@@atsaatsa6745 not really, its just a preferance besides its only in fei"s hometown. she said taecyeon will be huge in the north because they love dark skin.
It's called a joke. Because let's face it, as much as we don't want to mention it, it's obvious suzy is the most famous member in Miss A, and got the nickname "nation's first love" in Korea. So he just took this male generalization of what people thought and made the joke. Also if you notice, after that joke introduction, they NEVER mentioned Suzy again or compared Fei to Suzy, or asked questions about Suzy to her. They had specific individual questions just for Fei.
Jeehoondevil the fact is,they shouldn't mention Suzy every time a member of Miss A is on a show. I love Miss A and all the members but tbh are more talented then Suzy, she's the "face" of the group that's why she's every where and honestly it's gotten pretty annoying. it's like Miss A is Suzy and her backup dancers
Mewmew zoey Luckily other members of Miss A are getting more popular now as well. For example Fei's been appearing in a lot of variety shows and CFs. I wouldn't compare who has more talent as they each have their own talents in different fields. Also some people may refer Miss A like that because Miss A hasn't released an album in a while. It happened with 4minute too. 4minute used to be called Hyuna and her backup dancers as she had gotten popular through bubble pop and gangnam style. But they've been releasing a lot of albums and all of them are well known now.
It's because Taecyeon doesn't cook at all so he wants to learn some things ^^ (Even though he's great at cooking, the people on the show "Roommate" LOVED his cooking!!!^^)
Apink Pinkpanda actually he cooked a lot at dorm, since he moved to his parents house he dont do it so much, but still do it in other TV show called 3 Meals a Day.
i can't believe that Fei's brother didn't know about her career in Korea as a member of Miss a and just found out recently!!! for me it's hard to believe ...
When they're close to you, you care less lol, especially at that age. He probably knew she was doing something like that but had no idea she was even famous, especially considering it's a foreign country.
This episode was funny as hell, every time Park Jun-gyu opened his mouth you knew you were gonna laugh soon haha. Also, I learned that Taecyeon is a cool dude, had only heard of him until now. Lastly, if you're fair you can tell the people in the episode were merely exchanging experiences without judgment. You can't talk about large groups of people without generalizing, that's only the nature of the beast. Personally I love how these themes are introduced on Korean TV, as it creates awareness for the people on TV and the viewers, which is the first step in learning about other cultures.
wow didn't even realize there was a race "issue" with the show till i read the comments. i'm black (literally an african who grew up in america" and found no offese. people get offended when black stereotypes are even mentioned yet i bet we(black folks) have had our fair share of asian stereotypes). nothing was said in bad taste or to hurt anyo
i'm glad you feel this way and aren't offended ^^ most people that feel like it's offending aren't even the "targets" of the alleged offense :O i'm happy you could just enjoy the show, i think this episode was really funny hehe :3
Jeonsa(전사) Yeah, I'm a black American and I didn't find anything offensive. Nothing was meant to hurt anyone. He was just saying how it was when he was living there.I have been around groups of black people and they all sit and generalize and talk about people such as Asians, saying nothing but stereotypes, because they really don't know any better since they have only been around a few Asians or whatever the situation may be. So, the same here.
Ugh I hate it when whenever someone brings up missA it has to relate to Suzy the mcs really got to my nerves, the group doesn't just revolve around Suzy ok?-.-
I would usually agree except for this time they literally only mentioned her once in the beginning for the entire show so stop whining and go watch something else then

This episode reminds me my friends and I, talking about our different cultures. It's very interesting to learn why in some countries they do that whereas we do in another way... Open your mind to the world and you will find that the world is a beautiful treasure!
to anyone worried about the racism and stuff in this episode: it's kind of just an asian thing. you'd find this similarly in china and other countries. if you find yourself getting mad, just try to remember the mentalities of americans towards asians during jungyu's time because that's how it was and it's what he's used to. asians in general like lighter skin and more house-wife-ish women. it's just a culture difference and i'm sure they don't really mean all of what they say (or at least they're not saying it with bad intentions), since this program is mainly for laughs.

All of the conversations revolved around revealing and contrasting cultures without passing normative judgments about which was better. AutumnByakko Can't agree w/you more on that point. It's like you can't talk about real cultural differences at all these days without people getting upset about it. There are cultural differences in the world, and if you don't know about them then you may offend someone.
Taecyeon was literally describing Jessica and Tiffany when he was pointing out who he wanted to marry. A Korean woman that speaks Korean, English and a little Japanese. Lol. Although a few others would fit the equation as well.

