Jonathan. Eres increíble. Lo más sublime en voz. Gracias.
Jonathan is a true blessing to the musical world.
Jonathan, you are amazing and such a gift for the world now.
je l'ai découvert par hasard et je suis devenue une fan absolue .il sait tout chanter, c'est un très très grand, merci, merci !
I want so badly to see Jonathon in California; but, to my dismay, finances will not allow it. I think he is so amazing and I listen to him daily. What a wonderful young man-he is so smart, personable, great with people and so talented. I just love you, Jonathon!!
Jonathan has a wonderful maturity in his expressive voice. Just the right balance of dark and light! Love to listen to him!
This LIVE rendition of the well known Puccini aria by this glorious golden voiced Oh sooo young tenor is absolutely STUNNING!- surely going to be tenor of the 21st Century!
he's so young and he understands deeply music
Puccini and Pavarotti gazed down from the realms of glory, amazed at this wonderful sound, and God said "Fear not, for the art of opera is sure, and safe. I have sent my servant Jonathan."
Amazing. A new star of the lyric art is born. Long life of success Jonathan
Dear god...again...as always...speechless.
He just blows you away doesn't he. He will go down in history as one of the best male singers ever.
i hope so he deserve it so much he is amaizing
such a marvellous voice.....captivating every cell in my body...
How can so young a lad put so much feeling into this?
I know! We are blessed to have this young man with a voice to move our very souls and hearts.
Because he was bullied in school and knows that deep pain 😔
A weekly Come back to this performance ..... I need to to hear it over and over again.
Jonathan is Gods gift to
Us his heart is even bigger than his beautiful voice from God ❤
As an Italian I'm really impressed, such a great pronunciation..well done!
And a magnificient voice....bravo!
Jonathan,che meraviglia.....La tua voce,la tua storia scuote l' anima.
Abbiamo bisogno di vibrazioni,di brividi,di dolcezza e storie positive.Dio ti Benedica,Jonathan,ti accompagni con la fortuna.
Tuo zio(virtuale)Italiano.
Roberto.
My god this is incredible. I just hope he understands the words and what they mean. The best voice since Lanza.
I actually prefer Antoine's tone to Lanza's. Granted, we are held to the recordings of the time period in which they were made. Wouldn't it be amazing if we could hear him again in person? Until then, I am sure loving this boy.
He does, his family heritage is Italian.
I don't think it's possible to sing like that and not know what you're singing.
@@christinelintondoyle7400 There is no Italian in Jonathan's heritage-he has a talent for languages as well as singing.
Wow, just wow, he's spectacular.
How magnificent does he sound? The passion, the purity, the unbelievable personality. Love him to pieces ❤️❤️❤️😘
I think this is one of his best WOW . WONDERFUL. YOUR VOICE IS JUST WONDERFUL
I could listen to you endlessly. You're extraordinary.
Every time I hear his voice I even get chills of his beautiful blessed voice ✨🌻
Best tenor I've ever heard because he puts such heart into his songs. His tone is smooth, never raspy.
Agree. So young too. Anticipating a long successful career .
If all operas used microphones, maybe....
I would love to see him in opera. It suits him.
I don't think I took one breath during the entire video. Just amazing.
THIS KIND OF TALENT RARELY COMES ALONG! THANK YOU JONATHAN FOR BEING BRAVE AND SHOWING THE WORLD YOUR TALENT!
Awesome as always, Jonathan! What a great voice & nice young man too! He is only 21 years old now too! Amazing! Keep singing, & hope you visit USA soon!
His wonderfully beautiful voice touches my soul.
Bravo! Anche la pronuncia è molto buona, le parole sono limpide e comprensibili. Ti auguro di cuore una radiosa felice carriera.
A gift from God.God bless you Jonathan in your career.Fantastic!
Your rendition of this ballad had me in tears! I could hear your heart in your voice. BRAVO! BRAVO!
Jonathan Antoine will be the next biggest world class tenor I am sure. Great voice, perfect pitch. Remember all the old greats are dead or with walkers, lol.
Fleugar OutDoors Träume sind Schäume.
