Hi! Would you tell me if the PhotoPills's augmented reality works on Pixel 4a? I know it's a very specific question, but I would like to know that before buying the phone. Thank you!
Bro you can install g cam in latest samsung or OnePlus smartphones I tried it on OnePlus 6 it has larger sensor then pixel 4 results are mind blowing 🔥🔥
Thanks! It depends on the type of shots you like taking. For astrophotography, wider is usually better. For me, in most other cases, I don't shoot that wide.
Thanks! I never tested on the SE but on the 8, if you put the phone on a tripod, a night mode should active and a setting at the bottom of the screen will let you change the exposure time. You can use an exposure of 26s for the iPhone. Let me know if it worked!
They both have a "night mode" but they are very different. The iPhone only lets you take longer exposures. It won't make any "magic" to make it look better. On the other hand, the Pixel uses "computational photography" (aka magic) to analyse the movement of the phone while taking the shot, stitch multiple photos and make complex edits to get really good night shots. If photography is important to you, the Pixel 4a will have the best photos (in all light conditions)!
Thanks for an awesome tutorial. I was considering replacing my HTC m10 and U11, which I use for business photography. I am amazed that a phone sensor can capture enough light to capture stars clearly, no matter how long one can set exposure time. Amazing...
Hey what a great video! Thank you so much! What do you think, would it also be possible to photograph lightning with the Astro mode? I have seen a photo of a lightning captured with a Pixel 3 but I don't know how they did it.
Thanks! 😍You mean lightning like during a storm? If so, just being in Night Sight or even the normal camera would be enough. It very bright and very quick which means you don't need anything special. What is really hard is timing. You need to press the shutter right before the lightning strikes. Astrophotography might capture it but I am not sure what the result you look like (it depends if the algorithms decide to keep it or not).
@@loicba Yes I meant lightning during a storm. : ) In DSLR, to do lightning photography, you have to put Shutter Speed to 15-30 seconds and press the shutter and hope that a lightning will strike. I thought since Astro mode keeps the Shutter for 4-5 minutes, it's more than enough for a lightning strike? But I'm not sure. Anyway, thank you so much for replying. You have an awesome channel! Keep up the good work!
@@vahagnpoghosyan4369 I actually didn't know the shutter speed needed to be that long! The astrophotography actually takes 15 photos with an exposure of 16 seconds. You definitely should try! I know that if a car passes by in the photo, they will capture that light trail but sometimes they remove the light trail of a plane or satellite if it's not bright enough.
Here's the link: store.google.com/in/product/pixel_4a_fabric_case?hl=en-GB. It's expensive but I dropped my phone multiple times and it's still perfectly fine!
It's really how good such a small sensor is performing. All thanks to the software. I was really wowed by the image you took from Canon 6D MK II at 15:07 . That one was truly an amazing picture. Can you please somehow give the full-size image? Maybe a drive link?
Thanks Shivam! I have a website with my astrophotography photos. Here is the page with the pictures of the Milky Way: astrophotography.lbaphotographie.ca/milky-way
No, night videos are not good at all. Night sight video isn't something that exist 😥 It's actually isn't some that is possible because night sight works by taking 6 pictures of 1 second each where a video need 30 images per second.
Yes, all Pixel phones after the Pixel 3 have the astrophotography mode. I won't show up if you don't have a tripod. If it's perfectly stable, go in the "night mode" and wait a few seconds. The little message will pop-up and the shutter button will change with an icon of the stars to let you know you are in astrophotography mode.
Hi man, your videos are awesome! Keep it up! Just wondering, is it possible to get good moonshots with the pixel 4a? Can you make a video/tutorial on how to perform it?
Thanks! No, I do not think it's a great phone for that because it's way to much wide. Here some photos I just posted on Instagram: instagram.com/p/CN7x_RFF-b-/. The moon is tiny and without a telescope or something like that, it's not really possible to get good moon shots. Even with my DSLR, a 200mm and lot's of cropping, the moon is still really small 😥 instagram.com/p/CEopJ3UHhQm/?igshid=1h1hr8bnnfp33
@@loicba yeah I see what you mean. I have been trying to get a proper moon shot in night time but yeah, I can't get "close enough" to have a proper definition of the moon surface. Anyway, much appreciated your work and your on point suggestion! Just started to follow you on Instagram as well! Keep going mate!!
Hi Loïc, thanks for such an informative video. Can you please also upload the astro shots taken by Pixel 4a somewhere (e.g. your blog) so that I can take a look?

