if you'd put a piece of paper or cardboard between the egg cartons then you'll have a lot neater looking colony. and investing in some cardboard trays would help keep their enclosure clean as well because you won't have all the petrified carrots and apples. and maybe consider not using apples because they stain and go bad a lot quicker than the carrots. the carrots petrify while the apples rot basically
I have a question and help me please.. i bought some roaches and the store guy told me they are dubia roaches. When i put them on plastic box they start climbing and I heard that dubia roaches can’t climb. So do they climb or no??
@@xxd5doo5xx89 dubias can climb. they just aren't as good as other roaches. the best thing you can do is if you have clear packing tape? tape like an inch below the top of the containers walls on the inside, if that makes sense. what i recommend is making sure that the plastic you're using is completely smooth and void of any scratches or caked on dirt because they will use whatever they can to get out
Get a separate tub just for placing them during cleaning. Just kinda bang the egg flats on the side of tub till all the roaches are off. Clean then place back.
Just came across the video and subscribed. Question, I have a reptile room that is 88° and 60-65% humidity during the day and 79° and 65-70% at night. If I get 3 tubs and start with 30 males and 150 females in each one will that be a good start?
Can you tell me how you prevent the fruit flys from breeding with the fruits and veggies you feed the Dubai? The fruits and veggies leave my tubs wet and breeds fruit flys :(
Is it better if there’s less egg crates? I have around 300* females but on a 100+L bin and i feel like they’re breeding slow. There are like >50 egg crates in there and i think that’s one of the problem. Is it?
I know how to tell the difference between males and females as adults - but is there a way to tell when they are sub adult? I would like to have more colonies (two right now, but can't mess with them till april of 23) and would love to be able to know
You can look at the last body segment and compare its width to the segment before it. If the bottom 2 segments are wide female. If the last body segment is narrow male. Not 100 percent effective and nymphs have to be a couple colts away from adulthood for greater accuracy. Trying to sex smalls I don't believe is possible with any accuracy
I've planned to get two white's tree frogs in future and I'm still confused of something. That is....how many dubia roaches for whole year long?I googled how to start a colony & it said 20.Butttttt...those 20 roaches will gone within a week, right? So,do I have to separate roaches that I'll feed and roaches that I'll breed?Thank u
When you start with 20 you’re not supposed to feed from that colony for 6 months to a year. You need to get your colony established before starting to use them as feed
@@mtithewoodentank4817 depending on what yoire keeping them in. Mime are in a heavy duty plastic toat. I put a large zoo med heating pad underneath it. I havmt got a thermostat yet but they seem to be thriving . I havnt put holes in the toat yet cause it's still getting cold.

I`m Japanese.
I like Dubias.
Your movies are interesting for me .
I cannot write English.
I would be very happy if you read this comment.
Your English is way better than my japanese! Don't apologize for knowing more languages than most English speakers hahaha
It's okayyy. You do not have to apologize about not being fluent in your second language. Also, your English is great.
@@ITSSKUDDUMMY you could be just as good with Google Translate as well lol
I’m thinking we need to get a colony going! Feeders from the pet stores are just killin our pockets!
Just bought a 800+ established colony for 40$ lol

@@stopmotionproductions4859 colony is doing great. They eat like a horse but easy to maintain.
Do it, u will enjoy breeding them. But I must warn you its gets addicted.
yep just ordered my starter colony cause of this
How do you clean the frass? I noticed you don't have a double bin system. Your obviously doing well!

@foodchainfeeders262 what temps do you keep for dubias?
Is it necessary to shred the veggies or will they eat chunks and thick slices?
hey at what temperature do you keep your dubias? and how do you heat them?
Please tell
85-95 degrees
I love how they dont scurry away from the light haha
They do. It’s just that they’re hungry and the lights stays on.
Great video im starting to get into breeding different feeders and this helped a lot.
How long do u leave the food in there for!???🤔🤔🤔🙄
How are the egg crates not terribly nasty? Isn't it hard cleaning the food off of them?
Great vid! I’d like to get a colony going but my biggest question is, how do you clean the cages without getting Dubais everywhere? Thanks!
Get a separate tub just for placing them during cleaning. Just kinda bang the egg flats on the side of tub till all the roaches are off. Clean then place back.
Are there different kinds of dubia roaches? I noticed that some females are almost all black and some have gold bands
Thing is i feed mygliders the dubias & the dubia chow i dont want my gliders eatting that so what can i feed my dubias?
How do you prevent mites? I just started learning about this stuff because we bought a baby bearded dragon.
Aye yo great video once again! Would love to see how you deal with mites and other pests with dubias.
thank you
How many females can be put with a male at once? Or is it one male to one female?
How do you heat your colonies bc doesn't your food soon turn rock hard? Also how do you keep moisture?
do i see some mealworms and beetles in the tubs? any reason why they are in there?
What should I type to find the case?
Do you boil your carrots to soften it ?
What about mold inside with all that moist?
Do you feed the apple peel also?
Does it mess up the egg crates when you put food on top of them?? Sub’d
Do they eat anything else except carrots snd apples?
Yes but dont feed them avocado or spinach or onions btw
How often do you feed veggies to your Dubai’s?

your main concern is temperature. 85-95 degrees. could also take a while depending on what stage of adulthood they're in n
I’ve watched this like 10 time this is so entertaining

The dubias need to be able to eat everything up in a couple hours max
What tub’s do u use
have you ever tried to feed fresh alfalfa? chop up mix in with other things?
These roaches have 65 grams of protein in 100 grams nearly double than chicken
And 3 times than normal cockroach ie periplaneta Americana
What’s the max amount of roaches you can keep in a colony this size?
Any amount ur house can hold I sleep with mjne
@@stopmotionproductions4859 😬
How many colonies you have?
You feed them every day?
do i need to separate the babies?
Can you make a video on how you keep the tub at a good temperature (your heat source and set up)
try a closet and if you're serious about it, make sure your house is at least 85

ideal breeding temperatures are 85-95 degrees. and fit as many as you can with a construction paper like paper in between each of the egg cartons
Just the other day I was going through my dubias and found a bunch of tiny larvae not sure where they came from should I be worried?
What do they look like?
Can these so called “clean up crew” larvae crawl up the sides and get out?
I’m not asking if the “larvae” can climb out, but the beetles themselves?
@@imaybestupid2045 they just look like larvae about a quarter of the size of a grain of rice. They just popped up out of nowhere
@L L but how’d they get in my colony though that’s what I’m trying to figure out

Do you provide water crystals/orbees or do you allow them to get their hydration from the food?
Water crystals have polymer so not good for your reptiles or tarantulas
