I run hew Holland tractors they have the most lines of tractors sizes. A LS is a smaller support network but the new holland dealer network is very big. Kubota and the John deer both also have off brands also so you really can't put new Holland in your lineup when you don't have a new holland tractor there.
@@darinolson7923 kubotas has the worlds biggest dealers across the globe with 500,000 dealers all over the world and deeres has $2,500 dealers in the world plus deere facterys are in big troubble again and bunch went on protest at there factory wich isnt too good

I went with Kubota when I was tractor shopping for two primary reasons. The first was that although the JD compacts and sub-compacts don't suffer as much from this, I'm violently opposed to the effort JD is putting in to prevent right to repair on big agricultural equipment. The second is that a large portion of Kubota tractors are designed and built here in Georgia, in a plant not too far from me. That generates local jobs, which I consider to be a Good Thing(tm).
Just so you know, John Deere is built in Augusta, GA.
I wasn't aware of that, but point #1 still applies. I was thinking of New Holland, Case, Mahindra, etc not being manufactured in GA.
JD will sell you all the tools and books to work on your machine. You can buy the same license for diagnostics as the Deere dealer. Do you think it should be free? Does Ford, GM, Toyota or Tesla give you all the repair manuals for free when you buy one of them? SOMEONE pays for diagnostics software and manuals for ANY brand. Independent shops don't get scan tools for free for any other type of vehicles and they still pass the costs on or they're not in business for long.

@@JCWren What exactly do you know about it? I can Google stuff all day and only look at the first 5 articles. Usually those are sponsored, so good luck getting any more information than propaganda. Are you saying you can't purchase manuals? Are you saying you can't purchase diagnostic software? Both of those are 100% false.
Three years ago when I was in the market for a used compact tractor, Kubota and Deere were both way out of my budget. I came across a TYM 353 for 17k and it included a quick attach loader with bucket, pallet fork, and tine loader, a decent backhoe, angle blade, box blade with a homemade heavy roller attachment, brush hog, harrow, quick hitch, drawbar, and a few other odds and ends. He had a hard time selling it because it wasn't a name brand. I took a gamble and went for it. Hands down the best bet I've ever made!! I've put 350 hours on it, some abusing the living hell out of it, and it has yet to let me down. A lot of the parts are the same from other mfrs. I don't have a nearby dealer, but am able to get parts when needed. Mostly maintenance items like filters, although I let my wife drive it once and she broke a joystick cable, but had a new one within a week. Resale value is not important to me. Getting stuff done for an awesome price is!
I have an RK 55 (TYM) with about 200 hrs, zero problems and I treat it like a piece of rental equipment. Paid 32k brand new with an 8 year full warranty. Couldn't care less about the warranty, but the dealer is 3 miles away if it's ever needed.
I think one of the problems these days is everybody wants a show piece. For me, Its a tool like a hammer. I maintain it but I am not buying and selling hammers the minute they get a scratch on them. I dont care what the resale value is and when I get rid of it....... Im either dead or its headed to the scrap yard.
I still see deals on used equipment. The tractors with over 1000 hours (which is nothing) are still going for reasonable prices. The homeowners dont want these tractors because they show signs of use and dont have that brand new look.
My BX is closing in on 3000 hours. Still gets the job done just fine.
@@blessed7fold what difference does that make? Most people are capable of doing their own services and unless you just beat on your equipment, you shouldn’t need a stealership to fix it. I get most of whatever I need shipped to my door from Messicks. Same price or sometimes less than CNH
I saw someone trying out a TYM and that's alot tractor for the money!
I've used TYM tractors in the past. Engine and hydraulics are good, but they have all sorts of weird electrical issues and the casting quality in the rear end is junk. We use our equipment on a small farm and the TYM three point attachments to the case broke off pretty quickly while being used as intended. The bolts for the bucket get loose at the frame mounts and there's many other strange issues. I wouldn't recommend them for any real tough work. Go with Kubota or John Deere
Kioti is the best bang for the buck. IMO
I spent 3 months looking for a 25 hp compact and did lots of research as well , I ended up buying the RK25 and it wasnt a price driven purchase just liked all the options it came with and they are built by TYM , Love it so far and zero problems great video .
Bought a new Kioti CK3510 with a loader and backhoe in 2020. Saved a little over $7k over the same Kubota. Researched, Kubota, Kioti and Branson. I do my own maintenance and my nearest dealer, an hour away, sent me my first filter kit. The tractor has been superb for my needs and I never plan on selling, so this whole depreciation thing is moot. My only regret is that I did not buy a Kioti years ago. My "value" tractor has been a great value and that $7k savings has allowed me to purchase additional attachments.
