My deepest pronaams to beloved Padmabhushan Panditji.
It is always great to hear his voice and word, as fantastic as his music.
The people who organized this conversation, Ramprapanna, or Hidayat Khan, deserve a pat on their back.
Panditji is the ONE & ONLY artist who is the true authentic torch bearer of Indadkhani gharana. All others can play the sitar in somewhat similar BUT not same as Imdadkhani, Enayatkhani and Vilayat khan school of music. This is because of his own capability and the musical education imparted by a legendary musician Acharya B Mukherjee. Many legendary artists including Pt Bhimsen joshi considered visiting his residence as a pilgrimage. There is no one who can play the Surbahar as perfectly as Panditji.
At least now those who claim to be the Imdadkhan Gharana artists, should realise that they hardly know anything about the Gharana. Please also know that Panditji can play many different string instruments including the south Indian Veena as perfectly as the Sitar.
Guru bin gyan na paave.
For those of us who have seen Panditji and Acharyaji it is like we have had a darshan of Goddess Saraswati.

Ustad shahid Pervez is indeed a great artist. This is not about Shahid Pervez.

Something like that. So I conclude that after Ustad Vilayat Khan Saab there is NO one in that family who can carry on his legacy.
Ustad Shahid Pervez is a wonderful legendary artist, of the Imdadkhani Gharana.
But Shujaat certainly doesn't deserve the status of Ustad vilayat Khan Saab.
I admire Hidayat for his humility and respectful attitude towards other artists who were not trained by ustad vilayat Khan Saab. He can surely take training from Panditji.
