I think many people forget how much or why they loved beyonce because its easy to call someone overrated when they decide to stay in the industry for sooooooo long AND not keep true to the OG sound that made them famous (in this case rnb) but fact remains, whilst people call this women overrated or complain about the massive fanbase of hers, the new generation keeps looking for her replacements lmao despite disliking her lol. Beyonce proves over and over again why she is such a great performer. She is only of the lasts mainstream artists left that would still be famous if we still lived in radio times because she brings TALENT and not looks alone
I love how Tems, Ayra, and Tyla are showing that there's no need for rivalry….. In this age where fans are used to pitting super talented artistes against themselves, it’s so refreshing to see these queens always giving positive vibes and celebrating themselves
Blk people need to stop the unnecessary comparisons, debates, and negativity. They’re all wonderful - Beyonce, Janet, Tyla, etc. Please leave your own people TF alone.
There isnt anything to compare other than influence. In the younger generation Taylor Swift is definitely more influential, that being said talentwise the two can NEVER be compared. Taylor Swists rise to stardom in the mainstread media is mostly because of the new representation she brought. Back then the mainstream scene consisted of mostly racially ambigious black women and a few white brunettes lmao. Yound, Blonde, Blue eyed AND Country? Yup people were going to vibe with it.
So everyone else in the industry is ugly and mean? Be for real. Some Black Americans disliked her because of the whole colored ish. Nobody cares that she is pretty, confident and nice. Its a shame she fell for the whole thing and is now lying about being a black woman but hey thats the american music business. The people obsessing over the whole Tems, Tyla and Ayra ish are mostly africans and mostly due to the tension between south africans and west africans.
As a South African living abroad I’m just happy to walk into a club/event and hear African artist. There was a time when that wasn’t a thing and only a select few had that worldwide outreach, now it’s not just a handful and it makes us feel at home when we are very far from home.
@@ilovelife3328 Sorry but unless americans learn what true Amapiano is,Uncle Waffles will never be mainstream in america. Uncle Waffles could have been the face of Amapiano, she was already bigger in South africa than Tyla, but she isnt because she does ACTUAL Amapiano. Amapiano isnt the music Tyla does despite it being marketed that way. Amapiano is closer to housemusic than ANY other american genre and well house music is already not that popular in America, its more of a mainstream genre in European countries.
@dehititih7571 Yes, I agree. I grew up listening to Baltimore House music (a regional favorite in Maryland/DC) so I think that’s why I took to Amapiano so easily when I first discovered it but a lot of Americans aren’t familiar with that particular musical sound so it may sound too “foreign” their ears. I haven’t been too successful with getting people I know to embrace the genre to be honest along with other regional music I enjoy such as GoGo music (DC) or NOLA Bounce music. I find Amapiano to be so energetic and uplifting to the spirit though. It’s become of of my favorite genres to listen to daily! Chris Brown’s collabs with Nigerian musicians had a HUGE hand in popularizing Afrobeats in America and I think it would take for some AA artists to collaborate with the likes of artists like Uncle Waffles to properly “break/introduce” this sound to American ears.
Many are envious of her beauty and talent plus they hate to see an unapologetically confident woman from an African country being proud of her culture and not relegating or diminishing it for Western culture.
I know! It’s so weird lol 😆 like the things people are mad at her about don’t even make sense. And she’s so sweet and talented and I love and adore her ❤
I don’t care how beautiful people perceive Tyla to be. Africans have proven disrespectful to black Americans. Her fanbase will remain mostly African and that’s fine. Let her people make her famous…her popularity with black Americans will be short lived because we do not relate to Africans.
11 subpar ⚪️ girls can be popular all at once but let a few super talented, dedicated and outstanding black pop girls in and there can only be one?! God get me off of this planet
That has always been the agenda in America. Divide and conquer so that the Culture implodes from the inside out, with everyone pitted against each other instead of standing together to form a mighty fist. That has always been the biggest fear of the citizens in a racist society who know they have much to atone for and are terrified of the Karma that IS coming. The hope is that the Culture will be destroyed before that happens but God has other plans for his Chosen Ones. Fight the programming. Fight the powers that be.
