You missed a Toronto original. A hot veal sandwich. A classic in Toronto. You’ll find them in every neighborhood and there is also a spot in the St Lawrence market
Along with Peameal Bacon on a Bun, the Veal Sandwich is also a Toronto classic. Someone mentioned California Sandwiches. They make a delicious one but most Italian bakeries also make them as well.
You missed California Sandwiches. When I have guests (with an appetite) come to town I make sure we stop by. Side note, if you want a great cheese steak, skip Philadelphia, PA and stop by California Sandwiches. Of course a loaded (cheese, peppers, mushrooms and onions) hot veal is the house specialty.
I live in Toronto and I have to say that the best cheese steaks are from Marino's on Black Horse Pike in Runnemede, New Jersey, a suburb of Philadelphia. I used to live near it in the 1970s and it's still going.
Booking Toronto next, 3-4 days in Vaughan for wonderland, Toronto city for 2 nights, niagara on the lake for a day and Clifton hill/niagara falls for a day or two then fly back, little bit of everything for the whole family hopefully…🙏🏽🇨🇦🏴
I live near Greektown and it has great food. Also, I think my city is the only city in the world that has two China towns. One on Gerrard Street East and the other but bigger on Spadina Avenue.
in reality , there a pockets of chines restaurants/grocery stores etc all over town, ie many places in scarborough including pacific mall, missuauga has a china town , markham also has many locations
@@albertc136 We all know that but speaking to someone from that culture who never been here, you're not exactly going to send them out to Scarborough lol.
Hey Wolter you should eat Serbian food in Toronto. - cevapi (bit sized sausages or kebabs grilled to perfection in soft bread smothered with chopped onion, cilantro and red pepper sauce. Best restaurant is Three Brothers in Toronto.
As a Torontonian, what most Americans fail to realize is that Minnesota, Michigan, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and New York are all south of Toronto. If you're worried about the cold dress like you would if you were going to Michigan.
As a former Torontonian, Mill St brewery is NOT a “local” brewery. They are owned by Labatt brewery, who I believe are part of some big beer conglomerate. REAL breweries include Big Rock, Black Oak, Junction, Woodhouse, Left Field....just to name a few. You’re welcome
@@kevin6588 I’m from the maritimes and when I lived in TO 10 years ago, Amsterdam was my go to. I loved their Big Wheel. I visited the brewery last year and was so disappointed in the service and the food. The beer was still great though. I’ll definitely try Mill St when I am there in May! 😊
Toronto has an incredible craft beer scene as well! Downtown you have craft beer bars such as Bar Hop, C'est What, Bar Volo, and Beertown that have a bunch of hard-to-find beers on tap. Plus you have breweries such as Steam Whistle, Amsterdam, Northern Maverick, and GLB Brewpub (Great Lakes Brewery's downtown restaurant). In the East End, you have Rorschach Brewery, Godspeed Brewery, Black Lab Brewing, and Left Field Brewing all within a short drive of each other. In the West End, there's Bellwoods, Bandit Brewing, Henderson Brewing, Blood Brothers Brewing, and True History Brewing. Yet everyone goes to Mill Street or some other generic place.
@@thefozzybearthere’s a very large Portuguese community in Toronto, with excellent pastel de nata. Seara, Nova Era, Doce Minho and Caldense are all great, and can throw down with pastry shops in Lisbon (minus the $1000 airfare).

I can't count the number of micro brews here. Tibetan and Somalian food is around, as well as fusion, like Hakka, amongst others. On the negative: you showed a shot of Hoops, I wouldn't recommend it for wings.
Toronto seems a bit disappointing in that there's nothing truly iconic about it and exciting to try like Montreal Smoked meat, New York pizza or Philly cheesesteaks
The Toronto-Niagara region is the NUMBER 1 destination for international tourists to Canada. Yes , this is a FACT. We beat out the Rockies , Montreal and Vancouver. Imagine that . Come visit. See for yourself.
Born and raised Torontonian here. Peameal is a part of Toronto's history of being a major pork producer in the early 1900s. (If youre curious, the Stockyards at St Clair and Keele was a huge part of that). Its where the nickname 'Hogtown' for the city comes from. Peameal bacon was created in Toronto.

No one here really cares about the rubbery / low in flavour peameal bacon sandwich. Best Chinese food you need to go to suburbs such as Markham for high quality fare. Smoked meat not much going on in Toronto. Montreal. Plenty of quality micro breweries. Mill Street more of a corporate chain. Their organic lager tastes like waters down pee. Excellent ethnic food selection to chose from neighborhood to neighborhood…. Again, avoid the corporate chains.
