I have the TemTop m2000 and it is awesome, a bit more money but when it is a matter of life or death - I think we may need to spend a little more to not get a fake LOL. I see so many fake meters with only one sensor inside to give 6 or 7 different readings and that is just not possible, so many people are buying them thinking that the information is keeping them safe while all along the information is faked by mathematical equations performed by a micro-processor instead of genuine sensors. Nice video! I have a question, wouldn't it be enough to just maintain a nice cleaning and ventilation routine to keep the air quality on a nice level? In that case people wouldn't need to buy an air quality monitor?
Howdy. I just got a quote to do an indoor air quality test. They said it would be $595. I literally live right by a major freeway. I also just got a whole house fan. Should I just do the $595 or do it on my own and purchase a device?

I like the idea of this monitor and currently I'm on the search for one with multiple sensors such as this, however it looks like ill probably need to get a separate monitor for radon and ozone since its nearly impossible to find all of these in one. I live in Canada so Ozone isn't the biggest concern during winter months but when summer comes around there tends to be some smog and it is recommended that we have radon monitors. My only concern with this meter is the precision, for the price that it is, I cant see it being that precise even after calibration. I tried doing a bit of research to see if the company listed a variance but came up empty handed.

I need something that works really well...I've had sinus /allergy problems for years....and my olfactory senses often arent working properly....there are times when I can smell something that is like a chemical smell?......and I hadnt used any cleaning products?.....and sometimes my sinuses closed right up for days after inhaling it........its driving me crazy....not knowing if something is actually going on or is it a problem stemming form log term affects of Covid.....because one of the symptoms was loss of sense of smell/taste ...and then when it returns....its like 110, its very over whelming.....Im not sure where the chemical smell is coming from?...maybe there is a issue with the furnace?...I don't know...this has been going on for months....so I am looking for a really good device to test the air in my house so I can find out what the problem is....
The unit tests for ALL particles. Since you already have a health problem, I would suggest buying a higher priced, and more sensitive/accurate tester. I can provide a link if requested. Thanks for watching!
@@electronicsNmore I have had the house tested by a number of home inspectors proving that it’s loaded with fiberglass insulation and I’ve had Industrial air purifiers to take Most of it out but it’s still in all the furniture, on me and my clothes and in the air outside because of storm sandy in 2012. My problem is I can’t get anyone to believe that fiberglass is dangerous when it’s airborne and after researching for six years, it’s airborne everywhere and becomes airborne from our landfills all over the country, probably in the world. I can’t even find food without Fiberglass in it which is causing me to have colitis now. It’s been covered up just like asbestos was only it’s more dangerous because it affects more than the Lungs. What do you suggest when you find fiberglass in someone’s house? The EPA won’t help because it’s a residence. Thanks for any info you can give me, it is starting to affect my breathing now and I am frightened.
Looks accurate for PM2.5 not sure how accurate it is for PM1.0. It is the ultrafine particles that do the most harm. I think to accurately measure these fine particles you would need very sophisticated equipment costing 4 figure sums 🙈
@@electronicsNmore Thanks for responding. Just out of curiosity. If my PM10 and PM2.5 range between 1-3 does that mean I have a serious mold problem? I have a $50 Air Quality Monitor. Here's what I got in my home: *Air Quality - 3-5 *HCHO - 0.100-0.300 *TVOC - 0.070-0.190 *PM2.5 - 1-3 *PM10 - 1-3

Hello . Do I have to calibrate this device every time I turn it on ? When I calibrate it outside and bring it home it shows very high values . Then if I turn off the device and turn it on at home the values will be very low . Each time I waited 20 minutes for the sensor stabilization. I do not know whether to return the device or which values are correct . Please help .
Not every time, unless you leave it in an atmosphere with lots of vocs. Make sure you calibrate outdoors in very clean air. People spay painting, cutting grass, being close to a busy road, all no good.
@@electronicsNmore Saw the video on Inara Fortier profile. I did similar tests and my results were hcho: 0.780 tvoc: 5.900 if I went outside and came back. If these high readings are correct, that's not good.