It’s giving Tyra Banks vs Naomi Campbell. Ppl in the 90’s acted like there couldn’t be more than one amazing Black supermodel and they’re doing the same thing in this case as well
The body shaming is crazy to me .Some people wish they had Tyla’s flat stomach .The image and body shaming is crazy .She is petite and that’s just her body .Like leave the girl alone bruh. The same people talking are the same ones wishing .
She is skinny with a nice body like coleray. I don't see what people see, I've been around for a long time, I've seen beautiful women come and go in this industry. One thing i know, when you come in wearing no clothes, you stay with no clothes. If you demand you wear clothes you are no longer needed in this industry. Tyler can sing and dance, its a shame.
Props to YOU Empressive for giving Ciara a shout out as 1 of the best performers because she truly is and has BEEN since she came out. She doesn't get the same stages as Beyonce maybe due to the politics of the industry and the team behind her, but I respect you for always being unbiased and REAL!
While I agree Ciara’s a great dancer, she doesn’t have the charisma and grace. Performances aren’t about just being a great technical dance. It’s about the soul within the dance, the storytelling, the vulnerability, femininity etc. Beyonce brings all of that to the table and more (MJ did as well). Ciara also seems to only excel in Hip-Hop street dance. She doesn’t seem yo have range. While Beyoncé has given us from Hip-Hop street dance, to Contemporary dance, to Arabian belly dance styles, to various African dance styles. Beyonce created signature walks, signature stances, signature hair flips, signature facial expressions, signature entrances. Ciara doesn’t seem to have any signature or be known for any or as many as Beyonce. Also, but most especially, Beyonce is a vocalist-entertainer who can also sing incredibly well live while dancing, which seems to fascinate people a lot. Ciara is an average singer who can’t hold a tune live talk-less of when dancing. So she’s not in the same ballpark as Beyonce. These are the reasons I think Ciara doesn’t compare. She’s a great dancer and the female equivalent of Chris Brown (in my opinion) but she simply doesn’t have the full package to be classed a great entertainer or be compared to MJ the way many people compare Beyonce.
@ I’m not doing a stan comparison of artist with you! I stated how i feel & agreed with Empressive, do your homework on the Legend that is Ciara. She does not have the same vocal ability, facts. Janet doesn’t either. Ciara had for years poured her heart into her performances there’s a lot you can research. & Beyoncé is mainly a “hip hop style dancer” anybody can see that. I said what i said you don’t have to see it for Ciara and “nit pit” what influence/signatures she had and don’t have cause it’s there and been. The people that see it, do & will continue to! And KNOW she deserves more than she receives and deserves to be put on major platforms just like other artist!
@@squarcircle2254you are out of touch with Ciara. Her first video goodies included a signature move. To me she's a better performer but she doesn't have all the theatrics or the budget. Beyonce has a very big budget to go over the top. But I feel usher Ciara Janet usher and Chris brown are better performers as they come up with their own moves.
I love how you took so much time to shout out all of the great performers that are out there! A lot of the new artists out haven't really gotten their stage performances together and some of them seem to not care to but the industry still has more than a few top-tier performers doing their thing!
@@XxiliketwinkiesxXidw why her pathetic fans always talking about "hate" when smbd disagree with you Not everybody has to love her witchcraft, without Sasha she would be nothing ya know?
Ciara as a performer should be revered more. Her stage prowess is dynamic to say the least. She can arouse a crowd not only by breaking out into an intricate, footwork-heavy 8-count but she can also stand firm and still on stage, crooning out her ballads, and command the same level of attention. Love that you recognize her greatness in performance.