I was looking at a CK2510/3510...i really should pull the trigger on it. I SHOULD have done it like 7 ish years ago when i started doing a lot of yard work/building my shop...i've done a lot by hand or paid to have someone come with much bigger excavator (would have had to regardless). I just have a hard time swallowing a 30k bill. I should probably pay the 68k on the house first lol.
Really good video on comparison of tractors. I've owned three John Deere diesel tractors for about 10 years each and had sold them for about what I paid for. You see the market is skyrocketed. My last John Deere was a 2011 2320 with loader paid $16, 000 I see the market price for this tractor now, between $16000 to $18,000 but new is about $22,000 Thanks again for your videos.
For me I was initially looking at NH, but then was very attracted to the TYM which I still think is the best value for a sub TLB. Because of Covid the only options I could actually get were massy Kubota LS and JD. All other brands were out of stock with long waiting lists. I ended up going with the 1025r even though I’m not fond of my local dealer. I drove to the next JD dealer down the road. At the time, the JD had the best pricing and I use it for work, so I didn’t want to risk having down time with the LS which seems to have more quirky issues. Courtney was very helpful in helping me make my choice and I love it.
I think dealer network and parts support should be front and centre of any purchase. It certainly was the deciding factor for me with my JD. Previous purchases were with other manufacturers. But the dealer had gone. I wouldn't put the Compact Masseys in the value economy pigeon hole. They are made by the Japanese company Iseki and they are squarely a Premium brand just like Yanmar. In Australia we get and have gotten Iseki for decades I own one and they are great. The thing gets very little maintenance it's 25 years old has 5000ish hours on it and has never given an issue. It's a 55hp compact with a A/c cab something at the time none of the other brands did.
A lot of good information in this video. I tend to think along the lines that you do. A good tractor is only a good tractor if you can get service and value out of your purchase. Every tractor is going to test your patience at times, but on a good tractor that usually means learning and respecting its limits. If you did your homework and researched those limits, the degree of frustration is much lower. Great video!
You pay less up front and you get less back in the back end. You lose 15% on a 20k tractor that is 3k and you lose 30% on a 15k tractor is 4.5k . So to save 5k upfront you lose 1.5k on the backend your still ahead 3.5k. I bought the New Holland Work Master 25s same as the LS MT125 and yes LS only has around 500 dealers but New Holland Has 2200 dealers so you can tap into both dealers for parts. Now for warranty work and support that is major reason I chose NH over LS. Best thing is do your homework find the tractor that will do what you need and what you can afford in your budget plus you must remember to factor in attachments you can spend more on attachments than on the whole tractor. You are right on with this video. In my case I had a Jinma tractor from China. It had loader, backhoe & chipper. I used it for 16 years. It was what I could afford at that time. I had to do many mods to it .Needed lots of spare parts that I had to order in from Texas. Into Ontario always cost must more to land the parts. Had no dealer close by. Had to do all the repairs myself. It did the job but was not smooth with the loader or backhoe. On day I decided I need to upgrade and bought a new Kubota with cab, backhoe, loader and pallet forks. Everything operates so smooth. The backhoe is a 5 minute hook up. My old one was 1 hour. I have a dealer 1 hr. away with service and parts. Enjoy the heated cab in the winter. No more snow in the face and down my neck. The reason I went with it instead of JD was every one else wants the JD. I don't like being like the rest of them and my BX does a get job with grass cutting and I also have a front mount blower with it. Now with the cab B2650 I don't blow snow with the BX anymore even though it has a soft cab. It is a 2018 model has has 220 hours on it. Would not got back now. the dealer has been a great support with info, drawings and any info I have needed. So for me a good dealer close by is the upmost.
Great video. I own a LS MT347 tractor and also a 1520 John Deere. I agree with dealer location but on the flip side the LS is a great tractor. When I purchased it I kept the Deere in mind but LS was the choice because of price point.
Hey Courtney...Did my due diligence in 2015 and settled on the 1025R. I don't regret that choice. That said, I found that all the brands I looked at were decently constructed and reasonably priced machines. Probably would have all done a great job. The 1025R in my estimation fit my purpose the best and gave me the best bang for my buck. All based on my own analysis (albeit some parts subjective) including many of the items you touched on in your video. It is something one needs to do themselves to come to an individual conclusion on what will be best for their own budget and use and situation. Thanks for sharing the great video.
Having local dealers for service and parts are deal makers..driving hours to a dealer sucks. My dad sold John Deere his entire life. The best statement he ever made that I never forgot..."price is soon forgot when quality is long remembered"...I have lived by that !