Jonathon is so amazing. This rendition is so beautifully performed. The people he has brought joy to are always appreciative. His voice is the most beautiful and reaches those notes with ease.🍊What more can one ask for. At this age he is awesome and gifted to high degree. Would be so nice to duet with Andrea Bocelli. Il Volo too if possible. Jonathon is definitely one of the very best I have heard. Thank you so very much.
Breathtakingly BEAUTIFUL. What a gift to us all. I for one am humbled to have heard this.
Bravo Jonathan, just can,t stop listening to this piece. Puccini must have written it hoping that a voice such as yours would come along sometime in the future. Terrific 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏😍xox
When Jonathan asked about songs to sing, this was one that I asked him to do. I remember his comments to me, "I'll be probably crying at the end'.
What a beautiful voice Jonathan has. I too remember him on BGT and was just wondering the other day how he was getting on, well now I know. The feeling he puts into this Aria is pure emotion and the richness of his voice is simply wonderful. Jonathan has been blessed with a true gift.
This is glorious! It's extremely difficult to sing with the conductor behind you, especially verisimo repertoire! Bravo!
Amazing! His voice has become purer, more focused and simply beautiful. He is just 21 now. If his voice develops any further, he will clearly be able to become one of the top dramatic tenors of our time.
Honestly, he is already.
When you allow the young to reach for their dream this is the result divinity.
saw this young man in lowestoft .fantastic voice wonderful show....keep it up
To all of the Jonathan Antoine fans that would like to hear him in the USA, he will be in concert in Thousand Oaks, Ca. on September 15, 2018.. tickets through ticketmaster.. See him now, in a few years his tickets will cost a small fortune.. now is your chance to see & hear the voice of the 21st century..
Could not agree more. A natural successor to Pavarotti ( RIP ) and Domingo.
I agree totally, Barry ~ What a joy to listen to him ...
What a gifted young tenor!the only error I could see is some diction due to not been so familiar with italian.
he is a legend!!!
Irronic today is 9-15-18 and I just watched a bunch of his videos starting with America has Talent and I knew he would make it big. Him and his sister sound beautiful together. I'm in Florida but will be on the look out for him in the area.
He makes Puccini proud. Well done, Jonathan. Well done.
I don't know what to say. This kid is one of the gifted one's. I wish him all the best.
Much Love to Jonathan he is really awesome has a very nice character as it seems and i hope he does very well in his life and continues to get even better
I would love for Jonathan to come to Brazil. I love his voice. So beautiful !!!
Que increíble voz de muchacho, simplemente maravillosa
What an amazing performance of this Aria from Tosca.
His voice sounds so mature & very reminiscent of great opera singers of the past.
I love that man❤
Bravo! Bravo! Bravooo! Amazing. I love you.
Incredible!God blessed him so much!Definetely the new Pavarotti.Lots of love from Greece
The only thing he have in comon with Pavarotti is obesity
Meu Deus, nunca, mas nunca mesmo ouvi o Nessum Dorma tão bem cantado. Voz imortal.
Jonathan is WORLD CLASS. And he deserves a World Class Orchestra.
His rendition of this is amazing for his age, I have studied opera and know bel canto. He is amazing!
Bravissimo!!!!Grazie mille!
Magnificent, stupendous, unbelievably beautiful - love hearing this guy sing.
This is the most amazing rendition I have ever heard!! Amazing! Amazing!
Jason Goff listen to franco corelli and then talk!
He is without doubt this country's finest tenor and at only 21 his potential is immense!
Another beautiful performance! I liked that you said "hello, thank you!" at the end.
Bravo! I love his facial expressions very much, they add character to his tremendous voice.
Listen to the singer Dimash for example
ua-cam.com/video/W29zEuZVaxs/v-deo.html
Jonathan Antoine, also on many of his recordings, will utilize this for great effect.
Here is a short example
ua-cam.com/video/eZ0Nah-D7dY/v-deo.html
But what you don't see is a Opera singer capitilizing on that and using a microphone with intimate settings to further enhance the tone.
The intensity of his Voice and this performance..still brings tears to my eyes 👀!