Nah. Ciara is a great dancer. But she’s just like JLo. And frankly Jlo might be better. She’s so pretty and always looks good. But there’s a reason that, for all her comparisons to Janet, Ciara is never in the discussion for “best performer alive.” She’s almost boring.
I love the fact that Tyla clapped back these people need to leave that girl alone plus they trying so hard to pit Ayra against Tyla but it will never work. NEVER I also believe they Ayra is very much a Rihana fan she must’ve been watching all her moves and stuff.
Tyla's body is perfection, her beauty ethereal, she got natural rhythm, talent, good work ethic, stage presence, captivating personality, some people just jelly.
@LUX_8 It's easy to say that from afar, alot of people cannot stand on a stage and do what she does, there millions of girls who look like Tyla but can't do what she does or blowing up. She doesn't need to be the best voice, she puts in the work, was awarded best singer and actress in her high school, long before she blew up, this girl always had potential and is more than just another pretty face.
You have to watch it once for the emotional experience and then again to breakdown all the moving parts 🙌🏾 And then a third time to keep your eye on what Blue Blue is doing
I guarantee everybody that's complaining, can't sing nor dance as good as her or at all😅.And we already know that they don't have looks that could compare 😅

She shared her opinion, which is that Chloe, along with other artists she listed, is a good performer in her own right. How does she "not belong in this group project"?@@blackculturematters1404
Because people have different perceptions of what is attractive to them. African, Caribbean and even Blk American men are generally not into skinny women. He shouldn't have body shamed her but let's not be culturally dense. It's no coincidence that Tyla is heavily admixed and has that shape. Most Blk women don't phenotypically look like her nor have her body proportions. She looks good on her, but her shape isn't the cultural standard amongst Africans and others mentioned.
Exactly her body is perfect imo, and that’s just it an opinion we all have one. lmao if it isn’t exactly what you are attracted too then move on and keep it pushin!! No need for the critics, the comments or the negativity. People just love to hate. SAD

Ayra is Nigerian, and Tyla is South African. Although they are both African, the 2 countries have different culture and sound. People are so DUMB because if you are musically tuned.. you will know they are completely different. And you know all these negative comments are our own black people. Beyoncé really is the best performer alive. I saw her during the Renaissance tour and she was worth it! She gave amazing live vocals, beautiful visuals, great choreo, and even gorgeous outfits too! Her energy is always top notch. Her Halftime performance was amazing. I love how she brought out multiple artists who featured on Cowboy Carter. You can see the passion in every detail. She learned from the greats like Michael Jackson and Tina Turner.
both ladies were inspired by the great singer and dancer and very beautiful Tshala Muana, look her up . she was the Queen of a Mutuashi dance and a Muluba babe.
People can continue to try to take down Beyonce (the greater Pop Star in Black Culture since Michael) but still she continues to Shine. Love to see it. Stay mad, haters. 😘
People that don't like Beyonce aren't Haters, I'm not a fan because her music don't move me. Her music sounds the same. Now, Pink, Lady Gaga, Rhianna Kendrick, Jill Scott and others, that's music to my ears and soul.
At this point so many people dont like Beyonce because shes a beautiful black talented woman. I am not a fan nor worshiper of hers as i dont believe in the idolizing of anyone. The worship of her is actually very sickening. But that doesn't mean u can ignore her talents and that she is not an elite performer because she absolutely is. Nobody is michael jackson, but can u mention her among the greats like Michael Jackson.....absolutely!
Some people may dislike Beyonce because you say she's because but most people simply don't like her for other reasons. She ain't no Kelly Roland and she just don't sound good to many including myself. She just don't do it for a lot of people and that's okay because no one is loved by everyone and the only one that should be loved by everyone is Jesus Christ! I enjoy Janelle Monae, Jill Scott, Missy Elliot, Kelly Roland, Rhianna, K.Dot, Pink, Lady Gaga and others, but I sure as hell don't call people HATERS because they have a different opinion then mine. What's wrong with folks these days?