Another great video! Often times the less "popular" brands have more standard features than the big boys. Rear remotes, bucket level indicators, rear 3PH controls, cruise, etc. frequently are standard equipment. I'm happy that my Kubota dealer is 3 miles away and a great group to work with. Due diligence cannot be overstated! I researched and scoured the internet before I settled on my model. I mentally rehearsed each and every task in my mind over and over again, including transportation and storage. I considered my present needs and my future goals and dreams into the purchase. Did this for 7 years before pulling the trigger.

@@edmunger5595 my kubota dealer kept his price same to have it affordable for customers plus $500 to $1100 off on loader attachments with $20,000 customers instant cash rebate on all M5, M6,M7and M8 series kubota tractors wich pretty good rebate deeres here only gives $1,100 to $2,000 on there big tractors wich i find kinda not much savings

Hey thanks for the video, I always enjoy your videos, I think for the average property owner that maybe operate their tractor once or twice a month almost any tractor on the market will work, but for someone like myself that runs my tractors over 800 hours a year and I have alot of saddle time sometimes seven days a week 14 hours a day running at full PTO speed, for myself it comes down to dealer support and parts availability, I’ve had Kubota and John Deere, they’re both great tractors and unfortunately for me it was my dealer that was the problem for myself so I switched to John Deere I’ve had 2 4066R cab tractors and I ran them at full PTO speed and have had no issues with over 1500 hrs on them, I also have 5065E cab and that’s been an incredible reliable strong tractor with no issues and just recently purchased a 5090E cab, I feel with the hours I put on my tractors and how hard I work them if I had Kubota it would’ve been just as good as John Deere, parts are available and you have a dealer that you like you can’t go wrong with John Deere or Kubota or New Holland, and I think purchasing a used tractor from good works tractor this guy seems like a good honest guy and I would feel confident for anyone looking for a good quality tractor and a used one to contact good works tractor I think you’ll get a good product from this guy and Ive put John Deere and Kubota to the test and I run them hard very hard and they are very well built strong tractors and will always be able to get parts etc. and since it’s so hard to purchase a new tractor these days for example if you order one it could take up to 10 months to get it, I feel for the average guy going this route would be a good idea🚜👍 so purchasing a tractor from this guy with all the aftermarket products he offers I think this is a good route to go. And he’s operated all these tractors and he has enough of them and offers alot of implements for your tractors, I think he can get you set up perfectly for your needs.
Hey, Courtney. Great video. My original dream tractor was the 3033r with the fully loaded factory cab. I went to the dealer all excited only to have my dream crumble under the cost. Finally, I settled on my 2025r with a Tek-Tite cab (the first Tek-Tite the dealer had ever sold). That little tractor has gone out of its way to prove itself time & again and I have no regrets.

Great points. I just bought a 1996 Case 5240 as my first farm tractor. It isn't a value brand but the dealers are not as close as John Deere or Kubota. There are New Holland dealerships though where I can get things if needed. I would add that if you are going to buy a tractor where dealers are not readily available especially for maintenance or parts, be prepared to work on it yourself and shop for parts online. Those tractor forums are handy and do have some great people that can help you.
Im on my 3rd tractor. I started out sub compact then went to a 31 hp compact and now a 40 hp cab. Very large Kubota dealer less then a mile from me. They were the 1st place i went but they would barley even talk to me. I stopped in 3 times and each time the sales guy was busy so i left my info for him to contact me. He never did! So i ended up with a cub cadet (Yamnar made). It treated me very good and i traded it in toward my 31 hp cub cadet (Yanmar). I got older and wanted a cab for the winter so i traded in that tractor on my current LS XR3140 ($28,???) . I could not of afforded the kubota equivlent tractor as it was around 15 thousand more. The Deere was even more then that! And the LS came with more options, like 2 sets of rear remotes. My LS dealer also has the best service i have ever seen from ANY dealer. He was super helpfull in the buying experience, low pressure, great info and just honest. In alot of cases the dealer is more important then brand IMO. Only more time will tell how it all works out but super happy with LS so far.
I went with a Massey. After all the research it is an excellent machine. That was first and foremost on my mind. The quality is every bit as good as anything out there. The reliability and longevity was another selling point. These machines do last! And I have a dealer close by. Also the dealer is a smaller dealer so it didn’t make me think I was just another person coming in the door. I love the JD machines but Massey was definitely the right decision for me.
I have a Massey 1825e and my brother has a equal size JD 3 series and even he admits the Massey is much heavier duty and well built and the Massey was less money. I think grouping the Massey in with Branson and Mahindra, etc is a mistake.
I'm kind of shocked Massey is considered a value brand. I'm not a farmer but I grew up on one and Massey Ferguson was common when I was a kid.
Massey is now built by Agco, but I like it. I grew up on a Massey Ferguson and it was a lot better than the neighbors JD. On many UA-cam videos Massey out works the same size JD.
I chose the Massey Ferguson 2605H over JD because of price and features that came with Massey

I bought a Kubota BX 2680 because my family has dealt with the dealer for over a decade and the dealership is a 20min drive away. If I have any issues or breakdowns they come and pick it up free of charge and drop it off once it's fixed. Can't do that with the "off" brands.
So two major factors why I went Kubota for me, 1) comfort and trust already with a dealer; and 2) proximity and ease of service.
I learned later that the BX has great resale factor and I was super happy about that!!!
I absolutely love my Compact Tym T454 Cab tractor with AC, Heat and Stereo. 36hp at the PTO and Skid Steer Quick Attach. It's a very comfortable beast. I priced Sub Compact JD and Kubota with the same options (and actually fewer features) and was regularly quoted $20k+ more than I bought my Compact Tym for! I have about 100 hours on it now and absolutely nothing has broken. Proper maintenance is the key. Another consideration is that if you just can't budget the next size up tractor that you REALLY want in a JD or Kubota, you can look to the other brands (Tym, Mahindra, etc) and get that bigger size for less than what the 'big' brands want for the next size down.
Always great content very informative. In addition to dealer service ,with name-brand tractors is the availability of parts. That is why you can still go online and find parts fairly quickly for kubota's or John Deere . That may not be the case for other value tractors.

I have compared all the tractors in the 70-75hp range and the LS mt573 is hands down the best value in most every way. The new holland powermaster and workmaster 75 are great options also. If I were to purchase a tractor tomorrow it would be an LS mt573 and I would get it with the R14 tires. Mahindra makes the 6075 tractor and it ain't bad either. Thanks for the videos!!!!
I came to the same conclusion.
I currently own a PowerStar 75. It is the best machine I have ever worked with. Not budget in any conceivable way that I can measure.
After years of research and doing my do diligence I finally pulled the trigger on a LS MT125 with the loader, mmm, and backhoe. It was hard for me to decide on anything but in the end the price did it for me. I was able to get everything I wanted for 2/3rds the price of the equivalent JD. So far I’ve been happy with the purchase, but there always is a little concern when buying something that costs so much. Love the videos!