This was hilarious episode! I guess it really depends on the guests whether this is enjoyable to watch or not cos I've seen some of these before and I didn't find them that good. But this one was awesome!
Just thought I'd make a comment about treat each other out to eat in the States, I think it also has to do with not wanting/ hesitating to pay someone back. If you say you'll treat the next time, it feels a bit like a debt that's meant to be repaid. So it's not so much of lack of gratitude all the time (:
+sungmi kang Okay I actually took the time to find it for you. Its at the 27:47 mark where the old guy is talking about how people thought he was a math genius and the old lady replies that americans are amazed that koreans memorize the multiplication table (except that most people do that in elementary school they're just generalizing) Next time watch the video before trying to imply something.
To me, it didn't sound like they were saying that Americans don't know the multiplication table. They just said that Koreans are better at memorizing it because of the way Koreans say numbers.
i agree with Fei the Korean people they are wonderful i have great friends when we meet first they are amazing to me and also each other god bless you guys and live happily after
I didn't think there was any racism involved, guys. Why are you sensitive/quick to misinterpret their words? I think they were having an interesting discussion, learning about others' cultures. There wasn't anything spiteful or racist in their comments. They were simply curious about certain aspects of foreign cultures. You can fault them for being too ignorant but not being racist. Please chill guys. Yeesh.
As an American kid born and raised I have to say this is nothing but stereotypes and sorry if they had bad experiences but that does not give them a reason to make fun of or disrespect other cultures. And I know it's just a show but I was slightly offended. Maybe too sensitive
I get what u mean. It's kinda hard to watch when most of what they r saying doesn't sound that great. And honestly though I feel like if the wheels were turned and an American had a bad experience in Korea they probably would react similar. Because I feel like as humans we just all jump to conclusions way too fast and think that our own experiences r the only type of experiences.
I understand what you mean since I'm a Korean American and I've been in America all my life but the Korean part of myself knows that Korean humor is different than American humor. What Koreans find funny and entertaining may be offensive in America since the cultures are different because what's politically correct in Korea is different than America. Also some of the translations weren't all correct. I was also offended at some of the comments they made too but that's just for entertainment purposes.
+lovelaughsmile1000 You're absolutely right. Especially in this day and age, we shouldn't be generalising and stereotyping, particularly about race and culture. Korea has a way to go in that respect. But then a lot of Western cultures need to consider their own actions as well. Respect has to go both ways. There's still an attitude in Western countries that it's okay to stereotype Asians (especially saying "it's all the same") when it's actually really offensive. I was born and raised in Australia under really Westernised influences, but it's still offensive to me, because yes, you shouldn't treat people differently because of the way they physically look (racially), but at the same time, you shouldn't completely ignore their heritage and culture either. Westerners see it as a joke when they make fun of Asian cultures and stereotype, but take it extremely offensively when they find out Asians are doing the same to them. We could all do with a bit of perspective and a bit less stereotyping.
That is really true and I agree but i also think it's not saying everyone is like that but it just seems as if both sides can do a little less of the stereotype thing.
This was hilarious. I really enjoyed it. Taeyceon and John Park are very handsome. It was so funny because you could tell he was uncomfortable when they were swearing. And Miss A's Fei was very cute. :)
I feel better now because this is sooo funny!!! 26:20 Jun Park swearing. He's really funny!!! And 26:28 John Park's reaction! Hahahaha!!! Also, 29:31 31:20 This is also hilarious when they were teasing Taecyeon!!! XD
I agree! I'm a Filipino and Filipinos have close family ties, even extended ones. WOW!!! People are so SENSITIVE, BUTTHURT, EASILY OFFENDED by things!!! They put extra meaning and overanalyze things which are said!! Way to judge Sam like you know him too well to call him those! >_< And btw, he said Western women. He probably means that Western women are more independent and it's true that they're probably less affectionate.. I know where he's coming 'cause I observe things and learn things about cultures. He probably doesn't mean that you have no affection for people.. his words just came off like that. Way to go to assume things about him like that! :( PLEASE DON'T WATCH SHOWS LIKE THESE BUTTHURT, SENSITIVE PEOPLE! Honestly shocked by people who react so violently to little things like these! XD This is suppose to be a fun and funny show. But butthurt people ruin it!! At least for me, it wasn't ruined! Annoying!!
Ok so as a black woman the conversation amused and offended me. It was funny when they explained their experiences with black people but to judge a whole race of people by the few you knew in the 1980s is stupid. It's sad in 2014 they are still so ignorant of other countries cultures, I mean the generalization was crazy even when Sam talked about Western women it was enough to make me cringe. South Korea has a long way to go to become internationalized if this is still the attitude most Koreans have. Not to say they all do but smh this was kind of disappointing.
I agree about the generalization. I was cringing too. However, Korea is still a very homogenous place so I don't think most Koreans have been exposed to foreign cultures. Compared to when I had just moved to South Korea it's gotten A LOT better but I agree. Korea still has a long way to go. Sorry you felt offended but I hope you understand that not all Koreans feel the same way!
I'm glad it is getting better but it's just kind of sad. We have to fight stereotypes hard enough as it is right here in the US and it's the same thing if not worse over there. I don't believe for one second all Koreans think this way, but I just want to be judged by who I am as a woman and as a person not by my complexion. Generalization and stereotypes are stupid lol.
it didn't seem to me they were generalizing when speaking of african americans. I watched it as specific to his time frame of the 80s and LA in the 80s was rough. however what I took most offense was the way Sam spoke about western women in comparison to korean. it was not only a stereotype but also telling of his underlying subscription to patriarchy that remains prevalent especially in south korea. but to be honest, people should really not take their experiences as truth of course. Like drinking? There is such a thing as social drinking and it really depends on the culture or city/geographic location in America.
The sneezing thing is because in the European countries there was the Plagues and other horrible diseases that happened in the dark ages etc, and so many tons of people died. So since it was a Christian or church related culture in EU (the Western world), people were saying they felt sad someone was likely going to die because they sneezed (while ill). The hygiene was minimal back then and no real medical like science today in modern times. So if you got sick, you likely died. Back then people were living together and getting sick and dying. People were all over the streets and everywhere just dying. So it was a very serious thing. Most likely when people said God bless you... it was as they were running by the person to avoid them and not catch the illness and die. The saying followed the British, Italians, Irish and French people as they came to America and Canada to settle here, and since most were religious or Christian it was part of the culture and a typical saying. People still say it today. Likely not so much in liberal areas as much as you would hear it from those who have Christian background (anywhere USA) or are from the Southern US states. Now its more of a nice thing to say. But the history of the saying was very "grave".
Fei is such an underrated beauty