I’ve never considered myself the biggest Beyoncé fan and I probably never will be but I always learn to give credit or credit is due rather if I’m a fan of a musical artist or not. When it comes to longevity, stage presence, consistent body of work and impact… Beyoncé checks all of those boxes. Would I consider her to be the greatest life performer ever? I mean she’s definitely in conversation but yet you have others like Michael Jackson, Prince, Madonna, Mick Jagger, Freddie Mercury, Lady Gaga and so many more to name so it’s gonna be hard to get a definitive answer to that question.
Well part of your list is dead like we comparing her to dead artist let that synch in and the rest of yo list no shade them white artist not touching her and I love gaga but no
Tyla is the one that copied Ayra Starr. It’s just that Tyla blew up first commercially. Ayra was out way before Tyla dancing like this. It’s y’all that’s just now paying attention.

Right. Tyla has mainstream appeal and benefits from societal colorism and favoritism. However if you say this, you are a hater. There is absolutely nothing new about what she does.
Doja cat and doechii are the only gen z artists eho can truly dance well, sing well, write and compose their own hit music and dont need choreography and 40 dancers behind them to make their performance look good.
I genuinely don’t like that because the reality is Nigeria and south Africa have a love hate relationship… the dance is South African per se but black people and waist movement are so rooted doing any dance that involves it is next to second nature and the last thing Ayra is ever gonna be is a copycat these people need to calm down

Beyonce is the best female performer alive today. What makes Beyonce still stay relevant and mainstream to this day is the fact that she isnt basic. She performs and sings as if she was ugly. Old mainstream artists were famous for having the whole package. Its not hard to be a good singer, its hard to be GREAT singer. Older Generations come from a time were it was all JUST about the vocals or dancing ability. In this generation its ALL just about the looks. People will hype you up and call you iconic, or pretend like youre the best singer or artist in the world if you are pretty. Beyonce could easily decide to be a basic performer but she still bring those crazy vocals and dancing skills to the stage every single time. People can hate all they want but one thing they cant do is EVER call her overrated considering the people we make famous, icons or mainstream TODAY
If Beyonce looked like Kelly Price or Fantasia; they’d be calling her underrated. That’s really the messed up part. They can’t come at her looks, her singing, her image as a whole so they just say “she’s overrated” with no reason. Jealousy is real. I get why white people do it. Just never understood why black people do it too.
@@lancomenyongo7346 people also forget she has an ORGANIC fanbase cultivated over 2 decades. Many of today’s artists just have followers online. @@lancomenyongo7346 whats funny about the whole worshipping comment is the fact that the ONLY reason people are "worshipping" her is because we keep making people famous and hyping them up just for being pretty. If we kept the same high standards we had in the 90, meaning if we ONLY made people famous who had CRAZY talent (AMAZING singing skills, AMAZING dancing skills, AMAZING performers AND Original) instead of making them famous for looking pretty, then we wouldnt be "worshipping" her because she would be around MANY that are just as talented as her AND mainstream. Tyla has features and body that fits every cultures preference. I’m sorry that’s just the facts.
