    Nicely done. I think a big part of caliber debate is that people over estimate the durability of the human body. Nobody out there has bullet proof organs, arteries, or central nervous system.

      A lot depends on where it hits, and that varies with each situation. Doubt the bad guy will ask what caliber. Hopefully it's academic and won't be tested in a real self defense situation. More powerful is better but you've also got to have the firearm with you when you need it.

    I carry my 100 year old 1903 Colt Hamerless everyday. It NEVER fails. Rimlock is not an issue for me. The .32 is way more than enough. Especially using current CD cartridges.

    It’s probably worth noting that a 380 works for summer carry given light clothes on both parties. As weather gets colder it makes more sense to go up in caliber given a larger handgun is easier to conceal and also capable of penetrating more layers of clothing.

      All handgun rounds are lethal. More people die from .22 caliber each year than any other. All calibers will poke a hole in you. Pop a few rounds into an attacker with a .22 and see if they keep coming at ya.

Certainly all you'll ever need to protect yourself unless you are harbouring strange John Wick fantasies where you are "taking on" some "bad guys". shoot somebody centre mass with a 32 and, at best, they are looking at extended hospital stays.

I live in a rural area 10,000 in the whole county and work in a town of about 5000 so carrying a p32 would be easy for every day carry compliance and just makes more since for me. theres been one armed robbery and no murders for the last 30 years in my county. i would like something i can just throw in my pocket thats easily shootable thats not a 2 finger 380. I have a 32 Colt Model 1903 "Pocket Hammerless", my grandfather bought in 1922 and finally, handed down to me. It has been a wonderful, flawless operating and reliable auto pistol for almost 100 years now. I had it worked on 22 years ago for a tune up and some blueing. It is now 95 percent and still shooting strong. I live in California and do not have a CC permit, but I do carry this gun at "certain times". Fuck it, i am 70 years old with no priors. If I ever do get pinched for carrying a concealed weapon, I doubt I will have to do any time for it. So, in the mean time...

    • @johnscreekmark
      @johnscreekmark 6 років тому

      StellarBlue1 That Colt is a fine piece of workmanship. I’m scouting one out as we speak. My interest in .32 started with a almost accidental acquisition of a Beretta Model 70. The 1903 Colt was initially an esoteric interest as one of the Firearms used by Paul Kersey (aka Charles Bronson) in the movie “Death Wish II”. Cheers!

    • @StellarBlue1
      @StellarBlue1 6 років тому

      john - Years ago, I had a Beretta 70 in 22LR. I sadly traded it away for a s&w .38. Now, I am sorry I did, as it was a really fine pistol. Yes, I remember that DW movie. That gun was given to Paul Kersey as a presentation piece in a wood box if I remember correctly. It was chrome plated, was it not? Of course my Colt 32 model is old but I had it re blued/tabled and like any piece J. Browning put his mind in, it is basically flawless. Enjoy your .32! You will love it, I promise...

    • @johnscreekmark
      @johnscreekmark 6 років тому

      .32 is an interesting round. I just picked up a Beretta 3032 TomCat and like it for a pocket carry. Your recollection of "DW" is good, however - in the original DW, Kersey was given a .32 Colt "Police Positive" revolver in the case. In DW2 he started using a Beretta 84 (real nice .380) and acquired the 1903 Colt Hammerless after interrupting a mugging/rape in an underground garage. He shot one of the muggers with his 84, and then picked up the 1903 Colt Hammerless that the dead mugger dropped...using it as a 2nd firearm throughout the rest of the movie.
      I have an 84...now fishing around for a Colt Police Positive and 1903 Hammerless. Enjoy.

      @brentgogel726 4 роки тому +3

      I had one and carried it primarily because of my job. The pocket clip accessory is cool. Really shitty sites but that's common w pocket rockets. All in all its a good belly gun. I would only run fmj in it. Realistically a hollowpoint isn't going to expand or in the slim case it does it won't penetrate deep enough.

    • @SPG063
      @SPG063 3 роки тому

      Hey, I think you know more about guns
      Ball ammo is fmj right?
      But isn‘t a hollow point or rip ammo better for self defense, because first they have more stopping power and do more damage and 2nd they don‘t penetrate well, so innocent people which may stand behind the attacker could get hit from fmj

    • @dhamilton201
      @dhamilton201 2 роки тому

      @The African Wildlife 🦁👑
      FMJ's/Ball Ammo are good for rounds .32 caliber and less, because they don't produce enough energy to expand a hollow point designed bullet. Since there's not much powder to propel the bullet,, you need to use FMJ's to get decent penetration. There's really no concern of a FMJ passing through and causing collaterall damage on rounds .32 and less.
      *Use Hollow points for 9mm and above because they are stronger loads and you want the bullet to expand and dump its energy without passing through. FMJ's for anything above 9mm are usually just used for practice at the range because they are much cheaper than Hollow Points!