Love my Kioti dk6010se was about 15k less then comparable Deere or Kubota with same attachments have a dealer for all 3 within 20 minutes
Dealer support is a big one. Dealing with my Kubota dealer has been a total disaster. I purchased a new L6060 this fall and it been a nightmare, and the dealer does not care. It is so rough riding almost every thing shakes on it. When I asked why it was not regening, he said " keep running it and see what happens" , what happened was, it's been sitting in the field for two months where it quit with 43 hours on it. NO more Kubota's for me.
@@blessed7fold The aerial fell off the first day I used it, the horn did not work ( the contacts were dirty in the button) and I had to drill the drawbar so I could connect my trailer ( was 24mm drill to 25mm). The guard constantly shakes ( tightening the pivot bolts did not help. the loader control level constantly shakes, I have to keep my finger on it to keep it from flopping around. The loader quick couplers also vibrates. All of this happens on paved and gravel roads. Later I found no one had checked the oil in the front axle, the level plug was still painted over and it was down over a quart. There are not door switches for the dome light, no 4x4 indicator in the dash, and a lot of empty holes in the right console. The air ride seat I paid a premium, for rides no better than my old spring seat, plus it has no place for the owners manual. It did finally regen at 101% but almost melted the hood in the process. My big worry now is, if kubota has gone this cheep with what you can see, how cheep did they make what you can't see, ie; gears, shafts, seals etc. Plus like I said the dealer did not care when I complained.
I wanted a small tractor for many years but suffered from sticker shock when looking at the JD and Kubota. I started looking at the used market in my area but it was slim pickings. Over a year later I came across a used (3 yrs old) JD1025r with only five hours on the meter for a great price (no loader) but its been great. Just bought a loader for it which will be installed next week. My only regret is not buying a tractor sooner...
The only comparison I've been able to do was between a new holland and a kubota. Both were same year engine transmission. Specs were very close and the kubota felt more powerful. That being said I've heard great things about kioti tractors, I'm looking in to possibly getting one or testing .
This is very interesting to see when in larger-scale agriculture there arent really budget brands most tractors are chosen for power and what there needed for there's not really a budget option and not to mention Kubota doesn't even make tractors for larger-scale ag but there are brands like Fendt that don't support much smaller equipment.
New Holland / CaseI / Massey Feguson / (Are not) budget brands people do not listen to this advice. LS / Kioti / Brandon / are (Budget Brands) The Big Three are JD / NH / Case.
I’ll stick to the bigger brands. Mainly for support years down the road. I can still get parts for my 1986 JD 314 from the local dealer.
Nice tips. And you are certainly correct that prices have gone crazy. I have planned for a while to sell used tractors once I retire from my career gig. Now that time has come, but it sure is difficult to find reasonably priced tractors that I can repair and re-sell. Thanks for sharing. - Rick
One thing to point out about depreciation, if you buy a $75,000.00 John Deere and it depreciates 20% that is a loss of $15,000.00, if you buy a $48,000.00 competitor that depreciations 30% that is also $14,400.00 in depreciation. This was the price difference between the value brand tractor we bought and a comparable John Deere at the time. Doing a quick search it looks like depreciation on that John Deere tractor is anywhere from 18% to 50% so 20% sounds fair. When I searched for the value brands used depreciation it was a lot harder to find used models for sale, what I found though was between a 0% depreciation and 26% we can probably chalk that up to the wonky economy. Anyways my point is that you lose about the same amount of actual cash money in depreciation between the premium and value brands, I'm sure this will very a bit depending on the model/options.

Some people do. If you are making money, you need tax right offs. Take the depreciation, sell to someone like you( with a cash discount).
I bought a Mahindra 35hp last year. Green and Orange were nearly 30% more for similar tractors. I have what seems like a good local dealer that has been in business for decades and that was probably the final point for my decision. I just turned 100 hours and so far has done very well. I do have a standard Skid steer quick attach bucket and that was an important factor. It is harder to find some of the other accessories, but 3pt and QT buckets are totally standard. I also could pay cash for this make where I would have to finance big brands. So far I am happy.

I've got a 2006 New Holland TC40DA tractor, and it's got 835 hours on it now. Overall is been a really good tractor. Only a fuse blew and it was available at my local dealer for next day delivery.
Parts, accessories, and maintenance parts are easy to find. Mostly because New Holland is made by CNH, who also makes Case IH and Krone, etc... parts are mostly the same.
Also the front loder can lift around 2100 lb for a 40 horsepower tractor, although I'm not sure what the manufacturer suggest.
I'm looking at getting a second tractor a john deere 3046R cab.
Not because I've had a bad experience with New Holland, I'm keeping the tc40da. Just want to have a green tractor with a cab mostly.