You know, I’ve been watching Empressive from South Africa for years, and I must say I really appreciate that you include well researched and referenced African pop culture. I also appreciate your efforts in making sure you know the distinction between Nigerian music/culture/artists and South African music/culture/artists ❤. It’s really offensive when Americans group it as one thing. It’d be like if Nicki Minaj and Taylor Swift got classified as R&B just because they’re American. 😅
It's not offensive when people pretend like music category and ethnicity is the same thing. Tylas mainstream music is not amapiano. The songs that made her viral in the US are indeed more afrobeat, american and Caribbean influenced than amapiano. I don't know why people are so.despetately trying to dilute and erase what amapiano is just to get recognition in the US. Nobody can tell me Uncle Waffles and Tyla make the same kind of music
@KB.23 water literally has less than a teaspoon of Amapiano in it. It has more rnb and afrobeats in it than anything. Same with jump that I would even argue has more Caribbean influence. Same with push to start, Same with literally all her mainstream songs that have all been produced by the same nigerian. People are tone deaf when they call that amapiano and rnb and if afrobeat and afrobeats weren't nigerian genres, nobody would be trying to hide these facts. Dancing Barcadi to every song isn't going to change the musics genre. As someone to loves uncle Waffles and Samthing Soweta, I think it's kinda insulting how far people go to dilute and erase the genre

I think people are so quick to compare Tyla and Ayra instead of understanding they’re friends. You’re going to have similarities in mannerisms and interests with your friends. They’re around the same age, both African and make music. They’re going to overlap
I get why you are saying, but Arya and Tems are also confident African women, and we have to be honest about Tyla stans. Sometimes, when they speak, you can hear the xenophobia and racism in their voices. On X/Twitter, Tyla was body shamed by that irrelevant man, and instead of dragging him, tell me why the next day... Tyla fans start bodyshaming Tems and Arya .
Tyla's nationality is African. Right? However, why does she skate around issues involving race and ethnicity? Either way, she's more hype than substance.
The way I think of Stan’s are like children who think nothing in the world existed before they were born. Like how does a whole TYLA invent a dance style and think no one else has ever done it before or can ever do it again. 😂😂😂
I remember you made a video saying Beyoncé wasn’t a legend yet it was around 5-6 years ago… I will say in this age she’s definitely one of the longest running entertainers of modern day artists she’s on her way not a lot of artists last over 4 decade eras
Exactly…I remember that as well. Or even her hating on this album and totally ignoring the vocals, history, meaning, arrangements, etc… it was purposefully ignorant of its greatness. This is why real talent and determination will always humble the haters. Keep pushing forward black women ❤
This platform coddles mediocrity. It’s a generational thing. They like relatable weak vocals they can follow along with. Not special voices. That’s why she’s always d eating Chloe. When all along it was Halle with the unique sound.
The reason why there is a comparison is because Arya Starr is well-known in Afro beat. Tyla came out with water even though she was already working on her own music. Tyla is known in South Africa but Arya Starr is known within the West African world along with Afro beat, the two ladies did a collaboration and somehow Tyla took off. So to me there is a bit of colorism and that's the reason why us West Africans especially those that listen to afro beats a lot are advocating for Arya Starr. Tyla does more pop with South African influence and Arya Starr is Afro beat with pop influence. The two want to be more mainstream, but it comes off as though one is able to do it more easly than the other 🙏🏿🇬🇭🌍🤎🙏🏿
I don't think it has anything to do with the colour of their skin. My take is that Tyla blew up because she's bringing something new to the table. Amapiano is a new thing and she took advantage of that and created a unique sound for herself. Not forgetting that, she can dance almost all the dances associated with that genre. She created something fresh and unique, hence people became curious and wanted to know more about her. And she has one of the most hard-working teams. When it comes to Arya, there are many Afrobeats artists out there. Afrobeats has been around for quite some time. People have already seen Tiwa, Tems and others before her. So it was never going to be easy for her because of that.

Beyoncé’s style of performance art just isn’t everyone’s cup of tea. I personally enjoyed it, but it depends on what the individual values in a performance. It’s subjective.
I agree. It’s all about personal preference. I appreciate her work ethic but I was never drawn to her music. Doesn’t make me a hater, just not my cup of tea. God made us all different. But all the best to her!
Ayra is really THE IT GIRL💞 of Africa bc her sound says AFRICA easily… They’re just different Tyla is literally Paula Abdul but she sings songs!! She is far from SA sound and that working against her outside of SA. SA music can be driven sooo much further! More than amapiano just harmonies in general. Tina Turner these are My Standard So I knew how Beyonce came about from Destiny Child saw how she evolved and changed over the years not impress at all by her evolution she's alright but not great in comparison.
