Seems like a much better process then I use to backlap my mclane.. I’m ashamed to admit I use duck tape to attach my drill to the sprocket lol I should really buy that adapter...

I notice with my california trimmer the reel wont cut paper unless the bedknife contact is pretty tight. Is this normal or do I have to backlap?

I would backlap it. I baxklap 2 - 3 times a year. I make very small adjustments after backlapping to get the reel to cut paper.

What type of grease gun are you using to grease your trimmer for general maintenance?