id spent a year and a half researching what was going to be best for me, the weekend shopping around and getting a feeling of each tractor and wanted to make sure i wasnt getting the buyers remorse after the purchase and down the road....after my finding were complete, the winner was clear on my 2020 1025r for better reliability and use.....sure i could have gone bigger too but i was being practical especially on implement cost and the do's and dont"t down the road....sure id wished id gone with the backhoe on the back now but everything else including the front pallet forks and grapple proved to be so worth having that i could do without now....my tractor is considered my swiss army knife and can do me well....just last week we got 15" of snow here in utah in 1 night, the tractor helped save the day and back pain for me and making a difference for some other folks....sure it's designed to work on land from around an acre and wouldnt suggest anything over 12 acres, but the benifits of owning one this size and it not having a circuit board running it is worth is in the long run....cheaper priced isnt allways better, still happy with the purchase even down the road from when it wqs bought....
I have a kioti ds 4510 and is hover 1000hr of work and only give 3 electrical problems and still works fine is a fantastic tractor
when I went shopping for a tractor earlier in this year I went to the kuboba dealer and ordered my tractor 10 months later no tractor and no delivery date available my dealer told me he had a hundred kabobas on back order, so I pulled my deposit and started looking around for other brands. John Deere was out, just too expensive compared to other brands. I finally settled with the kioti brand tractor had my tractor in 2 weeks. it was about $12,000 cheaper than the kaboba. I don't care about the resale value because when it gets sold I'll be dead. the kioti tractor has been a good tractor for me got 75 hours on it so far
Kioti are good my stepfather has a ck30 from early 2000s still great. I called every dealer when ordered my first new tractor and got a significantly lower quote for a L3301 so waited months but all the dealers had long wait times.
Quote I heard a while back: "You can find a better tractor than a John Deere, but you can never pay more". Farm I grew up on we had Ferguson, IH, Oliver, and AC. I refurbished the 1955 Ferguson this last summer. An AC WD found it's way here for the next project. Many old tractors still have new parts available (even walk-in Tractor Supply stores) and are easy to work on. Priced less than a down payment on a new tractor that also has eighty-four payments. You can spend a lot on mechanic hours at that rate, even if no dealer is nearby ;)

When we were shopping for a new tractor (80 engine hp range) John Deere had the best price. Kubota was $5000 more. Those 2 dealers are the closest to us. Case International/NH was $25 000 more and Kioti was $40 000 more than JD. We found the JD to be more comfortable, laid out better than the Kubota so went with the Deere. Its been a good tractor.
Originally I had decided on a Kubota B2650. Close to when I was about to make the purchase I discovered rural king. I waited another 6 months to research what I could. I could not pass up the standard features and ended up getting a RK55H for a little more than the 2650. Service has been great so far and as long as TYM is around I've got parts. Found alot of RK online groups. The things that would have made the Big 2 better may have been factors in my decision maybe 10 years ago or more but not anymore.
We almost went with a Massy before we decided to order a 3049r. For what we need the tractor for the Massy I feel was the better choice. I like the fact the ran 3 pumps instead of 2 like Deere for example, steer, loader, 3 point all had their own pump and better capacities. We went green simply cause they were closer to the house and I felt the Deere would be more user friendly for the wife and kids then a Massy. Those were the only 2 reasons I went green. The mid pto for a front mount snow blower so while I'm out running the interstates they would have to be turned halfway around to clear the driveway.
I looked at Massey, and it blew my mind how much more it was for a 40ish hp tractor. I looked at used tractor on the classifieds for months, I priced a JB 3039 also. I bought a 3901 with a loader, 4x4, bar tires and a manual transmission. I ordered a Kubota backhoe for it but took 6 months to get thanks to supply chain issues. I’ve had it a year now and I don’t regret buying it new. The bar tires do tear up the yard though.
I'd be interested in what you consider the JD problem child. I have a 3038E. The biggest problem I see with it is the cost of adding options to it (i.e. 3rd function front and rear). I was under the impression when i bought it that because it was the economy model, adding on would be a piece of cake. Other than that, it has been a great tractor.

I'm running an unknown high hours early 80s 4x4 Kubota L2850 a little bit that belongs to one of my land owners to move snow off her driveway. Allegedly the 10k hour tachometer (which functions still) has rolled over multiple times and it has 5.9k on it. The steering is sloppy, it can be hard to find gears because the shifter is loose, but it stays in gear, starts first crank, has all the power it ever had, and it shifts between forward and reverse easy. It's lived it's whole life outside and I'm over all very impressed with how it held up.
I bought a new 2020 Kioti 5310se and I love it. It runs circles around my neighbors JD, my other neighbors LS and the other neighbors TYM.
I had a 2006 Kioti CK30HST prior to buying the 5310 and since it was a good tractor I bought a new one only a little bigger. I had a 3 man sawmill operation and my new tractor gets mistreated and it just takes it like a champ.
I have a LS dealer local in my town. I passed on them because during the pandemic they were unable to keep anything in stock. Also he has been struggling to keep a mechanic. I went with Massey because there's a large dealer that has 5 locations and 2 other dealers that carry Massey all with in a hours drive.
You are 100% on point about leaving the tractor to the kids. I planned on leaving me 3025e to the kids as the first and only tractor I would ever need. Now I’m sentimental on keeping it for that reason but really looking at trading up to a 5065e because I’m thinking about doing more work for money and size does matter in tractors and work capability. Spot on.
I never considered kabota to be premium tractors. I’d consider New Holand to be more premium than Kabota. John Deere and Case-IH are the 2 top tier brand names in my area.
The Kubota and John Deere dealers put no effort into selling me a machine. they seemed to be under the impression that the brand sells itself. The LS and Kioti dealers worked hard to get me what I wanted. I am very happy with my Kioti RX7320, and my dealer.

Good vid! I've had 2 new Kubota and had good service out of them but could not justify the price and longer. I purchased a Branson and it does same thing the kubotas do for half the price!
There are next to none used small tractors in north Florida. John Deere preferred, I can not tolerate Kubota's treadle direction control. I found one 50 miles away and one 90 miles away. The John Deere dealership is ten miles away, I bought a new 1023E.
Dealer proximity and support are important but that changes from community to community. My local area has a Mahindra dealer with John Deere and Kubota no where to be seen.
I Love my 3038E, bucket, forks, grapple, backhoe, post hole digger and box blade. I guess I could love other tractors too!