Different types of performers with different sounds and styles. Also, your critique is disingenuous because each of those artists received criticisms ranging from Whitney's lack of dance moves, Janet's weak voice. Prince's feminine ways, etc, etc.
I agree... However, there were a few ladies in the past that were far superior to Beyonce in vocals and dance training: Liz Minnelli & Goldie Hawn did a tv special back in 1980 that feature a song and dance from the musical Chicago (LIVE singing and dancing) Shirley Maclaine also did a tv special showcasing her ability to sing and dance. These woman are trained tech dancers. Beyonce is good, no doubt but I wanna see how she does without all the backing tracks and enhanced mics while still dancing and performing. I'm tired of seeing Bey do Tina Turner.
Twigs isn't really a Pop artist as such. She's more alternative and into the Art more than anything else. She's not in the same category as any of these women, she's not mainstream like that.
I bet it's US AMERICANS that think ole girl is copying Tyla! Not knowing the dance itself can be SEEN by A WHOLE LOT of females doing those dances!!! No ONE performing these dances ARE ORIGINAL!!! Tyla is NOT the signature of African Culture Dances!!!🙄
Ayra copies more than just tyla dances moves.and I don't know why because she is a.very talented artist in her own right.but for some reason she seems to e doing a lot things Tyla does.maybe it's because of how big Tyla became in the US?I HONESTLT DONT KNOW WHY
Yeah but that particular way of shaking hips and the exact choreo went viral with Tyla. I've followed Arya and never seen her do that. But that's ok lots of entertainers have been doing it since. From Khelani, Sweetie to Kpop singers. It's fun, also like how the world now does some hip hop moves or the Shaki. It's ok to be inspired.
This sounds like what Wyte people say when they gaslight us tbh. If the Bacardi is a South African dance, then don't diminish that. Ayra Starr DID do that dance which is Tyla's signature move and a dance from her country. Don't pretend like it's something else. There is a reason why whenever Beyonce performs, the conversation about who the best performer always comes up......and I think there is a difference between a dance performer and overall performer...dance ,stage command , vocals, range....come on Beyonce ticks all those boxes
I really do not understand ppl’s problem with Tyla nor do I understand why the fans want it to be an issue between her, Ayra & Tems. They’re all gorgeous & they’re doing their thing.
Beyonce's performance was good but not epic, in my opinion. Most of Michael Jackson's performances were epic. No matter if it was live or, in his videos. Michael would do dance moves and choreography that could not be done by the average person. Beyonce dancing and choreography is good, but it can be done by the average person. Also, Tianna Taylor is a really great performer, but she got shut out, like a lot of others have been. Only certain ones are allowed to be showcased and allowed to shine.
Ayra star brought tyla out for afrochella and then kinda copied her brand ever since so africa has a histroy that we don't have. But ayra been bigger than tyla for a while so the idea is tyla took her style. Ayra has been doing the water dance long before water

I wish Uncle Waffles would blow up in America too. She’s so amazing and criminally underrated!!! Coming from an AA who LOVES Amapiano! 😍
Reading this honestly makes me so happy for yall❤
@@ilovelife3328 shout out to Uncle Waffles!
People keep trying to humble Tyla everywhere she goes it’s so weird. She hasn’t done anything wrong and she’s very talented.
Many are envious of her beauty and talent plus they hate to see an unapologetically confident woman from an African country being proud of her culture and not relegating or diminishing it for Western culture.

She is my fav!
However that is just not the case. Whenever she performs I am newly reminded of how low quality todays mainstream artists are.

This platform coddles mediocrity. It’s a generational thing. They like relatable weak vocals they can follow along with. Not special voices. That’s why she’s always d eating Chloe. When all along it was Halle with the unique sound.
@mileenakhan4778 Oop! 😂
Halle is nothing special compared her sis the difference is Disney the small sis got that opportunity