    Thank you for this, after seeing the 380 in the ham I feel a lot more confident carrying one for personal protection. If it can make it through leather, ribs and through a ham then I have no doubt any attacker would never want to get hit by 7 rounds from a pocket ruger lcp or a kel-tec p3at. Just imagine the ham as a person and you firing 7 rapid fire rounds of 380 into that ham. I'm sure the result would be someone tore up so bad they stopped breathing.

      Just speaking for me personally I prefer the 380 because I live in Louisiana where it's hot a good part of the year and I wear a lot of shorts and sandals. So my Glock 26 is considered a carry weapon and is compact, reliable, and has great stopping power but in a pair of shorts it's very heavy. It drags one side of my shorts down or if I wear it in the rear it still drags the back of my shorts down. So for just heading out to the movies with my wife, going out to eat or to an outdoor concert or event, I find the 380 to be superb. It's so light I can barely feel it's there and it doesn't print or show because it's so slim. It holds 6 rounds in the magazine plus one in the chamber so with 7 rounds I don't feel at a disadvantage. I could carry a lightweight J-frame .38 with more power but again the cylinder makes it wider, it's heaver than the 380 and it has 5 rounds vs the 7.
      So to conclude, yes I get a little less power with the 380 but it's light enough to throw in the shorts pocket and forget it. It provides me with 7 rounds or chances to stop that attacker. If someone was harming me or the wife I'd pump 5 rounds into them so fast that surely at least one round is gonna hit a vital organ. If they even blink after the 5th round I'll pump 2 more into them for good measure all while we are backing up and getting the hell out of dodge.
      Now if I wore pants more often with a belt, I'd go with a compact 9mm for sure but I am just one of those relaxed guys that love baggy or comfortable clothing. Go to the beach and fishing a lot where I wear shorts and ride ATV's and do a lot of outdoor activities again where I'm wearing shorts. The 380 fits me well

I mean there is videos of troghpy bucks taken out with 9 mm of course it's close range but still shows 9 mm is super powerful. I could not see a 32 acp or 380 doing that kinda damage in single shot to deers chest cavity in single shot or taking it down quickly. The whitetail buck that is.

    From the experience I've had. Ball rounds are the way to go with the smaller calibers. Less snag points when feeding due to non over penetrating, when shot placement is used...if there is time to place your shot.

    • @DomRivers67
      @DomRivers67 Рік тому

      Shooting them in the little finger or earlobe with a 45 isn't going to somehow be better than a 32, so shot placement is no more or less important with either calibre
      One shot, centre mass, at personal defense range, with a 32....will do it, and more besides
      Probably the most popular calibre with military officers and police of the last 100 years.
      Of course, everyone is a tactical John Wick these days, and need at least 13 rounds of 380 to...I dunno, take on Yakuza in a dramatically lit bath house?....or some crap.
      Get shot in the big toe with a 22 short and you'll lose interest in someones wallet tbh lol

    • @techjunkie3916
      @techjunkie3916 Рік тому

      @@DomRivers67 But you still proved my point. Shot placement. Center mass. Still shot placement. A bullet is a bullet. True. But the caliber and area of entry does make a difference. No argument here. And who said little finger or earlobe? Lmao! If someone chose those they already lost the battle of wit. Now if it's your only available target then you have to do what you have to do.

    I have read several times that there is not much difference between the ..32 and .380. Therefore, I alternate between two of my carry weapons, a Seecamp .32 and Ruger LCP .380. p.s. waiting for a new small frame 9 millimeter to arrive. That gun will be added to the mix.

    Keep your tools on you if you'll keep a 32 on you great. If its s 380 great. If it's a mini revolver in 22mag better then a fist. But keep your tools on you and maybe even a reload or two. First to put shots on target usually wins the gun fight. See John at asp channel.

    My 4 carry guns nowadays ..Ruger lc9sPRO 9mm -10%of the time .. the other 70 % I carry..my Taurus TCP .380 loaded with Corbon DPX .all copper hollows ..or my 11oz Smith & Wesson 342 air light centennial .TI (titanium cylinder) .38 sp .HST .+p.38 130 gr... Both in my right hand jeans pocket and a DeSantis Superfly pocket holster.. the other 20% of the time when I'm wearing lightweight shorts or lightweight dress pants is my Kel-Tec p32..GEN #1 ... Extremely reliable and accurate up to 50 ft...7oz unloaded .. this gun I could clip to the waistband of my tighty whitey bvds if I wanted to walking around the house 🤣🤣.. I recommend FMJ hardball 32.. as you do not want the rim lock problem you get with shorter hollow points and you want penetration

      MadavTV that’s a no brainer. 9mm. Magazine capacity in a concealed carry gun is insignificant to me. A Glock 43 is smaller and lighter than both of the guns you mentioned. I personally carry a Shield 40 cal.