When I was looking for a 45hp to 60hp tractor I looked at JD first. Series 4 JD no mid pto so that was out. Kubota I didn't like the single foot pedal. Kioti NX series had much more weight than the JD 3 series, had a mid pto, and quite a few premium features. It was also many thousands less. The Kioti I have over 400 hours, no issues and has worked well so far.
HE LIKES THE JOHN DEERE BECAUSE NOT IF, BUT WHEN THEY TEAR UP, YOU HAVE NO CHOICE BUT TO BRING IT TO HIM OR ANOTHER JOHN DEERE DEALER TO BE REPAIRED, SO HE MAKES MONEY ON BOTH ENDS
Weird... Only time I've ever taken my 3 series to JD was when it was under warranty and that meant they did the repair work and transport for free... Ever since then have done any and all repair work on it myself...
After buying 2 John deeres and having hydraulic issue with both and the Dealer couldn't solve the issues,and then recommended that I buy a 4 series was gonna solve the issue,I sold my 3039r model,loved the tractor, but hated the Cavatation in hydraulics, I bought a grand l 4060,love it very good tractor, especially having a Cab,keep up your Awesome work with the channel,LS and New Holland seem like a good tractor, but new prices up in Alaska are very close ,John Deere was 12k more than the Kubota, cab is definitely small in comparison, but a comfortable one,but I prefer room,Merry Christmas
I'd get a small Massey any day of the week, nice durable machines. I have a dealer nearby. I have a Deere dealer nearby but there machines are so expensive
I think number of dealers isn't the only factor. I worked on a large family farm for many years in Northern Indiana. Multi generation John Deere family that bled green. Several John Deere dealers within an hour away. Middle of harvest something breaks and call for help? It would take a few days. That's a long time when you're in the field.
They finally gave the Massey Dealer a shot. 1.5 hours away and the only one around. Call needing something in the middle of harvest? They would be there in a few hours or next day at the latest.
Sometimes the name brands live off of that popularity and the underdog will work his butt off to earn your business. Not always though, definitely consider your own dealer situation based off where you live. After moving to Ohio I bought a Massey and although I like tractor I am unimpressed by the dealer. So my next one may have a different color paint.
John deere has the weird quick attach exclusive to their tractors too...
I never realized how lucky I am to have John Deere and New Holland dealers within 15 minutes of me, and a Kubota dealer that's less than 30 minutes away. I'm on my third John Deere, not because of brand loyalty, but because John Deere happened to have the best financing options at the time I had to buy. My next door neighbor has a Kubota for the exact same reason. One more thing, for some reason the sales people at the New Holland dealer near me never really seem to be interested in making a deal. The other two will negotiate a price, or give a large discount on an attachment if you buy it with the tractor, but the New Holland guys are more like sales clerks who ring up the sticker price and send you on your way. I hope this is only in my area, after comparing the specs online, I was set on a New Holland until I made a visit to the local dealer.

It may or may not turn around next year. If the economy slows down and the manufacturers keep going full bore ,you may see prices come down some.
I have a LS dealer within 3 miles in the last 10 year he sold 5 different brands so next year he may not have LS he is in WILLIAMSTON SC JOHN DEERE IS ALSO HERE 15 YEARS
I was fortunate, or rather cursed to have just about every make of compact tractor within an hour drive of me. When shopping for a tractor I decided on what I needed based on what I was going to use the tractor for and sent out request for quotes to all the various dealers. Not all responded so I crossed them off the list. If they don't have time to answer me when shopping they won't have time for me when it comes time to service the tractor either. Mahindra was the only ten minutes from my house, but their repair bay was always full of tractors being torn apart, a red flag for me. I eventually paired it down between Kubota, John Deere, and Kioti. When optioned out, as close as I could get to the same, Kubota and Kioti were within a hundred dollars of each other with Kioti being higher priced. John Deere was a few thousand more than Kioti. Even so I nearly pulled the trigger on John Deere, but then it come down to their loader quick connect. While there are plenty of aftermarket options for Deere there are even more for skid steer quick attach. I settled on Kioti for purely personal reasons. The seat was way more comfortable than Kubota's and I liked the peddle set up. I also liked that like Kubota, Kioti does everything mostly in house engine and ect. I have been very pleased with the tractor so far, only a 100hours on it. The only problem I've had is the horn only works some of the time.
Case IH has a large dealer footprint. New Holland has a large footprint as well. New Holland and Case IH are CNH products. Parts and service are every bit as available and competitive as orange or green.
If you’ve had good luck and good service in the past, on any product, why change. You’re correct, good local service can make or break any brand.
Before buying a tractor for myself, I got to use a family members LS 3010 and my neighbors Kubota L3901. I ended up with a John Deere 790. Those three arent apples to apples by any means but I would'nt have an issue buying an LS or Kubota. All three worked great for what I needed.
Massey puts Deere and Kubota to shame. The hydro drive systems on Deere & Kubota are very loud. Massey is quiet. Massey’s buckets run up & down faster than the others.