@@daveqqqq Saw a a CBC Marketplace episode on air purifiers, marketing and efficiency. Go check it out if you want to save money !
I need to test for fiberglass particles. I was diagnosed with fiberglass poisoning.
The unit tests for ALL particles. Since you already have a health problem, I would suggest buying a higher priced, and more sensitive/accurate tester. I can provide a link if requested. Thanks for watching!
@@electronicsNmore I have had the house tested by a number of home inspectors proving that it’s loaded with fiberglass insulation and I’ve had Industrial air purifiers to take
Most of it out but it’s still in all the furniture, on me and my clothes and in the air outside because of storm sandy in 2012.
Link didn’t work, anyone know where else I can find this air quality detector?
Hi Chase. I just replaced the link. Thanks for watching!
thank you for this informative video. But I was wondering, how long does it take for getting the data every time we use?
I would appreciate if u reply this message
Power up the unit, place inside the room to test for 15 minutes, then check the readings.
electronicsNmore it means, we have to wait for 15 minutes for every data?
Looks accurate for PM2.5 not sure how accurate it is for PM1.0. It is the ultrafine particles that do the most harm. I think to accurately measure these fine particles you would need very sophisticated equipment costing 4 figure sums 🙈
Hey mate. Would this pick up dangerous mold spores? Need to test my place for mold
The unit cannot differentiate between different types of mold. In order to test for mold, you need to use a petri dish and see what grows.
@@electronicsNmore Thanks for responding. Just out of curiosity. If my PM10 and PM2.5 range between 1-3 does that mean I have a serious mold problem?
I have a $50 Air Quality Monitor.
Here's what I got in my home:
*Air Quality - 3-5
*HCHO - 0.100-0.300
*TVOC - 0.070-0.190
*PM2.5 - 1-3
*PM10 - 1-3
What have you found to be generally considered “safe” or ideal TVOC levels?
Hello Brian. The device has limits set, and you can also look on the EPA's website. Thanks for watching!
Where do you get one from
Link in video description area. I secured a money saving coupon code for my viewers. Thanks for watching!
Is there anyway to test what's being sprayed on us? I was out the other day & I watched a plane at high altitude spray out for a bit. Then whatever it was just started dropping very rapidly above me. I saw the plane start spraying again in the distance.
Only a chemist/lab can test air samples. Thanks for watching!
That's a great unit. Are there unit for airborne mold?
You need to use a petri dish for a mold test.
@@electronicsNmore Thanks.
I'll be showing that in the future. :-)
How fast do you have to press the power button twice to set the calibration. I'm not sure I did it correctly?
Just press it twice.
Where did u buy urs
@@DigitalDissident There's a link in the video description area.
I ordered from amazon.
Can this apparatus be used to detect asbestos pollution?
No
@@electronicsNmore OK. Thanks for your quick reply.
What's it called
All good, but I wonder why such a serious device might have comic sans as the font for some of the menu screens.
Radon and CO2?
You need different testers for that.
Can u please share the brand name or Amazon link for.the product, thanks
Don't bother, it's 20 bucks higher than my link.
Great informative vid - thank you.
Just one thing though - I notice this model seems to be DM106.
Would you know - in a nutshell - what is the main difference between this model DM106 and the DM106A seen on many sites too. just curious - THX.
They're not all the same, even though they look the same. The firmware could be different, or the sensors. What you buy is totally up to you. Thanks for watching!
@@electronicsNmore Sorry.. I am a bit confused as to what model you are actually using in the video.please confirm?
I ask this because the affiliate link you include in your description brings me to a webpage that states the model is DM106,
BUT
on one of the photos on that same retailer page, it shows the back of the unit with writing on the label as model: DM106A?
SO that is why I ask. In short, in your opinion:
- which is the latest model?
- which is the better model?
@@SS-pi2yi The link is where my unit came from.
@@electronicsNmore ok I see maybe they updated the item or offerring not sure.. Just curious - what does it say on the back of your unit: model DM106 ? or model DM106A ? thank you.
If I don't go outside the reading will be hcho: 0.030 tvoc: 0.100. It does not make sense . The device seems to be calibrating all the time looking for the cleanest sample. If these high readings are correct, that's not good.
without calibration how accurate the measurement?
You can't expect high accuracy for a low priced unit, but it's definitely useful.
Can this be used to monitor amount of lead dust in air?
It doesn't look for lead, it looks for all particles in the air. Lead is heavy, so it won't stay in the air for long unless it's lead fumes.
What can I use to test incense? My neighbor is burning incense or oil and it is litetally killing me. I can hardly breath and the air is dense not fresh. She claims that she is not burning incense and I am crazy.
If it is putting out particulates the meter will pick it up
Wow. It's 85 degrees in there...or is it just the lamp
More than likely the light used to film. It was in close proximity.
Worth to buy this tester ?
If you want a super high accuracy unit, they'll cost a lot more than this one.
@@electronicsNmore xiaomi mijia air quality tester
Sharpies have formaldehyde in them?!
They definitely have VOC's. :-)
Thank You!
How reliable are these devices realistically..
They work good considering the low cost. If you want higher accuracy and higher sensitivity units, be prepared to spend hundreds or more. Thanks for watching!
Mine keeps beeping and my HCHO is in yellow at 0.130, what does that mean?
Take the unit outside away from cars or anything else that can pollute the air, and calibrate it. Then re-test.
is there a way to pull data off of this meter?
Hi Dylan. The link posted says replay data, but I don't see a way to do it. I have another unit that plots a graph. Thanks for watching!
@@electronicsNmoredoes the USB enumerates as a serial port? If so maybe it is possible to stream the measurements via UART
Hi , where do i buy this unit from?
Hi Tony. I have links in the video description area.
Price ?
i just bought one.
I'd never be able to calibrate this one, I am sandwiched between a highway and the on ramp.
You'd have to drive to a field or wooded area.
@@electronicsNmore Funny, I don't know why I didn't think of that. Thank you.
Where can I purchase this?
Hi Maryanne. There's a link in the video description area. Thanks for watching!
Isn’t there a smartphone app for Indoor Air Quality, from like 0.001 to basically severe pollution >500 or whatever. As well as magnifying lenses via another app for pics to see ie., dust mites Fleas and other things that could be very harmful to people and pets? It’s August 2023 and technology is supposedly fantastic but the many manufacturers are getting much better basically each day. And it can be expensive.????? If anyone knows what it is called and and how to find and use it without spending too much money etc. Let me know if there’s really such a thing and the MSRP $$ etc.
Please let me know. Thanks