Here is the direct link: astrophotography.lbaphotographie.ca/pixel-4a-astrophotography-mode. I also updated the website to have the homepage point to the albums instead of the written guides (it was confusing).
I don't use a pixel but I have gcam installed on my phone, I use it to mainly photograph the milky way which turned out great but it could also barely photograph the Orion nebula, it's really blurry, but still very impressive for a phone
Polarr Photo Editor is in my opinion the most feature complete app when using the free version: ua-cam.com/video/th9P0ZwgWBs/v-deo.html. They have a subscription but it's really optional.
Just keep me thinking since this is the Perseids meteor shower season, do you think that Pixel's astrophotography mode work on meteor shower? Anyone tried yet?
It's a great question! Yes I did, the answer is that you don't know. If the meteor is bright enough, the processing will probably keep it in the shot (just like it does with planes). If it's not bright enough, it will think it's an error and just remove it. You might see it in the little timelapses they now create: ua-cam.com/video/Ot3SxyfwrJc/v-deo.html
Great video, very helpful thank you. Do you know if astrophotography mode works on a Pixel 3 XL? I'm guessing once I put it on a tri-pod it will enable astrophotography mode as shown in the video. Many thanks
Thanks! Yes it does support have astrophotography, it was the main new camera feature for the Pixel 3 lineup 🙂It needs to be steady for a few seconds for the camera to enable astrophotography mode.

Hey Loic, love your videos. What size tripod do you use for astrophotography on the Pixel 4a?
It usually use this tripod (my main one) because it's the one I have with me: kit.co/loic.bellemare.alford/youtube-gear/1942186-veo-2-265cb-carbon-t
I have 4a 5g and and its really wonderful phone. Great battery life and camera is excellent too
Yep, that's an accurate description!
Great video 👍
Can you share the wallpapers you used on your pixel 4a 😅 Really liked the wallpaper.
Thanks! You can check my website astrophotography.lbaphotographie.ca and screenshot some pictures.
Detailed review 👍
Glad you liked it!
Please share the link for your mobile case
Here's the link: store.google.com/in/product/pixel_4a_fabric_case?hl=en-GB. It's expensive but I dropped my phone multiple times and it's still perfectly fine!
@@loicba thank you so much ☺☺☺☺☺
hi bro can you please tell how is the headphone jack is it good for high res music or should i go for experia 10 iii
I have no idea, I don't listen to high res music
It's really how good such a small sensor is performing. All thanks to the software.
I was really wowed by the image you took from Canon 6D MK II at 15:07 . That one was truly an amazing picture. Can you please somehow give the full-size image? Maybe a drive link?
Thanks Shivam! I have a website with my astrophotography photos. Here is the page with the pictures of the Milky Way: astrophotography.lbaphotographie.ca/milky-way
Great video! Looking forward for more content. Subbed.
Awesome, thank you!
night videos are also this good like the night photos?? I'm asking this cause no one talks about NIGHTSIGHT VIDEO making with pixel4a...pixel5.
No, night videos are not good at all. Night sight video isn't something that exist 😥 It's actually isn't some that is possible because night sight works by taking 6 pictures of 1 second each where a video need 30 images per second.
@@loicba I use nightscape video recording at night with my one plus 8t and it's great! So on pixel 4a u can't...damn... that's not good then😐😐
@@loicba You can do night videos on other phones LOL! That's why I'm asking...
So.. can't believe pixel 4a can't do that .damn
I didn't know that the OnePlus had that feature! But yes, the Pixel in the video department is a pity...
@@loicba yeah op8t has this nighscape video mode feature! I made videos in the dark and they are pretty great!
Best video for smatphones ever
Thanks!
I have bought 4a 5G is there astrophotography in this model
@@matteocaleffi6291 thanks! Will do!
Hard work bro I appreciate.

