I think her insecurities came from her parents not talking to her... I never had to ask my mom or ask my friends was I pretty. My parents told me I was pretty, that I was strong and that I can do anything I put my heart into. As you get older you realize you have the good days and the in-between days and bad days. I'm sooo here for SZA.
I can relate and I think you're right about where it comes from, my parents never talked about loving myself or having confidence or even that any of that was important, just like her dad it was only ever about what I was going to DO. So here I am, 26 years old just like her finally single and trying to learn how to be alone and be okay with that