john I admire you ,,keep it up bro your believe and follow the Lord way because this all entertainment will pass by but not the kingdom of the god
thank you KBS for the subs :D you guys are probably international fans' favorite channel aside from the subbers out there

i agree with Fei the Korean people they are wonderful i have great friends when we meet first they are amazing to me and also each other god bless you guys and live happily after
I'm from New Zealand as well Sam Hammington
I didn't think there was any racism involved, guys. Why are you sensitive/quick to misinterpret their words? I think they were having an interesting discussion, learning about others' cultures.
There wasn't anything spiteful or racist in their comments. They were simply curious about certain aspects of foreign cultures. You can fault them for being too ignorant but not being racist.
Please chill guys. Yeesh.
I'm from the US and I memorized the multiplication table when I was in elementary school....
WE LOVE YOU! We just love you so much for having subbed this!
Taecyeon was a hot nerd.
guess i've got a few more languages to go to be taecyeon's wife. 1/3 isn't too bad... right? :(
Thank you so much for subbing this, KBS!
oh i like taecyeon all the time
As an American kid born and raised I have to say this is nothing but stereotypes and sorry if they had bad experiences but that does not give them a reason to make fun of or disrespect other cultures.
I was also offended at some of the comments they made too but that's just for entertainment purposes.
lovelaughsmile1000 fuck america
That is really true and I agree but i also think it's not saying everyone is like that but it just seems as if both sides can do a little less of the stereotype thing.
taecyeon my bae❤🌌
thank you KBS! I enjoyed the episode :)
This was hilarious. I really enjoyed it. Taeyceon and John Park are very handsome. It was so funny because you could tell he was uncomfortable when they were swearing. And Miss A's Fei was very cute. :)
Taecyeon
8:06 The two main hosts are sooo funny!!! XD "Shut up!" >_
Good thing there's a place called UA-cam to keep me sane from life's stresses! So funny!!
Still feel a little down and lonely tho.
I feel better now because this is sooo funny!!! 26:20 Jun Park swearing. He's really funny!!! And 26:28 John Park's reaction! Hahahaha!!! Also, 29:31
31:20 This is also hilarious when they were teasing Taecyeon!!! XD
1:10:28 - 1:10:49 Jaesuk and Myeongsu are clever jokers and thinkers!!! XD
I agree! I'm a Filipino and Filipinos have close family ties, even
extended ones.
WOW!!! People are so SENSITIVE, BUTTHURT, EASILY OFFENDED by things!!!
They put extra meaning and overanalyze things which are said!! Way to
judge Sam like you know him too well to call him those! >_<
And btw, he said Western women. He probably means that Western women are
more independent and it's true that they're probably less
affectionate.. I know where he's coming 'cause I observe things and
learn things about cultures. He probably doesn't mean that you have no
affection for people.. his words just came off like that. Way to go to
assume things about him like that! :(
PLEASE DON'T WATCH SHOWS LIKE THESE BUTTHURT, SENSITIVE PEOPLE!
Honestly shocked by people who react so violently to little things like these! XD
This is suppose to be a fun and funny show. But butthurt people ruin it!! At least for me, it wasn't ruined! Annoying!!
Its so awesome KBS uploads these :)
Found this video in 2021 but seriously I've repeat watching this so many times. Park jun gyu is funny as hell 😂😂😂😂😂
Generalization and stereotypes are stupid lol.
funny because you're the one generalizing now
it didn't seem to me they were generalizing when speaking of african americans. There is such a thing as social drinking and it really depends on the culture or city/geographic location in America.
copymizer she literally said "NOT ALL"
The sneezing thing is because in the European countries there was the Plagues and other horrible diseases that happened in the dark ages etc, and so many tons of people died.
Park jun gyu really similliar to my dad ahahaha
loooooove the fact that they sub it ^^
it is really amazing to see tecyeon oppa