Good Job, thats why Im motivated to continue vlogging..💚❤💙

Hi Loïc, thanks for such an informative video. Can you please also upload the astro shots taken by Pixel 4a somewhere (e.g. your blog) so that I can take a look?
Thanks! I already have a website with the astro photos: astrophotography.lbaphotographie.ca/. They are also on my Instagram: @loic.bellemare.alford
@@loicba Checked your Instagram and found the photos. Thank you very much. However, did not find the photos in your website. I must be looking at the wrong section. Cheers.
Here is the direct link: astrophotography.lbaphotographie.ca/pixel-4a-astrophotography-mode. I also updated the website to have the homepage point to the albums instead of the written guides (it was confusing).
@@loicba Thank you. I could see them now. Beautiful pictures.
@@boredengineer6538 Great! Happy you like them 😊
I don't use a pixel but I have gcam installed on my phone, I use it to mainly photograph the milky way which turned out great but it could also barely photograph the Orion nebula, it's really blurry, but still very impressive for a phone
It is very impressive for a phone if you want to get the stars. Like I showed at the end, using a DSLR still performs a lot better!
Great video! Really useful, and I'm gonna buy 4a 5g because you can shoot stars with wide angle as well. Subscibed.
Nice! I wander if you can shoot astrophotography with the wide angle lens? That would be amazing!
@@loicba yes you can! But the quality should be not as good as on main lenses. But anyway want to try it)
Yes, wide angle lenses on smartphones are never really good 😥
Very nice work, also you look very happy :D
Haha thanks! I was super excited to test the astrophotography mode!!
Is there any completely free to use app for those edits? Or an app that I can buy once and not pay monthly subscription..
Polarr Photo Editor is in my opinion the most feature complete app when using the free version: ua-cam.com/video/th9P0ZwgWBs/v-deo.html. They have a subscription but it's really optional.
@@loicba thank you soo much 🙏❤️
Just keep me thinking since this is the Perseids meteor shower season, do you think that Pixel's astrophotography mode work on meteor shower? Anyone tried yet?
It's a great question! Yes I did, the answer is that you don't know. If the meteor is bright enough, the processing will probably keep it in the shot (just like it does with planes). If it's not bright enough, it will think it's an error and just remove it. You might see it in the little timelapses they now create: ua-cam.com/video/Ot3SxyfwrJc/v-deo.html
@@loicba interesting! Hope Pixel 6 will include some manual mode or maybe more featuring within astrophotography mode for more variety of shoot. 👍🏻
@@maxzchua I really do hope that they give more control too!
@@loicba amazing, thank you! I just placed it on the table for a few seconds so it was still and astrophotography mode was enabled automatically. Looking forward to taking some cool shots! Thanks for the help 🙂 p.s. you earned a new subscriber 😁
Great! I just took a few astrophotography shots last night, it's such an amazing feature!
Yes, it does look amazing!
Great vlog buddy 🌟🌙❤️👍

Can you do a video on pro Cam X?
Do you have anything specific about it? I keep talking about it in some of my videos so I might have already covered what you are looking for.
Would it be possible to record the stars with this cellphone? Does video have astrophotography?
There isn't an astrophotography mode for video but I have a video on how you can create an astrophotography time lapse with your phone: ua-cam.com/video/RgKgM73yBQw/v-deo.html
@@loicba thank you so much bruh, I just bought one Google pixel 4, I'm gonna need some lessons to get master pieces 😁
Good effort brother, but I think the shot where ur explaining about the Lightroom ur face isn't in focus or maybe it's due to low light it's not about to focus . Great review ☺️
Might just be UA-cam that is currently streaming everything at 480p instead of HD 🤷♂️It look sharp on the original file.
@@loicba oh yes maybe but I was watching it at 720p , no a problem I think because of too much online classes ig I need glasses now 😂❤️

Bro what about charging in pixel 4a?
It has fast charging, I think 15 minutes is supposed to give 50% but I never tested, I always charge the phone during the night.
Hello bro I have seen this video already but I came here to request you to make a video.
I captured astrophotography photo on my pixel 4a.
Can you make a video on editing the astro photo using snapseed or Lightroom please....
