That's a fun story about the baler coming back to your family! I'm not super familiar with the JD 24T, but I have spent some time in the dust behind one back in the day!
My dad bought a JD 24T back in 69 and I ran it for about 5 years doing custom hay work back then. I had around 250k bales ran through it when it got to where it was having a lot of break downs and he decided to get a JD336 to replace it. Seeing the 24T running brings back some nice memories. Thanks and I hope you had a nice Memorial Day!
That’s probably the nicest looking 24T I’ve seen and the bales look great! We just sold our 24T this spring to take the temptation to make small bales away
Been a while since we small square baled any hay. I think it was 30 or so years ago when we baled with a chute and flat wagon. There was an 830 John deere on the baler then. Fun to watch. Happy memorial day weekend to you and your family
Our hay set up is a 87 I think deutz allis 6275 with a 2006 claas disco 3500 mower. We have a Pequea tt2100 as the Tedder pulled by a 2001 deutz agrolux 80. On the rake we have a tunutti gr 15 I think pulled by a 1979 jd 2240. For the baler we have a 2023 Massey Ferguson 1745d. It’s pulled by the 2001 deutz agrolux 80. For the spare baler it’s a claas rolant. The dealership said they would give us 1000 bucks trade in so we decided to keep it. For the hay hauling truck it’s a Chevy c70 with the 366 gas motor. It pulls a 35 foot pro trax gooseneck trailer. For the field for loading we have a 863 bobcat wheeled and for the barn to stack a kubota svl 90-2 tracked. The bobcat and two deutz tractors have an air cooled motor on them. If you get the chance to buy a deutz tractor with an air cooled motor buy it. They are bulletproof tractors
That’s quite the cool lineup! I don’t trade in things that they insult us with a terrible low price either. Would love to see your equipment running in the field! Thanks for the comments.
Bails look good and tight as does the pack job on a wagon. Having hayed my whole life I always look to see how people stack wagons on each tier. Odd i know lol
You guys use a pretty big tractor for fluffing and raking. I had to use a AC that was so small it only had 1 front tire. I'd have been in heaven if the farm allowed me to use the 3010 or 4020. Hit a woodchuck hole with 1 front tire 😂. They baled just like that and had some heavy bales. It was a 160 head milking freestall operation in Amsterdam NY back in the 70s. They also had a 5020.
We have a JD 720 gasser that’s still in the neighbors barn and our 4020 needs batteries so the 4320 and 4430 got put to use. I pulled a lot of bales out of that baler as a kid. Was fun to run it!
@@Thewaywefarm we lay them flat, not on the side. First layer one row in the middle of wagon, in the direction it comes out of the baler, on both sides across. But maybe your wagon is not wide enough to load like this?
@@Thewaywefarm You would love a Hay hook for one hand to pull out of chute, then spear one end of bale with hook, grab the far string with other hand - cut side of bale away from body(easier on pants) and put 2 bales wide end to end across back of wagon. If you want a bigger load, you can run a row perpendicular to the first two bales between them like a "T" and stack them 5-6 high -whatever you can reach. Also - the cut side of bale is a hair shorter and as you stack them, they will naturally lean towards back of wagon(if your wagon has a vertical back to stack against). We stacked for a fork on a electric hay hoist in barn mow that would take 8 bales up at a time(4pairs end to end). Lots of hot, dusty, sweaty work. :)

That’s a crazy amount of hay through a baler! Glad to bring back some memories. We had a good weekend, hope you did too!

Now that was a smart business decision! We can use small squares easier. Thanks for watching and the comments!
great video Tom...that 24T is in AMAZING shape! Like the classic Ford NH outfit in the beginning too.
Thanks Ed, the neighbor has the 9700, very cool setup! Hope all is well with you guys!

When I was little Mom pulled this baler with our 720, hopefully we can bale some straw with it this summer.
Happy Memorial Day weekend to you also!
@Thewaywefarm happy memorial day weekend brother. That would be awesome to run on a 620 or 720

@@Thewaywefarm might have some of those types of videos over the summer. I am going to have a couple videos out today
@@O.KFarmToysdeutzallis6275 I’ll check them out! Thanks
My father bought a t24 new , he did custom bale all over northern central Tennessee and southern Kentucky for year’s .
@@MegaRiffraff They are great balers, thanks for sharing some of your family history.
Hay looks great. The 24T still making bricks…👍
Good old machine! Glad we got it back! Thanks for watching
I'm glad there's throwers on the balers and throw racks!
Very true! This is the hard way!

24T are good balers. We used one for years.
We were impressed with how well it worked.
Very cool
Thanks Jason!
Enjoy the equipment history story. 👍👍👍
Thanks for watching!
Is that a twine or rope bailer? Seems to do a good job. I stack the wagon completely different. Whatever works I guess 😂
looks twine
Yes it’s a twine baler, guys that sell hay prefer wire because you can get more pounds in a bale. Would like to see how you stack hay.

That is a lot of tractor on that baler.
Next time we’ll use our 720 2 cylinder or our 4020
Hello Did you get your new Machine Shed put up already and what size were you building if I may ask you
Yes, baler is sitting in the new barn! We went with a 60X120 and it’s already too small!
I"d have to have a kicker on that baler.
It would be nice
Nice video. Was that K junior mowing for you?
No, it was a neighbor east of here. Thanks for watching!
They gotta shorten up that hitch on the second wagon... Too much reaching for the bale.
We borrowed it from a neighbor and didn’t take the time to shorten it, next time we will.
Nice video
Look s like it's doing a good job no miss tied I have 224t fingers like up your way is good place for parts
Only missed when it changed balls of twine. Was that Nelson Parts?
Nice video
Thanks Wayne!