I bought a new JD5055E in 2017 and put 230hrs on it and sold it last month for more than i paid for it. Switched to a Kubota this time as i have a dealer 2 miles away so i can drive it to them for anything i need done to it. Both great tractors and resale is a big benefit, my JD sold in a few weeks. Wanting a factory cab tractor, Kubota had the best choices for the compact market as well.
I have an LS mt347c witch on paper stacks up to the 3046r the features that came standard with it and my local dealer who also sells the JD tractors on another lot is what got me looking then the price difference between. Mine was 27k that was cab loader 3 hydraulic valves suspension seat and skid quick attach the base can 3046r was just shy of 52k that’s half the price

Thank you for doing your videos. As a used equipment Dealer. YES you are so right. The JD dealer is close to my home. Big/lots of NEW JD Equipment on display. The NH is right within a mile from them. I Love the look of the JCB
1 CXT ( easy control) track skid steer. If I was going to buy a NEW small backhoe track loader that machine looks so versatile, the high drive gear on drive, the straight stabilizer/strait to side shift backhoe. Plus everything is JCB built
The biggest problem is the NH/JCB dealer close to the JD dealer is, very low inventory. Not much NEW or used Equipment at Dealer. The biggest NH dealer with lots of Farming tractor in stock. Good well trained shop repair/factory trained people, is about 90 miles from my home
The closest Kabota dealer is about 10 miles south of the JD dealer, so Kabota is close by my home. In the 80s, I liked how Kabota customer wanted a GAS powered lawn mower. So Kabota built one, using there Diesel Engine block. The Diesel mower we bought. Had great power for thick heavy wet grass. Never bogged down mowing wet grass. YES the dealer parts/Repair shops are so important for used Equipment. For that guy who wants a good used piece of farm Equipment, that doesn't know how, or just wants someone else to service or REPAIR it.
After purchase add ons & accessories are a consideration. JD and Kubota have multiple options, it takes more effort to find these for my Massey subcompact. I'd still buy my Massey. Solid tractor, and a great local dealer at a competitive price.

Great video as always with lots of good points! We have been shopping for our first tractor for a about a year now, and am fortunate enough to have many dealer options within 30 miles of us. One question I had is what makes Massey Ferguson considered to be a more budget brand?
I'm a retired Dairy Farmer. We kept several of our smaller Massey Ferguson tractors. We have GC2300 (lawnmower) that my kids banged up. It still runs well. We have a 1230, 1533, and a 2615. All are good machines. I did cut a piece of plywood and a 2×10 for a sunshade on the 1533 and will probably do so for the 2615 too. I think what makes MF a value brand is that you'll get more tractor for the $$. I like my MF tractors.
@@happyjohn8256, I think that the Simpson is essentially a Perkins technology/design. Our GC2300 Lawnmower has 18 HP, 1230 has 25 HP, and 1533 has 33 HP from their Iseki engines. Our 2615 has 50 HP from Simpson engine. They are great little tractors in my opinion
Grew up on a farm with all JD equipment. So, I was going JD when I was looking for a sub-compact. Ended up with a JD 1025R and have been very happy with it. This is a good video of what you should be thinking about when buying. Thanks for putting this video out there.

@@RJ1999x The engine is Yanmar, and they're awesome. They've been in JD tractors for many many years, proven to be one of the best out there. I think the new JD tractors have a diff engine, buy not sure. I know that the Yanmar engine powering my JD2305 has never had a problem, and is 'strong as a bull".

It comes down to service, I have 30 year old jd 445 garden tractors. I can get any part for them in less than a week at any jd dealer, can look up exploded diagram views on line and sell them for almost what the cost new.
It takes money to make a service like that available for your customers.

I have a Deere and there are 7 dealers within 20 miles of home and a parts depot in Milan Illinois is in that range. The dealer support was my concern because of my lack of knowledge.

it all depends on what your using it for . I saved about 8k with buying a rk24 vs a jd. but I only use it a few times a month for loader work.
I have a JD 2038r, my brother is in the market for a tractor. I suggested that he looks into the RK24. Are you happy with yours and does it hold,up,to,the quality of a JD or Kubota?
@@jr88brutus I feel like its a good tractor for the price. The seat sucks but you can find upgrades for that. I mostly use it for loading manure and moving firewood around. The one thing I did discover is if you don't pay cash and finance it through them it will end up being the same price as a Kubota with 0% financing.
I went with the L series kubota. The lift capacity isn’t that great compared to other brands…it does lift high but I rarely need that much lift. I’d rather have more capacity…..that’s my only gripe about the tractor I have. In my area New Holland tractors are actually more than a comparable kubota or JD…my uncle was selling a NH tractor a few years ago.. Mid size tractor (don’t remember the model) he wanted 20k for a 15 year old tractor with 1500 hrs….I got to looking at new tractors and actually saved $4000 buying a new kubota ! Hardly makes sense buying a used tractor especially the way most people treat tractors!

2004 NH TZ24DA gave up the ghost after 15 years. Learned a lot of what NOT to do with a small tractor.. Decided on LS MT125 over the NH WM25S. $4K more for the EXACT same machine. I will say the 2004 is much more heavy duty than these new ones, SMH.. I know this is budget brand to budget brand comparison, but my Lord... I will deal with any dealer issues that may come up. Mine is mainly a lawn mower, DW maintenance, and snow removal. No way paying green or orange money for what I use it for, and after warranty, can use NH dealer and parts...

