Hey brother, I just subscribed to your channel. I also have a Pelican Bass Raider and a UA-cam channel. I do have a question. I was thinking about removing the drain plugs in the front and upgrading them. I noticed you added some in the rear. Have you encountered any issues with them?

I prefer white over clear as you can see it is all around. With clear you not always see if sealed fully.

I wonder if I can install them on the front where already has the plugs

I love this idea, but I'm curious how it's working for you? It's a scary thought to drill a hole under the water line.

You're correct about being scary! However, it was a straightforward, quick and easy installation. Would I do it again? Jury is still out because I've not noticed enough water ingress to even drain out and the OEM drains on the front of the Bass Raider pontoons would likely have worked just as well. Good news is there are no leaks after installing the drains.

@@omoutdoors the tipping part of the OEM drains is the hard part / hassle. I'm also wondering why these small pontoon manufacturers haven't engineered a scupper system. Still love the boat, but the kayak industry is much more innovative.

Have you ever considered sealing the seams top and bottom with some kind of sealant? Not taking the boat apart, but just pulling the seam back enough to get a bead of something under it all the way around? I have to admit, I want one of these boats, but this is one of the biggest reasons i am hesitant to buy it. I believe most of the water would get in by rain water seeping in if left outside uncovered, because all of the guys on here who say they keep them indoors have said that they have never had issues with water getting in the pontoons. This kind of boat would sure open up a lot more fishing territory for me, but I don`t know......

Thanks for taking a moment to pass along your comment. I’ve never had to use the drain plugs I installed and in retrospect I would not do it again. They have not leaked, and my boat has not had any water inside. In my situation, I keep it covered with a tarp outside. I am careful to make sure the seams are covered with the tarp, and I’ve had no water in mine, and I’ve used it regularly for over a year. This has been the favorite boat I've owned, John