For context, I am a massive Deere hater. One thing to consider is if you can get along with your local dealership. I used to be a John Deere guy. So was my dad, but a string of consistent bad experiences at Deere dealerships made me go Kubota for my hay equipment. My local Massey dealership is my favorite to work with on my old Olivers. If you are driving up to the dealership, and it looks like it's trying to be a five star restaurant, you won't get any deals or customer service there. They will only want to deal with really big customers and screw anyone else. Just my experience with almost every Deere dealership that I have been to.
Haha, fair points. I can 100% relate with our trucks. I've switched to all Ford because they have the best service department in our area. It isn't even close. I've owned many of all big three truck brands and they all have issues, so professional, courteous, and knowledgeable service sets them apart.

Agree w/your analysis & will be ordering a Kubota. I do wonder if Kubota &/or JD are more likely to cover an issue under warranty than the others? Hard to tell if someone w/a YT Channel might be getting preferential treatment in that regard.
I have an LS MT 225 shuttle shift. The few minor issues I've had so far have been covered under warranty. Currently have a little over 200 hrs and have had for 1-1/2 years.
The only thing I've had to pay was for a service call when it wouldn't start. Come to find out, the clutch linkage was held with a drift pin/cotter pin. The cotter pin apparently got pulled in some brush, then the drift pin fell out. Simple fix that should have been a non-issue, replaced with a nut/bolt with loctite.
Just picked up a 2018 LS MT3 45e (not the HST) with only 63.5 hours, with the loader, 6' galvanized Modern brush cutter, Land Pride box blade, and pallet forks for $16,500. Couldn't pass that up. Anyway, time will tell how well it performs but there aren't many videos or articles about it out there so maybe I'll post a few. But I love the compact design of it and the ratings it boasts. I'm not going to be lifting houses with it but a ton of capacity in the bucket and 1800+ pounds on the 3-point seem like more than enough. I have a dealer close but I can do 95% of any repairs myself. Parts aren't dependent on dealer proximity anymore.
I have a John Deere 5065E on order, it should be here in August and I have no regrets.
Biggest reason I went with a Deere is because of dealer support and the drive over deck I looked at a ls and it was a very close sound place I liked the kabota but when I got my 1 series the bx felt way behind also when I treaded it for my 2 series I already had all the jd quick attach stuff
You should dig into Massey Furguson if you have any chance. They are extremely well built. You might be surprised.

I was looking into and badly wanted to replace my JD1120 with a 4052R but after looking at the 2850M I went that route.
Ergos and cab quality(both 4052Rs had door seals falling off🤷♂️🤔🤦♂️) were big deciders.
I do miss the green in my barn though 🙁
i went for 90 horsepower belarus 892.2. went for it because of its price compared to other similar horsepower and size tractors and second one was how much repair costs and how easy is it to do. western tractors usually cost 2x or more than eastern tractors. not regretting my choice and it goes through tough forest work daily basis and pulls 12 tons heavy forestry trailer really well.
I looked at a belarus about 45 years ago and found that it was very roughly built, however they may be better now. Even then they had some good features, not available on the common brands.
I have purchased 2 LS Tractors new. A 33 hp and a 40 hp. When I compared the LS 33 hp to JD 3032e it was comical. The Deere was 6-7 thousand more. Had way less lift capacity. That Tractor has trouble getting out of it’s own way. Not knocking Deere but in comparison to LS The Deere and Kubota can’t touch LS. Plus they are thousands more money. Just not worth it to me. I run them every day in a successful business I started 6 years ago. I have 3 Tractors. 2 LS and 5045 e Deere. The 5000 series Deere is very unstable. It bounces on 3 tires with material in bucket. If I don’t drop the bucket it will turn over. That’s on level ground. Just being honest. I work them on a regular basis.
I went with massey. They have the beefiest tractor and it was reasonably priced with a good reputation. To follow up, I love it! I bought 50 acres and I am mechanically challenged. I was considering this when picking tractor brands. I’m surprised you never cover Massey Ferguson
As far as features go, Kioti has come a long way in a very short amount of time, especially in the last 2-3 years. Case in point, Kioti Cx2510 vs JD 2025r
I’m looking at getting a Kioti and their dealership is less than 10 miles from me. I know someone with one and they love it.
I started tractor shopping in September, not for a replacement for my B2410, but a larger one for hay work. This time I wanted a cab model. There was a 2016 "new" Mahindra nearby, that I looked at, price wise it was in budget, but after looking it over, listening to the engine, and giving it some thought, I would much rather spend more on a Kubota. Pretty sure the Mahindra would have been a good tractor, but it was light on HP, light on weight, and had more rust and paint fade than my 2002 B2410. It was also LOUD, and the seat was uncomfortable, also the AC took a long time to start cooling.
I then looked at a JD 3046R cab model, but no loader. At the time I was going to not get a loader, but after some thought, realized with the QA on it, I can find a lot more use for the FEL than with my B2410. The price on the JD was $40,0000, 0% for 72. Add another 5-6K for the FEL. After more research, found it was also too light for hay work, so looked at the L4060. For less than the price of the JD 3046R, I settled on the Kubota. After doing more head to head, I would need a JD 4000 series, and those are more like $10,000 more than the Kubota.
As one final option, I looked into the larger Mahindra as I had not ruled them out, and there was a 6065 that fully fit the bill but was well overkill. Price was good, but finance rates made it out of budget. Kubota sealed the deal with a lock at 0% down, 0% interest for 84 months. The thing is, those are the only 3 brands near me. All the rest were 50 or more miles away, no stock available to even look at and test out, and 50+ miles for repairs would be troublesome.
The tractor I ordered is sitting on the lot waiting on the FEL and the rear remote kits to arrive. The kits are due in this month, but the FEL has no updates or ETA whatsoever.
